Only my second time in a rural king, my first visit was to one in niles Michigan years ago. After spending the weekend down in Madison Indiana with some friends on our way back to Indianapolis the said we needed to stop at rural king. This store is located in Shelbyville Indiana; just off of 74, when you walk into the store there's lots of plants and outdoor activities equipment outside, walk in and you can get some popcorn to enjoy as you walk through. Seems to me that there is just a bit of everything you might need located Inside. A large selection of causal and work clothes, several different types of shoes. The rest of the store has guns, pool, hunting, fishing, and farming equipment. I think if you have a dog up to a horse you might find something you need in the pet section and rural king. I recently bought a new (I thought was new), RK Performance 450 UTV from the local Shelbyville In. Rural king. The next day while going through the contents of the bag I was given at the time of purchase I found the title. It shows the unit as a 2021, being three years old. I'm guessing this is why the cashier said "Hey some one finally bought it!" I thought this was due to the 8,999.99 price tag not including tax. I called the store and asked for the manager. She was nice but said she could not do anything but would have some one contact me. A couple of days later a guy called me already apprised of the situation. I explained to him my issue of paying for a new unit, not one three years old. I suggested a refund based on depreciation. These units depreciate 15 to 20% the first few years according to the market. Since I was the first purchaser I suggested one years depreciation which would be 1,400.00. He said "absolutely not". He told me I could clean it up to look new and return it for a refund. One, this doesnt address the issue I bought what I felt was a new unit, not three years old! And two, there was not another unit available. Since this unit replaced my 87 year old Dad's broken down unit, this wasn't much of a option. This would also explain why the engine isnt running smoothly. I was told "the units were very well maintained and that didnt make since". I feel like this has been very poorly handled by Rural King, and I am surprised they would handle it this way. I will never return to Rural King, not even for their free pop corn. Lee Pope read more

People behind the gun counter have no common sense and are rude as can be. And the cracked out manager came even look me in the eyes

Oh, man, I love this place. It's kind of like a flea market/county fair/farm store all wrapped into one. Clothing? Yep. Boots? Yep. Live chickens? Yep. Guns? Yep. Pet supplies? Yep. Free popcorn while you shop? Yep. I ALWAYS spend more time in here than I intend. I've taken to exclusively buying their store jeans here, they're cheap and durable. If you need work shoes or cowboy boots, a VERY reasonable place to get them. The staff is always friendly and helpful. If you mostly shop in high end department stores, this likely isn't your cup of tea. But if you want to meander around and look for offbeat, unique items while munching on free popcorn, you'll love this place. read more

This is a email I sent rural king on 12-14-19. They sent me a automated return message saying they will get right back with me. But as of 12-21-19 nothing. I own a local campground. And in the past I bought a 10,000lumina light for the campground to make the area safe. So I just recently purchased a 4000 Lumina light and installed it today. To my surprise they were both lights were made from the same manufacture but the casing on the 4000 lumina light is very brittle and broke In a matter of minutes. I was planning on buying more of these lights and putting them up around the campground not only for efficiency but for safety but now I am pondering looking somewhere else. read more

We stopped at this location recently and seemed to have alot more going on than our one in Greenwood. Seemed like it had a little bit of everything. We went in to get a new harness for our pup because the Greenwood location never has the size we need for him, we also stocked up on pig ears and a new toy. There clothing department seemed a tad bigger than our normal store and they just seemed more in stock with items that we havent been able to find recently at our store. Overall good experience, still wish they would build one closer to where we live as no matter which one we go to its 45 mins away. read more

Ive shop often at Rural King, they have dog food, farm supplies, clothes, candy, camping supplies, automotive, household, furniture, and much more. Sort of like a tractor supply company the size of wal-mart. Prices are always low and very good, employees are friendly and helpful. Quick and easy to get in find what you want and get back out. Plenty of parking as they anchor the strip mall. read more

I like to shop here. I like the people here. And free popcorn and coffee. The only thing that bad is the bathroom all the way in the back.

The manager Dustin was a complete jerk to put it nicely. I just informed him that I wanted to talk to a manager and he apparently didn't like that and said he was going to refuse service. Don't go to this rural king!!!! read more

Yesterday I saw the clerk at the gun counter refuse straw sales of guns and ammo, thank you! All these Hispanic men, some actually ASLEEP in the rocking chairs, waiting around for a woman to buy their guns bc they had no ID. Thankfully manager recognized what was happening and stopped all the sales. She pitched a bitch, but they didn't back down, good for them! It was actually an uncomfortable situation and felt could turn bad very quickly so we applaud rural kings stance. I'm just hoping this sort of thing during the corona crisis doesn't make them want to stop sales altogether. Some of us just want to be able to protect our families, legally, and RK has gained new respect for stopping straw sales. Thank you!!! read more

As a Rural King goes this is a pretty good one. Store seems clean. Shelves always seem stocked well. Employees are usually friendly and love the free popcorn. If I can get it here, much prefer going here over the "Walmart experience". I also like they have some unusual items you can't find elsewhere (like baby chicks...just kidding, those have never really been on my shopping list). read more
