I really want to like Bay Club because the potential is obvious, but the execution is…read moredisappointing. I used to go to Life Time, and the difference is night and day. It honestly doesn't take much to make a gym great, but Bay Club feels stuck in the past. The men's locker room is gross and smells. There's a persistent musky odor that's hard to stomach, likely coming from old carpet that's clearly been there for years. The men's showers are equally bad, with hair everywhere, inconsistent cleanliness, and low water pressure, which makes the entire experience feel unhygienic and poorly maintained. The men's sauna is especially concerning. There appears to be little to no ventilation, creating a heavy, stagnant environment that can allow dangerous CO buildup. On top of that, the walls and benches in the sauna are extremely outdated, reinforcing the sense that this space hasn't been refreshed or properly maintained in a long time. The products provided (shampoo, conditioner, etc.) are low quality and full of questionable ingredients, which feels completely out of place for a club charging premium prices. The weight room is constantly messy, with plates scattered everywhere and mismatched equipment. It feels chaotic instead of intentional. The outdoor gym is another huge missed opportunity. With the space and climate, it could be incredible, but instead it feels underdeveloped and outdated. Overall, everything just feels old and complacent. There's so much opportunity here, yet it seems like no one is pushing to raise the standard. After experiencing what a well-run gym can be, this falls short. I'll probably be canceling soon unless major improvements are made

I come from a dance/aerial arts background, and I was looking for a strength-focused training…read moreprogram to supplement my dancing that was more affordable than personal-training. As a complete novice to weightlifting and strength training, I joined as a founding member and have been really happy with the membership and my results. Each day of the week, there is a different focus (strength, cardio, etc.), and each type of focus varies from week to week so you will always be exposed to new movements and exercises. The workouts are great for any level of fitness, as the coaches can modify the movements to make them more accessible or more challenging. The coaches are really encouraging and do a great job of cheering you on, challenging you to push past your comfort zone, and correct your form and spot so you can feel safe and prevent injury. The workouts vary and cater to any goal whether it's to maintain fitness, lose body fat, or gain muscle. I love the integration of the heart rate monitors available for purchase that gamify the experience so you can compete against others or yourself. They also have an EVOLT 360 Body Composition Scanner so you can track your progress over time and actually measure results. Not only do I look and feel stronger, I have data to prove it. In addition, the 8-week program based model where you have the option to test your strength at the beginning and end is another way to measure results. The gym itself is clean, and the equipment is well-maintained, with high-powered fans, so it's always a great experience walking in. The General Manager, Noel is the most genuine and down-to earth leader and makes you feel welcome the second you step in the door. It's clear that he truly cares about members, their lives inside and outside of fitness, and is passionate about inspiring a health-centered lifestyle. This mindset really permeates the team of coaches and has cultivated a community. Shoutout to the coaches, John, Trystan, Azin, Stephanie, Drisana who regularly coach the noon class who each have a unique way of motivating and connecting to members, making us want to come back each day even when the workouts are tough. The community is really welcoming as well, so this is great if you are someone who is motivated by partnering up with a gym buddy or want to be part of a community. Keep up the great work BFT!

I started doing zoom Gut Check fitness routines with Joe and Nicole during the Covid shutdowns and instead of drinking and gaining weight, I lost weight, gained strength and endurance and had fun doing it. They typically do zoom meetings live at 6am on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. I don't really like waking up that early and can't always do them on those days, which works out as you can do these workouts any time and day of the week. They also have in person group classes. I make their Saturday morning classes every so often and they are very fun, and by fun, I mean they hurt. Thanks for the motivation and smiles!

Why I like it: 1) I could never get a work out like this on my own. The mix of cardio, strength, and just plain belligerent challenge is beyond the realm of my imagination. They don't call it bootcamp for nothing. 2) Joe is a very motivational and dynamic trainer. He and Nicole have great attitudes and push you but only as far as you can go. They do most of the workout with you and spend the rest of the time cheering you on. 3) Even without the Groupon, this is good value. The classes are usually small enough to get a good amount of attention (unless you go to one of the special ones like a "hit the surf" workout but then the big group is just super fun). Even in the bigger group, Joe organizes it very well and you will definitely get what you need. WARNING: Initial side effects include nausea/vomiting, inability to raise one's arms above ones head, and "Chihuahua quiver" after participation in activities like "Dragon's Backbone." DO NOT be alarmed. No one has died yet. Try it, you might just like it.
