I'll start this by explaining I am not the most comfortable person around a construction setting, but as soon as I stepped into Runyon I instantly felt better. I have started to take on bigger projects around my house and this past weekend it was time to tear out a cement patio and replace it. I wanted to figure out the quickest and easiest way to do and I needed a Jack hammer. After browsing all my tool rental options this not only seemed reliable, but by far more affordable. In comparison, the HD would require a $350 deposit for a $90 rental. I believe I spent a total of $133 on a Jack hammer, 2 chisel picks, and a wheel barrel. Best part was, I got a refund on a chisel pick without even asking. They asked me if I had used both, which I hadn't, and they just refunded me. I loved that!! The employees are all incredibly friendly and helpful here! Like I said, I was a bit uneasy at first, but once I started talking to someone, I was feeling much better. Shady Company. I live in western AZ. I called the Santa Ana, CA office. I wanted to buy a product that had a web price for $150. I was told with taxes and shipping, it would be $200-220. They didn't have their e-commerce set up, but the CS person sounded OK. Against my better judgement, I gave them my CC info. So, I get a debit on my credit card for $345 ! ! ! They charged $183 to ship 40 lbs (water based, non hazardous) from a warehouse in Las Vegas! Repeated calls to the CS person went unanswered. They are also implementing an online accounting system, but it has never posted any meaningful information and I have not received an invoice. For us, they are a "one and done" business, and would not recommend them ever. read more

Unfortunately, had a bad experience and it just seemed like bad communication between departments. The guys in the shop were really nice and helped me pick out what I needed when I was there. However, when it came to delivery my order was over 2 hours late and they only sent it out after I called for the third time without any notifications or updates that they would be late, the dispatcher let me know after I called that the original truck broke down. Then for pickup I called 3 times before I was sent to a dispatcher who finally got a pickup scheduled days later than my original pickup time. The first two times the person who answered the phone seems annoyed that I called and just said "we're busy" and did not give me a pick up number or anything. The dispatcher told me that she never notification that the pickup was ready. Additionally, when I asked ove the phone if the extra time would be charged or if it was on them, one of the shop employees said I would have to pay based on when it was picked up. I now know that wasn't true but it really stressed me out because I was completely left out stranded and had to stay home from work for 2 days to wait for them to do the pickup and had no idea when and if they would actually come. I spent $150 each way for delivery and I only live 10 minutes down the road. The whole point was I needed things to be timely. I would rate the shop experience 4/5 and the delivery experience 0/5. While I would absolutely rent from them again, I'm never doing delivery. The equipment was in good working order and the delivery driver was nice and helpful when he did get there. read more

More than anything else, I have to give a shout out to one employee, Odessa. I might have a different opinion of this company if not for her. Despite talking to two different employees, there was an issue when I showed to pick up a rental. Odessa was empathetic and showed great service skills. She was amazing and took ownership of the issue ensuring everything was all fixed and taken care of, and just made me feel good about doing business there. Hats off to Odessa, thank you for everything you did this morning. You are amazing and the world needs more people like you! read more

I've been using Runyons for over 15 years and have thought highly of them till this last month, they have switched management the new manger there is awful. They charged my card 4 times have no record told me manger would call me back this was two days ago and they keep avoiding me when I call up there. They charged me an extra full day on the equipment because I was 25 mins late past the drop off time completely unprofessional. I went there to save and get good equipment the machine was falling apart barley worked. And now charged me for an extra day because I was 25 mins late returning it. And then they still have my card charged 4 extra times for over $250 each charge I highly do not recommend this place. Everything was great when the father was running the place I believe his daughters have taken over and have so knuckle head running the place to ground so sad. read more

I have been renting from Runyon/Jack's for decades. Before today I would have sworn by these folks and their service. Unfortunately, it all changed today. The indifference I felt standing at the counter, Manager present, was staggering. I explained that I had been pulled over by the local police because the running lights on the trailer didn't work and not one person acted as if they cared, no one apologized or even acted like it was an issue. The service writer did radio the yard at large to tag it for repair. In the yard there are a gang of folks who are wildly busy and really don't pay attention to the radio. I will accept some of the responsibility because I didn't check the running lights before I drove away with the trailer. read more

Let me tell you about my Runyon Experience! I rented a generator from Runyon for an event we were having at our church. When I left the parking lot, I stopped at the gas station to get something to drink. When I drove off, the hitch broke. The only problem was Runyon had now closed and I had no way of getting in touch with anyone. Although it was a Saturday evening, I sent a random email and inbox hoping someone would get it and call me so that I could out of this situation. Not too long after that, Bonnie from Runyon called me and said that she got the email and that she would be there in 15 minutes. Not only did she show up but the owner came as well. (MIND BLOWN). Not only did they come to the rescue, but they apologized for the misfortune and rectified the situation. They went above and beyond to assist in my time of need and did everything they could to make sure everything was good for my event. Bonnie even followed up afterwards and was genuinely concerned about serving us. I was thoroughly impressed and pleased with their 5-star quality customer service and sincere desire to ensure that we had everything that we needed. read more

I would not recommend this business for any maintenance or repairs. Very rude staff that will lie to you. I was told my machine was covered under warranty 100% they kept my machine 2 weeks then called and said I owed $1,000.00 . I refused to pay and the head mechanic Jeff told me he as going to strip my machine down and damage it. He said it was my problem. Finally got ahold of the real manager who told me to come get the machine and only offered to cut bill in half even though I was told it's all covered under warranty. I picked my machine up and when I pulled into the lot they jumped on my machine and sped off with it to their far garage and looses all my bolts on my wheels. I'm not sure how it even got on my trailer with out wheels falling off bc when I got home I backed it off the trailer to literally have my wheel come off. I would not trust this company at all and not recommend to anyone. I was also hung up on several times and name called when I came to pick my machine up. read more

One star is being generous. If you need equipment at a specific time, this is not the company to rent from. Try Sunbelt or OneSource. Delivery was late. Kept getting a half baked excuse about needing parts for equipment. Funny thing, the delivery driver hinted that it was not needing parts. When I questioned Jack, he became very defensive and his body posture indicated something else. Needless to say, I will never do business myself or professionally with them again. It took 3 days just to find out any information at all on having the equipment delivered. I ended up going with another company.

I rented a slice seeder and returned it the same day within 3 hours. I was contacted a month later asking if I still had the equipment, I informed caller that I returned it the same day. A few weeks later, I see a charge on my debit card for $1,074.00 from Runyon. I call to speak with someone to find out why and leave a message for accounts manager. I verified that my debit card was credited upon returning the slice seeder so I know that it should have been in the system as "returned." I drove over and asked to speak with the person responsible for billing and was taken to her office. I discussed this with her and she told me that she can see that I returned the unit in her system, but could not tell me why I was charged over $1000. She said that she would credit my debit card within 5 days and that I can get my next rental for free. I am surprised that no one called me to give me an opportunity to dispute the charge before it was processed and advised the accounts manager that I was more upset about that than anything else. Make sure that you keep your return receipt, if you ever rent from them and monitor your debit/credit card for awhile after your rental. I'll never rent from them again because of how this was handled. The accounts manager was very apologetic after then incident, but I had to initiate contact with them to get it resolved. In the future I will gladly go out of my way to another equipment rental company. The equipment worked great, but returning the equipment was not a good experience. The company tried to charge me triple the amount, even though I paid when I picked up the equipment. The staff person who rented it to me said I "could return it tomorrow" and when I asked what I needed to do if I needed to keep it longer, he said "oh it's fine just keep it until Monday." Never once told me I would be charged double, or if I returned it after 12pm it would be triple. Never once told me it was a 24 hour rental. When returning the equipment, I was told that I should have known and that the staff assumed I knew that I was getting charged for the extra days. Here's a tip from someone who has worked in customer service for many years, never assume that your customers know how your services operate. Customer service includes explaining your services to your customers, so that there is no assuming. Also, arguing with customers is never a good idea. read more

The people that work inside are clueless about the equipment they are renting. I was told a piece of equipment would do something that it didn't do. They refused to refund my money...and quite frankly acted like they didn't care. My company has spent thousands of dollars with them....no more. This happens too often and there are a lot of other places that rent equipment. read more

Everyone at Runyons is extremely helpful. They helped me find the equipment i needed and helped me out in every way they could.
