Love the place. They are the go-to people for anything that you can't find anywhere else or just need to get a wide array of items and want the convenience of getting it all at one place. Of all the hardware stores, this is the place to go. Everything I've looked for at other stores (Lowe's or Home Depot) they either no longer carry the item, it's out of stock, way overpriced or whomever I speak to doesn't have a clue as to what I'm looking for, even something as simple as a thimble for a stove pipe. (Sp?) Joni is the person to speak with with down at hardware city. Incredibly knowledgeable and very helpful. Yes it's a small store and kind of high priced on some items but, I'm willing to pay for the knowledge and knowing that every time I've looked for something elsewhere, Hardware City has it. I would give this place a zero if I could. I have spent the majority of my life around Clarksville. I moved away for several years and have been back a while. I have always tried to search out a hardware store to try to do business with as well as a grocery. All of the grocery stores are gone and now we are down to one last hardware store. Hardware City. The last couple of times I have tried to do business with them I have been told (over the phone, I like to call first due to high gas prices and the distance) we don't carry anything like that, even though I have been in the store before and I knew they did. When the guy behind the counter commented on ours, he proceeded to say "I don't care if I die", asked about how many people we lost to Covid, proceeded not to give a SINGLE shit, and would barely finish our checkout so we could get the hell out of there. Hardware city is great in the way going to your hoarder grandparents was. Only everything is for sale. Well mostly. Most of those things outside are more there for curb appeal. And the items that are for sale no one really knows how much they cost. Sometimes finding a price tag is as special as a unicorn riding a rainbow with a leprechaun on its back. But let me tell you if you ask where something is every one of those hard working cousins knows exactly where you can find it. They have everything. Literally everything. I've never needed something and left empty handed. They have a special treatment for customers too-they kind of assume you're going to steal everything. But understandable given the mess. The prices are reasonable for a one stop shop in the middle of south Clarksville. They know you're going they and you're going to buy from them. So they charge you for it. But don't get me wrong I appreciate it when I need it. However if you have OCD, claustrophobia, any sort of anxiety order, depression, self worth issues, forgot to eat lunch, had too much coffee or forgot how bad you needed to poop before going in you should go to lowes. read more

They have EVERYTHING! it's a mess in there, but if you ask for something, as it is mostly family owned so not a lot of employees on the floor, they can tell you EXACTLY where it is! You say, "I need this little do-hickey for this thing...can't really describe it but it's for (XYZ)..." They say, "Go half way aisle 15, 3rd shelf, box behind the paperclips"...and it's THERE! My husband and I fought for years when I would say go to Hardware City, they will have it. After proving him wrong time after time he is now a believer. Horrible customer service! We rented a tube to take on the river. It had a patch from obviously a previous leak which was not holding and the tube would not stay inflated! Big disappointment to our kids. We called and got disconnected twice! We turned it in and they claimed it had never been used! We showed them the obvious wear and tear and the old patch! Oh...was the only response we got. No refund...just rudeness! They did say if we ever want to rent again...it would be free. Nope. Never will they get our business again! read more

My husband took our push lawn mower into Hardware City about the first of May to have the pull sting replaced. They called and told us the carburetor needed cleaning. We told them to go ahead and clean it. A week later we call them to see if it was ready because we still hadn't heard from them. They said it wasn't ready but they would get to it that day. We picked it up the next day and paid $30 something. When we got it home and tried to run it the mower ran good for about 10 minutes and then would bog down. We took it BACK in and told them what was going on with it and asked them to tune it up. A WEEK LATER we called them to see if it was ready because we hadn't heard from them. They had not gotten to it so we told them we would come pick it up and take it somewhere else. When we got there they were working on it and told us to come back in 20 minutes. We picked up the mower, took it home, AFTER paying another $30 something!!! Immediately it bogged down, then wouldn't start, over and over. We took the air filter off and it was more than DIRTY! I called and spoke to the owner and told him I wanted a refund "for this last service" because apparently NOTHING had been done to the mower because it was doing the exact same thing we took in in for! He said WE should have told them what was wrong with the mower! I asked him if replacing the air filter wasn't part of a tune up? He said they wouldn't know how to fix the mower if I didn't tell them what was wrong with it! WHAT THE.... I'm not a mechanic! You would think after TWO attempts to "fix" this lawn mower AND paying over $60 for repairs, the air filter should have AT LEAST been checked!! read more
