Don't waste your time or money. All of the negative reviews you read on here and the videos of overcrowding and understaffing are true. Take my advice: drive a bit further and go tubing at Cloudcroft. The hills are bigger and better, staff is fantastic, and they keep control if the number of people who can go each session. We had a great time, twilight hours get you in for several hours at the end of the day and saves money. It was busy but even though the lines looked intimidating they went fast. Not something I'd do all day but 2-3 hours is great. There are conveyer like belts that take you up to the top (only downer bc I was actually hoping to climb and get some exercise). Be careful they are slippery. Also if you have a small child that doesn't weigh much or less than 10 maybe have them go down with you first. Brings either googles or glasses, when you stop you place your feet on the ground and get a face full of snow. And wear layers we all had on a lot and were comfortable! There are plenty of food trucks, but I didn't eat anything from there. It was a perfect afternoon activity!! Especially since we all didn't have our snowboards for ski Apache. read more

If you want to go here, buy tickets at least 1 day ahead of time (you can't buy tickets online for the same day) and show up before they open. We read the reviews to show up when they open, but it we made it there 45 mins after they opened. The line at the ticket booth is chaos. They should add ropes so people know where the line is. As it is, people kept walking up from the sides and it was just a big group, not a line. They close the booth for 30 mins at a time, and we had no faith that we'd be able to get a ticket when they reopened. There is nowhere for the kids to play while you wait. We thought they might be able to play at the bottom of the hill in the snow, but it's all fenced off. They suggested we buy tickets for the mountain coaster, but then we wouldn't have a tube ticket and there was a steady steam of cars coming in. There were parking lot attendants helping people park, but they did nothing to help people leave the parking lot. It would help if the main lane in and out of the lot was striped so people know it's two-way. As it was, it was being treated like a one-way. We ended up needing to get out of our car to ask someone to stop so we could get out. It felt very disorganized. We won't be back. read more

We had the best time! All the staff were so great. We went on one of the Mondays that they were open and toward the end of the day. Got in and started around 3:30, they closed at 5 but we are both over 40 with no kids so that was plenty of time for us especially with it not being crowded at all. Okay so we actually stumbled upon this park. We were actually going to ski apache, when we seen the snow and the chutes. So we turned around and parked. For being spring break week on a Tuesday it wasn't too crowded. For us everything was pretty smooth. From purchasing tickets to getting tunes and the the lines moving pretty fast. I had read reviews and I wasn't planning on coming however because we stumbled upon this place we said "what the heck". Had an amazing time with my family at this place. Took the whole fam from ages 1,5,6,7 & 8.. I recommend those who want to try tubing to come to this place. I am the mother of a two year old so typically whatever keeps her happy and entertained I'm happy with. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with winter park even though my daughter had fun and I'm not the picky type. Here is just a couple of the negatives I noticed in our 1.5 hour stay: - We entered the park and it seemed like a cattle yard for people. The lines were extremely long (for tickets, food, slopes) with no organization to anything. If you are the type who hates large crowds or being closely confined by people, this place isn't for you. - Lack of seating to accommodate the amount of people. If you have an elderly family member or someone with a stroller or infant who wants to tag along, get there early to scope out your table or end up standing the entire time. - 1 bathroom for the ENTIRE park. I did not use the women's bathroom but my husband used the men's and there was 2 stalls and 3 urinals, for a park packed with people. - The kids Korral consisted of two kiddie slopes. One of the slopes did not work properly and kids would attempt to go down only to get stuck and completely stop about 20 feet from where they began, parents were slipping on the slick snow to walk down the slope to try and push their children further down. There was no actual play area for the smaller children. - The passes you purchase are for 3 hours, but who is enforcing these time tickets? The 3 hour passes were to I'm assuming help keep the park pretty cleared out and less packed but it didn't seem to help at all. - The lines for the slopes were extremely long. If you have smaller, impatient children this isn't for you. We waited for approximately 30 minutes the first time going up, the attendant at the conveyor belt didn't take my daughters height and did not say anything about her riding the slopes. We stood in line again a second time for approximately 1 hour FINALLY making it to the conveyor belt and the attendant kicked us off! Our daughter was too short. We explained she just went on with us prior and no one said anything, he didn't care. We waited for 1 HOUR. Our daughter had so much fun the first time she was heart broken when we were booted. - Lack of concern for the customers safety or well being. I understand you sign a liability waiver but damn! I watched a middle age women going up the conveyor belt about half way up sitting tumble over, she tumbled a good way down, feet over head when she finally landed on all fours. The woman was obviously injured and frazzled. I was in the kids Korral so I could not go to immediately help this woman up, but the staff turned off the conveyor belt and literally just stood there and waited for her to get up. Didn't try and move to help her whatsoever. There was a group of kids and teens behind her a ways that did not even offer a helping hand (shame on these children). This woman stayed on all fours for a hot minute trying to collect herself so she could stand back up at an angle and ride the belt up. She eventually got up and looked injured or at least sore trying to continue up. Some positives: - my two year old enjoyed the slopes - We had fun on our one ride down - since it is manufactured snow it wasn't freezing out All in all, If you are in Ruidoso and need something to do if there is snow on the group just enjoy the free fun and find a small slope yourself. It wasn't the worst experience, but with how much money they are making ($20 each adult) invest some of that money into expanding your park and making more slopes for smaller kids, adults and family slopes. We were disappointed in the end and won't be visiting again. read more

Great hills for snow tubing, we made the best of it! However, the park was HEAVILY overcrowded, understaffed, and a bit run-down; lines were approximately 70 minutes to go down each hill once. We had booked our own VIP Igloo approx $600), as the description stated that we would have a separate area for snow tubing and be provided tubes. That was not the case; we fought to find tubes like everyone else, stood in line for hours like everyone else. Our family was at the park from around 11:30am, until right before closing.. and were only able to go down the hill on tubes 3 times due to the lines. In my opinion, the VIP Igloo was NOT worth the money spent (cold, off putting pizza); however, the hostess staff were very sweet. **the gentlemen attending the lines for snowtubing spent their time yelling at everyone for even touching the snow or playing in it (yes, I understand the reason given that it had not snowed recently..), and yelling at everyone for having the wrong tubes, then turning them all around to get the right tubes and go to the end of the line. My husband and I decided that we will most likely not return to this Ruidoso Winter Park on our next trip to the area. read more

My family and I are warm weather peeps so it's rare you'll find us playing in the snow. We made the trip up to Ruidoso specifically seeking out snow though and this place was at the very top of our must do list. It's unlike anything we typically do, so tubing and playing in snow has a big novelty factor for us. I was worried we didn't have proper clothing for this activity, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well we managed with our thermal base layers and athletic dri fit leggings, sweatshirts, sneakers, hat and gloves. I assumed we would need full blown snow pants and boots. Sure, if you already have those things, by all means wear them, but you can swing it with just some standard winter clothing as well. We paid about $100 for the four of us to have lift tickets for three hours. Yes, I agree with the other reviews about the long lines and wait times, which is one of the main reasons I deducted a star. We did four slides and probably would've had time for a fifth had my daughter not gotten altitude sick and need to leave. She ended up deteriorating while in line at the top of the slope. My husband was able to get some assistance from a medic up there to help get her down. Rest assured they have trained people on staff for incidents like we had. Speaking of the staff, I encountered some helpful people, but there were quite a few others who were downright rude and made it clear they didn't want to be there. All in all, we enjoyed our time there and would probably visit again the next time we feel like playing in some snow. read more

I don't get the allure. We were here right when it opened. And that is when we started waiting in line. Line to get a ticket. Line to get a tube. Line to ride. Our ticket was for 3 hours and we got 4 rides. That's it-- 4. We didnt pause to take a drink. Didnt stop to take a breathe. If I'm doing my math right, that is 4 minutes riding and 2 hours and 56 minutes in line. At least two of the runs were closed. The place is a muddy mess. The snow is hard and packed. If there is any snow on the ground when you are in Ruidoso, I'd go buy one of those cheap plastic sleds and find a hill. You'll get more rides in for lots less $$$. read more

Took the family to Ruidoso Winterpark yesterday. Had a great time! Even though there hasn't been any real snow lately, the park was covered in snow. We rented an Igloo which I highly recommend so everyone had a place to rest and regroup before hitting the tube runs again. The staff was very attentive and helpful. We got there right at opening and stayed all day until closing. My kids said it was the best vacation ever. At times the lines were long, but for the most part the wait was never to long. The tube chutes were all fun. We also did the zip line several times. We're thinking of going back again tomorrow at the end of the day. The discounted night rate starts at 4pm and the park closes at 5pm, but you pretty much have it all to yourself for an hour, so you can go on a lot of runs pretty quickly. read more

Terrible experience! People are CONSTANTLY cutting in line (bc the lines are LONG, which is understandable and there is even a sign warning you re: the lines.) However, the owner is a complete jerk who does NOT care if you have a good experience, he only cares about money. (Also he doesn't wear a mask. I had to watch him pick his lip sore and watch it bleed during our discussion.) GROSS. I said something to a family about cutting us in line and one of them told me to "mind my business" and then proceeded to call me a "white bit*h" in front of my six-year-old daughter. The owner didn't care at all, he thought it was fine because, "how is he supposed to monitor that" and they "offered to let us have our spot back" after management confronted them which he felt was sufficient. No security and honestly some pretty rude/awful patrons. It's a trashy place. We will never return. Wish I would have seen these Yelp reviews before. The owner is 100% a vile and disgusting human being as reported in previous reviews. (Go look at his responses to people on TripAdvisor and see for yourself. Here's the lowdown: Winter Park is a snow tubing park near the foothills of Ski Apache. With the $20 per adult, $17 per "Junior" 8-17, and $9 per "Kidz" through age 7, you get three hours of access to their tubing shoots and two "magic carpet ride" conveyor belt lifts. We took my four-year old here and she played her little heart out for three straight hours and was still sad to have to go! She would most definitely give this place five stars. At first, we tubed with her (in a double tube with her in the back position), then she was brave enough to go on her own. I was impressed with the quantity of staff present, even with an EMT in case of an accident (which honestly, made me a tad uneasy because it reminded me that it is possibly dangerous). My husband and I also enjoyed tubing--two of the lower shoots even have jumps! Most of the snow is "blown" in so it is quite icy instead of light and fluffy. One of the main reasons they are losing a star is because the bottom of the shoots (and long area you trek hauling your tube at the from the bottom of your chute back to the lift) is a muddy, slushy, wet mess. They have attempted to lay carpets out to thwart the nastiness of this, but it didn't work. I should mention that being from south Texas, we don't have snow clothes. We rented a bib for my daughter ($10) but my husband and I just went in our normal clothes (with hat and gloves). No matter what they tell you, WEAR BOOTS! We ruined two pairs of shoes because of the disgusting slush. It was a sunny 55 degree Friday when we went and we were lucky enough to encounter no lines. My family visited over the Thanksgiving week. First of all the pictures you see on their website are false. There was only 3 small slides and an area for children. Only one fire pit was on even though there was another available. The day we went it was raining/sleeting there is no covered area to sit under so take an umbrella. They offer the "igloos" at $395!!!! Trust me NOT WORTH IT. The tandem and family group slides you see on the website are fake.The guy working there said they don't do that anymore cause it was dangerous!!?? This is the worst snow tubing place I have ever been to. When you go down you stop less the half way and then you end up walking down the rest more than you rode down. You have to wear mask but then they don't care about social distance. The food was not good. The snow is fake, the people that worked there were rude. So I do NOT recommend that you go there. They put out carpets out and they were wet and muddy and gross. The snow is very dirty and so were the carpets. The only thing that was good there was the s'mores funnel cake. read more

Definitely not worth $25 ticket ($20 for juniors). Ticket is good for 3 hours or closing time, whichever is first. We arrived early (before their opening time) as recommended, so there was still plenty of parking. It did get crowded quickly. For a "winter park," they only had a few lanes for the tubing- 2 for little kids and 3 for teens/grown folks. There's a conveyor belt that takes riders up the hill with their tubes, but it was slow. Once you slide down, you get on that belt and go back up for another turn to slide. The lines got long and we only got on each slide once. With only 3 slides, it got tiring and boring fast. Paying $25 for 3 slides down some muddy "snow" was not worth it. We wouldn't recommend for teens or adults that want to do more than slide down some messy, muddy lanes of ice, unless you plan on sticking around all 3 hours to stand in the long lines. The fire-pit was nice touch, but there were no marshmallows to toast as advertised on their website. We took our 16 month old daughter here today to check out the kid's corral. We had an amazing time! They have these awesome little tubes with a leash to pull with 4 different little hills to go down. It was only 10 bucks and parents get in free. I would definitely return because our daughter (and us) had a blast! For older kiddos (bigger than 36 inches) there was some awesome hills for tubing. I'm not sure what the prices were for tubing. I did see that there was a cool little zip line you could ride for 8 bucks. Huge plus: Parking was easy! AND there were food trucks selling lots of yummy snacks and hot cocoa. This place is a MUST especially if you have little ones! read more

Every line was a 40+ minute wait. 2 stars because once we actually got to tube it was fun. The parking is a joke for the amount of people that are allowed in. Just like inside the park, too many people and everyone is trying to get to the same spot. It seems like ownership is only worried in making money, not safety, or customer experience. The bigger of the two lifts broke after we'd been there only 20 minutes. They kept saying it would take 5 more minutes until we'd waited in line more than 40 minutes and everyone left the line. With everyone in the one remaining line it was enormous and would have easily taken an hour. The tickets are only for 3 hours so this is completely unreasonable. We asked for a refund and finally, after some waiting, talked to the owner. He was rude and dismissive and walked away. I can see how the place would be fun when it isn't over crowded. Well...spring break 2020! This place has potential! However, I can NOT highly recommend based on my experience. We reserved the VIP IGLOO package for 400.00! We woke up to pouring rain. No cancellation had to do that at least a week in advance. SO it finally stopped raining about 1:00 we got there about 1:30 we were ushered to our tent...no tubes waiting for us. The place was a muddy mess. Went down the hill 2 times before a tornado warning and hail started. Got our pizza and drinks...no zip line closed down. It then started lightning...not only the concern for the patrons BUT what about the employees standing out there in that mess! Not one mention of how they could make things better! I bet during snowy season this is a fun place but NOT WORTH 400.00!!! read more

What a horrible place!! The owner Tom is a cruel and greedy person. They advertised on the website that everything would be open but when we got there the staff was limited. No one whore their masks when speaking to me. The zip line was down when it was advertised as open. The pizza was cold and tasted like it was baked on top of the cardboard. The manager was uncooperative and said, "if you don't like it you can leave." When asked for a refund the owner, Tom, "said that that was his money now and you can take me to court if you want it back." The igloos were a joke and a slap in the face. Nothing like advertised on the website. Winter park is not for children under the age of 6. The snow was too thick and hard to walk through because they were not plowing or shoveling the snow out of the way for guests. When brought to the staff's attention, the manager Kay said " she would never bring her kids her" This place looks like it's on its last leg and by Toms (The Owner) attitude he seemed to desperately need my $500 more than me. The Winter Fun Park features 8 different slopes accessed by conveyer belts up the hill. We went with a group of four adults and four kids ranging in age from 6 to 67. Your lift ticket gives you access to 3 hours of tubing fun. Unfortunately, we picked the wrong time of day to go, or rather, the exact same time of day as everyone else. It was packed. Between waiting for your group to all come down the slide and then getting back in line and getting up the hill, each ride took us 30 minutes because the line was so long. This also meant there was a dearth of good tubes, so we had to start out in half flat tubes then upgrade as we found abandoned ones. The slides themselves were good with a variety of heights and features, some with humps that could launch you into the air a bit. The temps got into the 50s and it did get pretty slushy in spots, you definitely need water proof boots and snow pants. We arrived at 1:45 and left at 4:30. Around 3:30-4:00 more people started leaving and the last of our group still sliding had almost no line for their last trip. If we came back, we'd do a late afternoon trip. Going after lunch was very popular and resulted in lots of standing in line, which wasn't fun. Snow tubing is fun for all ages and this park is set up pretty well. Recommended if you can find an off peak time to arrive. read more

Overall we had a great time the only downside is the the restrooms,were disgusting and when we report to the manager Tim,he emailed stating that he could only assume that this is a customary in Mexico to have dirty smelly restrooms. And that he would take care of it but I wouldn't know because I didn't go back it was bad for men and women going in and coming out of both the restrooms portable and in the building. Plenty of staff on site that could have made this a cleaner environment. As it was $30 +$10 rental for snow outfit per person for one trip up the slope waited for about 40 mins to go and come down in less then 10 mins but worth the memory. read more

This place was perfect. We have four kids 10,8,3 & 3. The park was small enough that we could let the two oldest kids go by themselves while we ride with the two smaller ones. We rented an igloo and were able to stay all day. The hostess, I think her name was Kay, was extremely helpful and made sure we were doing good. I'll give it two stars only because it's a good idea and perhaps going in March is not the ideal time to go. With that said March of 2017 was warmer than average for NM. After tubing at Taos (my family's favorite) and Angelfire we were disappointed. Again it was warm and the snow was melting but in my opinion they should not have opened and took my $85.00 for four tubers. We each tubed twice and decided to leave after multiple people including myself didn't stay on the run we started in. They kept closing runs after people would fly out of their run. I'm fairly adventurous but when I jumped over two over runs and landed against the fencing I decided it wasn't safe for my 5 yrs or 12 yrs old. My advice is if it's warm outside and the snow looks icy and thin don't go. Plan to go back when the conditions are better. read more
