I stopped by Run For Your Life - Midtown location with a coworker who came to pick up her shoe order. At the same time, I wanted to try on a pair of shoes and Jennifer measured my feet and came back with 2 pairs of shoes. I immediately fell in love with the comfort of the first pair she brought out and made an impromptu decision to make the purchase. Less than 10 minutes later, I was out the door with my new pair of HOKA Bondi 9 shoes. Easy peasy! And, although these shoes don't appeal to me visually, in hindsight, this was a great value considering how comfortable and happy my feet were after a week-long conference! I've been here several times for various race packet pickups and it's always a treat browsing the store before/after! I actually won a voucher for placing in a race and was able to redeem it here and got a great pair of socks. They carry a bunch of great brands (Brooks, Rabbit, Hoka, etc) of apparel, shoes, and all running accessories. Staff is always warm and welcoming but not pushy, and prices are pretty fair - you can usually find some great deals on the sale rack too. This location is nice, in the middle of a plaza with Melting Pot, Edible Arrangements, and some other nice shops. read more

Tim completely made my visit wonderful, memorable, and got me excited about my new shoes. I don't always want to spend over $100 on shoes, but the older I get, the more I realize the importance of good foot support for your entire body! I came in thinking I had some knowledge about what I needed, he didn't ver discredit me, he just provided me with more knowledge. He allowed me to try on three pairs that fit my needs based on his assessment of my walk. He asked me if I was ok with a men's shoe, which I am. I just want the right one for me! I appreciated how he started by first asking me my goals and even broke them down by timeline. He also connected me with a running/walking group, being new here .. this is exactly what I need. It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to the Dilworth location. So many good memories - meeting up with run groups in front of that store... but I am sure it will just take a little time to adjust to the new location at Midtown. The great things this new location has going for it is exactly it - the location. Right in the heart of Charlotte... way more visible than the Dilworth store strip mall, with the Charlotte skyline just a stones throw away. The new Midtown store is also right off of Little Sugar Creek Greenway which I am sure was definitely in mind when they were scoping out for new diggs. The store is opening today, I got to peak in the windows this morning at 5:30am with my run group that decided to officially move along with the store. There is still some unpacking to do, but the store looks to have a great space and still offering everything you need for running (that you could possibly want). The shoe wall was up (seemed larger?) and all the racks of apparel, running belts, running nutrition, foam rollers,etc. More than just being a place to get great running shoes, Run For Your Life also provides run groups no matter what level of fitness you are at. The staff are very knowledgeable and super friendly. You can tell they are really passionate about running and how it can impact lives in the community. read more

I loved my first experiences at Run For Your Life. A coworker recommended I come here when we were discussing arch pain while running. I suspected I started to pronate over the last couple of months making my old running shoes very painful even to walk in. I walked in after work on a weekday, the store was empty which was nice, I got some good one-on-one tim with the sales associate. He conducted a gait analysis test by watching me walk and then run. I was given 3 choices of mid-level stability (for mild to moderate pronation) and was able to try them out around the store. I love the fact that Run For Your Life's employees don't pressure you into purchasing anything, they are just super helpful and answer any questions you may have about general topics or specific items. I left without purchasing anything the first time. I returned a couple of days later to check out the older models of the shoes I previously looked at as there wasn't that big of a difference and they were on sale for $30 off. I have never invested this much in shoes, let alone running shoes. The sales associate assured me that I would be able to bring them back for a full refund, regardless of how much I used the shoes, in 14 days and then for exchange/store credit in 30 days. Pretty sweet deal though I doubt I'll need the refund, exchange, or store credit. You can also sign up for races here! Pretty cool store! I just joined the Run Far program which began today and I'm so excited for it! The coaches did such a good job of making people feel welcomed and encouraged. Runners of all levels were there and being one of the slower of the pack I still left feeling proud of myself and encouraged by the beginning steps of this training program. While the store definitely looks nicer, I miss their old location of Park Road. It was easier to get in and out of (making a left turn on or off Kings is not easy), there was more parking and in my opinion it was an easier place to conglomerate pre and post group runs. Fortunately it seems like the same knowledgeable staff is there (maybe some new faces but same quality). Still a good place to buy running shoes just without some of the extra things that set apart the Dilworth store. read more

A running friend recommended Run for Your Life, and I'm so glad I went! I have been increasing the amount I run in the past year, and I really needed my stride evaluated and to be fitted for shoes. The lovely staff member I worked with, Ben, spent time getting to know me and making shoe recommendations based on my activity level. I tried several shoes and felt great in all of them - much better than trying on every pair at Dick's or Academy! Ben even found a pair they are discontinuing and gave me a great price on a pair that I love. I went on an 8 mile run with them the very first time and can't believe what I was running in before! Best service par none! I've been running a few half marathons and each time I needed new shoes I go to the outlets thinking I was saving money. I decided to try run for your life after visiting their booth at the Charlotte half in March. I wanted to try Hokas and switch from New Balance. The service was great and the prices were the same as the outlet! I went home and tried my new Hokas and actually just hated them so much. Run for your life has an awesome return policy that allowed me to bring them back and exchange them! I went back and returned them with no questions asked and walked out with the New Balances that I love so much! Definitely visit this store if you're a runner! read more

They'll listen to all my concerns and what I know I'm looking for and help me try on a few different pairs until I get the new gear that fits exactly my needs. They are very helpful in choosing the best shoe for your specific needs. RFYL also stands by their products. I bought a pair of shoes which just weren't working for me. They were not at all faulty in quality but were not right for me & my running style. Despite my having run in them for a couple of weeks, Darius took them back for a full exchange to different shoes. Went here to get a new pair of running shoes. I see this business at a lot of the brewery group runs around town and thought it would be a good place to start looking. I walked in to browse shoes and were asked by an associate if I wanted a shoe consultation, which I did. My name was put on a whiteboard so that I would be helped in the order that I arrived. I maybe waited 5 minutes. Not long at all. I described what I ran in now and what I was looking for in a new shoe. My associate, Ben, brought out two pairs of shoes to start with, both of which I liked! I also tried two other different types for comparison sake, and he let me run around the store in each pair and assessed my gait as well. Liking almost all pairs I tried, I was a difficult and confused customer and switched between all pairs probably 5 times each, but he was very patient and helpful, talking with my about my pros, cons, and overall needs. Would up with a pair of Brooks Launch after 30 minutes or so and if for some reason I change my mind and don't love them, they have a 30-day policy where you can bring it back. We just left this store and DID NOT receive good customer service. The employees could not figure out how to ring in a gift certificate for my wife and daughter and, in the end, overcharged us for their purchase. I went back in and tried to explain it to them (being a mathematician) and all they did was give me attitude. In the end, it was a $5.00 difference, but I still don't like to be cheated.
