Nestled in woods near the river and main road, the cabins of Shadow Mountain Lodge and Upper Canyon Inn are quiet and inviting, with excellent proximity to dining and shopping in town. Our cabin was not one of the recent makeovers, but it offered a kitchenette, dishware, soft bedsheets, a spacious porch, and ample parking, making for a comfortable stay. This place was amazing!!! The very thing. That me and my man needed:) the staff was super friendly!! And the grounds well well kept! When we arrived in our room my first thought was "wow" this actually looks like the pics!! We had really good parking and easy access to everything to include the hot tub spa that was centrally located:) too bad my man forgot his shorts so no hot tubing for us:-( we enjoyed the small kitchen they had in the cabin we were able and by we I mean me lol. We had avoid time tho. It was a very nice and relaxing weekend we enjoyed our time so so much!!! I will be back with my daughter if I can this winter!! read more

My wife and I came here for a weekend getaway and it was amazing. We. The cabin was very clean and comfortable! The cabin is very convenient to town and tucked away so you don't get a lot of noise and traffic. They were very attentive to our needs and even brought us a regular coffee maker since we brought our own coffee. Thank you for a great weekend. read more

We made the reservation for a wedding but told we had to be quarantined due to the corona virus outbreak. When I informed the Managment of the facility of the quarantine and requested to cancel my booking with a refund they informed me that I would not be able to and that the full price of the stay will still be charged to my card. When I asked about moving the date they informed me that they can do it for up to 60 days in the future but the wedding is postponed to the fall so it was to far away for that to be valid. Now am I not only forced to miss my trip because of a medical situation that is out of my control but the Lodges are taking advantage of the situation and charging me for the entire stay as a cancellation fee. This is the worst customer service I have seen in a while and will never be staying here again. read more

Shadow mountain lodge has cute little cabins or rooms in their lodge for rent. The rooms are paired with fireplaces and have a kitchen and are decorated very cute with sculptured bears everywhere. It is very convenient to downtown and local activities. read more

The exact thing my girl and I needed. Very clean cabin we stayed at one of the more expensive ones, bed was super comfortable as was the whole setup. The staff was also super friendly and only $25 for my dog to stay there and we were there for 4 days. It is supposed to be a deposit, but I didnt expect to get it back, nor did I. They have movies for rent a 24/7 hottub (though its centrally located by all the cabins). I wouldnt hesitate to stay here again. read more

Loved the layout in the cabin and the outside. The jacuzzi was amazing , loved the privacy gazebo. The grounds are well kept. Spectacular. Spent a weekend here for a spontaneous snowboarding trip in Ruidoso. The lodge was very wood-y with a bear themed room, reclining couches, a lovely fireplace and amazing instant hot shower water. Quite spacious, and cozy. My favorite part though would be the little outdoor hot tub! It can fit maybe 4-5 people, but perfectly sized for 2. The water was perfect for the cold weather. Our first visit to Ruidoso, reserved cabin 301, stayed two nights, total $362.74. Friendly and professional staff, simple clear instructions, reserved parking, entire facility was pristine, lovely and clean. We enjoyed our stay. On the left as you entered the cabin we had two place settings on small table, sink, microwave, toaster oven, toaster, 10 cup coffee maker and small refrig. On the right, small couch with split recliners and TV that swiveled 180 deg to also see it in the bed. Next area was the bed, two small builtin side counters, single sink lav, combo jetted tub with shower, small closet and toilet with separate door. Windows opened but locked securely. For fresh towels we put the dirty ones on the porch. Daily maid service was extra. The four cabins available faced each other with a common grass area between. Everything was well maintained, new in looks and operation. And everything was pristine clean. While the floor space in the cabin was rather small, it was adequate. But by comparison two days later we stayed in a Holiday Inn Express at Scottsdale AZ with three times the square footage, a full kitchen and separate rooms for $116 per night. No complaint as everything is location, location, etc. Nice place, nice people and a price that was adequately reflected in the accommodations provided. read more

An excellent place to stay for a weekend! We came to Ruidoso for a snowboarding trip and were very pleased with everything. We felt like we were in a home and not a hotel. Loved the cabins! They had a great fireplace to snuggle by after a day on the slopes. A great kitchenette, nice comfy bed, a great big shower... The list goes on. Not only was the stay great but the staff is awesome. They recommended some good places to eat and some places to check out while in town. The housekeeping also did a great job keeping our cabin clean and tidy throughout the weekend! We stayed here on our second visit back to Ruidoso this past weekend, but our first time staying here. I have to say, this place is fantastic!!!! We stayed in the Lodge and our room was quaint and the perfect size for the long weekend. It was exceptionally clean also! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I got stuck late at work the night we were supposed to check in, and they offered a very easy late check in process. Next time we're in Ruidoso we will definitely be back to the Shadow Mountain Lodge!! read more
