My husband put up with my craziness as I searched hi and low for the perfect area rug. We live in Hillsborough County but we looked in Hillsborough, Pasco and Sarasota Counties for the perfect area rug! In my opinion no place was to far to drive and look, and we looked everywhere!! One day I saw a commercial for "Rugs As Art" on tv. It looked very interesting, so off we went to Sarasota. If you are in the market for an area rug let me save you some time and trouble! My hubby and I first went to this store in December to have a look and see what it was all about. I loved what I saw and went back again & again! They had sooooo many area rugs I was now getting confused!!! When we narrowed it down I told the lovely, patient gentleman Andy who was helping us that I had to go home to measure. I had to measure to make sure I ordered correctly and I would be back. Andy was kind, very helpful and not pushy at all which we appreciated. We returned and I ordered the very first rug I had originally seen and fallen in love with! They say always go with your first choice and I did. Andy thanked us for returning and for asking for him. He placed my order and just as he said, it arrived 2 weeks later. I had seen this particular rug on our very first visit but it sold, so Andy ordered it for me. Good thing I took pictures of the rug and tag! The two gentlemen that made the delivery were very nice and professional. They brought my new rug in, unrolled it, put it down and picked up the sofa for us and placed it on my new rug. It looks beautiful and really anchors my room. This store has an 18,000 sq ft showroom. I learned from Andy that they will cut and re-finish any rug for you if you need a specific size. They have all price points, all kinds of styles, colors, sizes, and all kinds of patterns. They offer machine made and hand made. They also sell Art and decorative items, but I think they are more if a area rug store. If you see an area rug that you like they will let you take it home to see how it looks! I've never heard of any store telling you to take it home and see how it looks. Rugs As Art says that they are constantly getting in new inventory. I saw to be true after returning a few times. read more

Recently purchased a large area rug from this store. It was delivered 3 weeks later and is exactly what we ordered. The two delivery men brought the rug right in, moved a room full of furniture, and laid it out. These guys were great. The store is very large and full of all sizes of area rugs. The store is arranged very nIcely. Prices ranging from a few hundred to several thousand dollars. You can order from catalogs if they don't have the size you need in the showroom. Our salesman Andy was excellent. He spent time showing us many rugs and explaining how to decide on size and colors. We never felt pressured to buy. He even said we could take a sample home to make sure of the colors. They get new rugs in on a regular basis. You can return several times, as we did, until you see what you like. Let me save you some time, just shop here first. We looked in three counties and ended up coming back here to buy. The store also sells a small selection of lamps and pictures. I brought an Oriental rug to Rugs as Art for cleaning. A couple of weeks later, I received a message from Harris indicating that the rug was cleaned, but the fringe had frayed a bit and asking my permission whether or not to cut and even the fringe. Before I could call back and ask any questions or for a picture, I received another message from him indicating that they had gone ahead and cut the fringe! I couldn't believe that they would make this type of change to my property without my permission. I was shocked when I went to pick up the rug. The beautiful long fringe on the rug was gone--now only about an inch or two long. I asked to speak to the owner. I man who identified himself as "John, the owner" came out and agreed that they should have waited for my permission before cutting the fringe. And that there was nothing that they could do. I asked for a refund of the approximately $100 cleaning fee and he refused. Customer owned merchandise should not be modified in any way without prior permission. The beauty and value of the rug has been reduced and cannot be replaced. I will not be back. read more

your long winded ansr states nothing--i asked for my rug to be wrapped for long term storage and protected from bugs.. a professional would know this means bubble wrapped. i should not have to use the correct manufacturer lingo to get the correct service.. i did not get it.. PERIOD. MY 3, 000 $ rug is now in jeopordy. read more

Awful customer service. I was there for about an hour and my salesperson was called away several times to help new customers that had arrived at the store. It made it quite difficult to shop. He wrote down wrong sizes on my order. I called a week or so later to cancel the delivery "upon approval" and explained to salesperson that my in store experience wasn't that great and I felt pressured into the delivery. He was very rude and said that they were busy the day I was there. A week or so after I got a message from delivery department. I called to advise I'd already cancelled and once again I was met with rudeness from person answering phone. I'll never shop there again. read more

My husband and I recently bought a new to us boat. We are living aboard and living our dream. The old indoor/outdoor carpet on the aft sun deck and around the helm station was torn and tattered. It needed to go! We used the patterns in place, bought some pretty carpet, cut it out ourselves and then took it to Rugs as Art to have them bind it for us. I couldn't be happier with the results. After looking around at quotes, and dealing with a few very flaky people, Rugs as Art and their refinishing team were spot on. Rugs as Art took my hand knotted Moroccan wool rug for cleaning. it came back with red stains that were not there prior to the cleaning. I've contacted them multiple times About reimbursement for the rug, they have not responded to me. This has been going on since July. It looks like I'm gonna have to take legal action. BE AWARE. If/when you purchase a rug from them, you will not know this - - The Manufacturer/name/number of the rug, nor the fiber content (in percentages), nor specific care instructions. Why? because they tear the actual manufacturer's label off and apply their own Rugs as Art generic label. You'll receive a one year (limited) warranty, which isn't even specified in the paperwork you sign. NOTHING is specified in the contract/paperwork. I admit they have nice rugs, and we did purchase two (of the same) anticipating we'd actually 'know' who manufactured them, what the fiber content is, and specific care instruction when delivered. Nope, they tore the label off and put their own on. I can understand that they don't want you to know prior to purchase so you don't google it and, perhaps purchase elsewhere, but if I've already purchased, then I should be able to know this information. I don't know that I'd shop there again, as I don't appreciate their lack of honesty or customer service when I called back to get this info and was on hold for over 12 min. (20 min before they closed). Your choice/option. read more

We have had our 4 "Persian" rugs cleaned by this team, and it is like getting new rugs every time! We bought all but one from the store, and love the quality and how great the colors are of the rugs we bought. We have worked with several of the team members over the years, and have been given very good advice. Being able to take the rug home to "try it on" helps to really see it in place and be sure that size, color, and texture are working with the decor. It kept us from keeping the first rug we fell in love with at the store, and trying out a few, which really got us the rug we were "meant to have". I will rely on Rugs As Art for any carpet/rug issues. read more

Leslie Mazer was fantastic at helping us pick our beautiful 9x13 master bedroom rug. Unfortunately, the predicted delivery date was delayed by 6 weeks due to COVID, but Leslie kept us posted and gave us the option to cancel and order another rug. But this particular one was -- the one! And so worth the wait! Rugs As Art also give military discounts and has some great art of which we now have 2 pieces in our home. My wife and I don't live in Sarasota, but we only buy rugs when we're there. Rugs as Art has two main things going for it. First, the selection. Not only is it massive, but it covers everything from the budget-friendly items (which are more my speed, at the moment) to amazing works of art I'd feel bad putting furniture on. Second, they are helpful. Like super helpful. I was having issues with a rug pad leaving marks on my wood floors, and they went out of their way to show me how a natural pad works different than the piece of junk I bought at Target. I was shocked that the price was better! So no more cheap rugs from Pier 1 for me. Despite the upscale feel, Rugs as Art is not just for the uber-rich of Sarasota (though they can certainly acoomodate you if you fit in that demographic). :) read more

I took an 8 ft. wool runner to be cleaned. The rug was purchased elsewhere. They were very courteous, explained the rug wash process to me and charged me a reasonable fee. I arrived in Sarasota 5+ years ago and found Rugs as Art to be an excellent resource. I've relocated a couple of times within Sarasota so have been to the store several times for additional rugs. All of my interactions with Rugs as Art have been good... Very Good. They have great selection that's well displayed and the quality of the people that work there is excellent. But this week, Rugs as Art elevated my trust and confidence in their company to a whole new level. I have had a problem with a rug I bought a while back and before I could finish explaining the problem to Andy he resolved it, frankly I think most other stores would have been unable to do the right thing. Only the clerk with whom I was dealing put her mask on, but the others were close enough that I think they should have put theirs on too. I have used Rugs as Art multiple times for 3 different property renovations over the last 4 years. They come highly recommended from my designer who uses them on a regular basis. They are very helpful! On the last and current renovation they brought out numerous rugs our designer had previously picked out. They moved them around to all the different rooms as needed.
