Love this place. My go-to coffee stop in CB if I want a consistently well made drink. My favorite is the iced strawberry white chocolate latte (not on menu but you can ask for it). I love that their espresso is deep and full without tasting burnt. The flavors are great. Iced Matcha and mocha were a little too sweet for me but if you like your iced lattes on the sweeter side then this is perfect Indoor and outdoor seatings with free wifi :) WFH friendly! We went here almost every morning on our Crested Butte trip! Tried a couple coffee shops in town but this was our favorite. The lattes were all very good, we had coffee lattes, matcha lattes and vanilla chai lattes! The bookstore is also such a welcoming place! Our grandson loved going in there to "read" and even though as a 3 year old could be a little loud, was given smiles and patience by the staff. read more

Very rude and condescending. A boy and a girl were working and they were too busy talking to acknowledge us or take our order. When they did they were very rude, condescending, and unfriendly. Even laughed at my friend for ordering something when the case was empty. Coffee was good but would not go back or recommend. read more

What a wonderful place to find your morning hot brew!!! The 2-person team is always so cheerful and accommodating!!!! They have a huge list of coffee and tea specialities. I tried a chai tea latte, and it is my new favorite drink. Kiddos had hot apple cider, a nice change from hot chocolate (yes, hot chocolate is also on the menu!). They offer 3 or 4 non-dairy milks. For breakfast items, they offer a sausage or a vegetable burrito, but they really shine with their pastries. Items include a spinach croissant, as well as an almond or a white chocolate croissant. There's a large choice of muffins. My blueberry muffin was delicious! Summer seating is outside in a lovely, shaded patio. As an added bonus, there is an independent book store attached to this coffee shop that's fun to check out. This is my favorite coffee spot when visiting Crested Butte! read more

Their espresso has a great flavor which is always important to me because I order a plain iced latte. I loved it and I'm going back in the morning before we leave town. They also have kombucha and tea for those who enjoy that. read more

Excellent coffee, friendly service, GF bakery items...this place is a gem. My husband and I needed to work a few hours, which we were happily invited to do outside with their string Wifi and plug-in for our laptops. Much more hospitable than A Daily Dose. Plus an amazing little bookstore with cards from local artists and gift items galore. Highly recommend you stop here for your coffee when in CB! read more

The coffee here is absolutely outstanding, and so is the service! I ordered a small white mocha for inside, and they only had large mugs at the moment, so they poured me a little extra, which was super nice! When a business does something like this, they always earn me as a repeat customer. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so you will have a comfy place to sit and not be searching around for a spot. There's also a bookstore right next door which brought lots of smiles for this English major dork! read more

Haven't been back to CB in years, first place I came to was Rumors!! Best coffee and service combined, especially sweet to see my old friend Bradley smiling and laughing so much from behind her face mask. Such a warm environment (definitely try the Magic Mountain Bars they're irresistible) and stop by the book store to grab a book to read outside in the courtyard. :) hometown favorite place never fails read more

Stopped in this local CB coffeehouse just as they were closing. Friendly staff and quick service. The coffee is ok. I am glad I tried them but wasn't my favorite. It was packed when I walked by earlier in the day, so they are doing something right. Just not for me. read more

The coffee was surprisingly pretty good! I got a cold brew and a couple of stickers. I love how it's a bookstore too and I was sorely tempted to buy a puzzle and a t-shirt there. We only stopped in to Rumors for a quick cup of coffee before wandering the streets of Crested Butte but it looked like a very fun and cool place to relax. There's a bookstore right next door - always a good sign. Chairs and couches looked comfy and plentiful. There was definitely nothing "oppressive" or "corporate" about this place. I had a Cafe Cubano - described to me as "very sweet and very strong". It was tremendous. My wife had a mocha, which was also very tasty. Not the cheapest cups of coffee I ever bought - almost $8 for the two - but worth it. read more

I went here on Sunday morning and it's such a cute book store and coffee shop. I really liked the iced vanilla latte that I got. They have free WiFi and plenty of comfy seats for you to relax or get some work done. I would check it out if you're in CB - it's a nice little spot with friendly staff! read more

I wish I could've liked this place more, as I spent 10 days in CB and wanted a go-to coffee shop. When I went, the barista working was not friendly to me at all. I didn't feel comfortable or welcomed as she didn't greet me or crack a smile at any point. I felt my drink was a little overpriced but it did taste good. read more

Established in 2009.

Arvin and Danica Ramgoolam started Rumors Coffee and Tea House in 2009 because we felt that Crested Butte needed a sit down coffee shop with a great atmosphere for meetings, homework after school or just meet up with a friend. We were also best friends with the owner of the bookstore and books and coffee are a great match. In 2011 we took over the bookstore part as well and named it Townie Books.
