I had a blow out while hiking in Palm Springs and needed to replace my shoes early and Running Wild was the store for me. Excellent location on Palm Canyon Dr really close to our hotel. Friendly staff greeted me eager to help me find the perfect shoe and I had a good idea of what I wanted. The salesperson helped with the sizing and fitting and in less than :40 I was ready to go. The shoe selection was great with lots of famous name brands like On, HOKA, and Birkenstock. I had a wonderful experience and the shoes were priced about the same as they always are. I used to love this spot and spent $1,000's there! I will never step foot in there again and encourage all to stay away even though I am huge on supporting local businesses. if you like a shady sales tactics and attitude from the owner this may be your place. I went in and was in need of a new pair of running shoes, expecting to spend $200-300. I selected a model and asked for a 10.5 and he went back and brought a pair out. never once letting me know he did not have a 10.5. He brought out a 11 trying to pas it off for a 10.5. They seemed big so I asked to see a 10. that was followed up but an attitude saying that he gave me the right size. when he brought the 10 out it was too small. so I decided to go with the bigger pair that I thought was a 10.5. After spending $250 I got the shoes and went home. when I got there I looked at the box closer and noticed it was a 11. I do acknowledge. that i shoukd have checked the box or tag in the shoe at the store but he really should have said he did not have a 10.5 but has only a 11 if Id like to try it on. when I went back to the store to return the shoes he told me a 10.5 would be there in a week but the 11s he sold me are the right size. Excuse me sir how are you going to tell me what my size is or not even be honest in the sales process!! clearly just trying to make a sale at any means necessary. Absolutely great selection for runners (and walkers). This store has old fashioned service. Huge selection of On Cloud. I was interested in Hokas (I wear Asics Gel Nimbus) and was fitted and actually found a pair. They have a huge selection of laces, socks and accessories. The Hokas are comfy and seem to run wide (good for me). I was happy they had some for me and will be wearing these next week hiking in Arizona. read more

Recently stopped into town to play tourist and had to get my girlfriend some slippahs. We found this place through the Hoka site and while the directions were a little different in practice the place was sick. We both recently wanted a change from the standard Nike/adidas fare and this place had it all. Being a little new we only really wanted to try hokas and on stuff and luckily they're wall to wall. The guy that helped us was really accommodating and we got our top picks narrowed down real fast. Ended up going for some cloudsurfers and Ora slippahs and they're nothing but the best! Reading so many positive reviews, and so few negative, makes me wonder why some folks are treated so rudely. We went to look at and try on the Hoka shoes. The tall guy got the shoes for us and as we asked questions about what made them so great, we got little to no response. I asked to see if there was a different style for us to try and he simply said no, those are the best. There was a guy with a mask and he wasn't much better. They offered no information, no offer to try on different shoes/brands and barely said two words to us. They seemed bothered, in a bad mood and could care less about making a sale. Tourists are the ones that keep these places open and making us feel unwelcome is just puzzling. We decided to take our business elsewhere in OC where we live. read more

Expensive, no discounts at all. Best to buy directly from the brands since their exchange or return policies are more flexible than this store. Customer service is great but not their policies. I bought the Hoka shoes and I couldn't wait to have them since my foot really needs them. I drove 25mins to the store. I have been wearing them for 7 days and the shoes are amazing but for some reason hurt my not injured foot. When I called in I cannot exchange or get any kind of credit since I wore them. Nice, $160 waisted. How am I supposed to know if the Shoes work or not. Wished I had bought them online and waited the 5-10days instead of getting them at the store. Went in to purchase shoes for my family. The service wasn't bad it was horrible bordering insulting . Won't go into details but it was a shocker to say the least and in no way provoked. Wanted to purchase 5 pairs of shoes for me and family. Masked sales clerk was in a bad mood and told off another woman and her son when she asked to use the restroom. We just left. Bad timing I suppose. Going to San Diego tomorrow and will hit Road Runner to pick them up. Sad because we like to support local businesses and we would have dropped at last $1000 in shoes alone. Second time I've been here both times have not been good. The woman working in the store hovered around me the entire time, but never once said a word. My daughter knocked over a pair of socks and she made a heavy sigh and picked them up before I could ask her to. This type of customer service is POOR & not the experience I want. Their women's shoe selection is terrible and they have a fracture of women's shoes compared to men, and nothing carbon plated. They are limited in their sizes too. I needed new running shoes, so the hubby and I made a trip up to Running Wild a couple/three weeks ago to see what they had. So happy we did! I ended up getting a pair of On Cloud Runners on the recommendation of one of the salesmen (I am unable to remember his name) and they are far and away the best running shoes I've ever had. I've already put a lot of miles on them, and I wore them for a day of airplane travel, and they were so comfy. Love the all around support and cushioning, plus they are cute. Worth every reasonably priced penny! This store has an awesome selection and their staff are very personable, helpful and knowledgable. I will be back soon to get another pair. read more

I made the drive out from Palm Desert to give Running Wild a try, and so glad I did. I passed many stores on the way, each time thinking "Will this be worth it?". It was. I browsed around, finding a section of men's sneakers that looked promising. Very shortly a salesperson (Toby) offered help. He went back to the stock room several times as we fine tuned the fit of my shoes (very wide feet). He gave me time to walk around, making sure they were exactly what I needed. I bought two pair, and then we found some sandals too! Great service, selection- I could not be happier. Parking was a bit of a challenge on a Saturday morning, but I found something on the street 2 blocks away. read more

I am only giving a rating of one star because of a bad customer service experience. They probably have some great sales people but I wouldn't buy shoes from them based on my experience and I won't return. The sales person was very offputting and I don't know if it was because I'm older (in my early 70s) or something else. He was not very helpful and obviously didn't seem to care about whether they got my business or not. Unfortunately it's hard to pinpoint the bad vibe I got from him. I was also disappointed that the socks they give you to wear while trying on their athletic shoes are small nylon socks. These are not the socks I would wear to go running. I like supporting local business, so I went to this shop for the first time. I saw a older guy wearing a face mask and I asked him for help to find a shoe for me. I knew what I wanted. But he took it on him self to bring out that shoe and three others that I didn't ask for. I said I didn't want to try them on and he then turned in to a rude sales man and very condescending. I won't say what he had to say about my choice, But I know Hoka is a good shoe and this shoe has a very good rating. So I left with out buying what I wanted because I didn't want to support or give this guy a sales commission. I waited a week and returned to get the shoes I wanted and figured I would get a different friendly sales person...Boy was I wrong. This time I got a tall thin guy that was extremely rude too. I should have been buying them here the whole time because they charge the same amount as going directly through Hoka. I came in with intention of buying Hoka trail shoes for walking the Camino in Spain. After a lengthy online search, the Speedgoat5 was my top choice and I had two backups of interest for my very wide feet, high arch and custom orthotics for my severely arthritic big toes (Hallux Rigidus). Knowledgeable staff quickly put me on to my top backup (Hoka Stinson 7) as superior for my intended purpose. They were wide enough. I'm happy with choice.
