When I stopped by (around 2 PM on a Sunday) all of the parking spots were taken so I parked on a street in the neighborhood behind. VERY DISAPPOINTING: It's a Con, yelp says they're open but they aren't... after looking and navigating to them from downtown Dallas. I call and ask About their CHOCOLATE ECLAIR, They answer the phone I ask if they're open and they're like no we're always closed on Monday. I'm a tourist and I don't know that. She has what I was looking for and I said eclair and I "you have to special order that". Again that's not what it shows on their menu on yelp. After someone read the post I submitted. Wow, these muffins are amazing! The owner (I think it was the owner) was very nice & accommodating. I needed the muffins early Monday morning but they are closed Monday's. After reading reviews I made sure to call ahead and see if the store was open. The place has the beginning of cute decorations but it looks slightly unfinished. No macaroons were available of course, but I understand why so no real complaints there. I got the citrus (lemon) tart with little white chocolate shavings on top. I wish the consistency was a bit thicker but the flavor was spot on. It was more like a pudding instead of a firmer custard. It was about 4-5" in diameter and set me back $7. The lemon tart that I bought in Luxembourg was much better and cost about $5 so I wasn't to excited about paying more for a state-side tart that wasn't as delicious. I stopped in here after finding a few reviews online saying Rush Patisserie is the place to get macarons in Dallas. Unfortunately you have to call ahead to place your macaron orders. Fortunately she had a few leftover from someone else's order, so I was in luck! I got one each of the pistacchio, raspberry, chocolate, and OMG champagne. (OMG is all mine so you know how incredible this macaron was.) These are some of the best macarons I've ever had. The cookie part was perfect and the filling was divine. Samantha was great and we had a chat about some of the world's tastiest macarons. The only negative about Rush is that it's really hard to find. This hidden gem is pure gold! I took my mother here for a treat so it's our little dessert spot, however Friday, I went alone and grabbed 5 pastries, 2 cookies and 2 cokes. I was the only one in the shop at the time and I met and briefly spoke with the Chef. I grabbed my iPad out read a few pages from my current read and ate pastries! I was there for a self-love day; I didn't care how many pastries I bought or if I was going to gain 2400 lbs by eating them all- I ate one pastry and took the rest home btw. I absolutely love the key lime tart- the citrusy flavor topped with a creamy texture and whipped cream like fluff on top was perfection. I got the berry tart that was sprinkled with this copper glitter dust- this added a special touch to it. In the box I got the coffee/chocolate/hazelnut mouse topped with whipped cream and a chocolate brownie bite thing- this is for chocolate lovers it's fantastic trust me. Last tart was the carrot cake cheese cake- omg the best tasting carrot cheesecake ever, the base was the carrot cake and it was topped with cream cheese(cheesecake). I REALLY wanted to love this place, but it seems that the owner does not want new business. The website states the operating hours, but they aren't even OPEN during their own hours! I had been looking for a good french bakery, and I thought this would be the place. I live in Plano, so it is quite a drive. I checked the website to be sure that my drive wouldn't be in vain, and I planned on going with friends after dinner. We rushed our meal since their hours on Wednesday are supposedly 4:00-10:00. We arrived around 9:00, and the place was completely dark. We called the phone number on the site, and it was answered very unprofessionally. The owner said she only opens on weekdays for appointments. If that is the case, fine, by WHY would she post incorrect hours on her website http://rushpatisserie.com/ under "New Retail Hours" if she is going to be MIA. This is RUDE and unprofessional. If this is her business, she should have the common sense and courtesy to update her website. What is the point of even having one if it is wrong and misleading? It shocks me that someone who is trying to run a business would be so unprofessional. In any case, the owner then told us to try Kroger or La Madeline if we wanted desserts. REALLY?! Kroger or La Madeline??? This suggests that her products are comparable to grocery stores and chains. She didn't even apologize for the misinformation on HER website! After dinner Spiral Diner a few doors down on a Wednesday night we came here looking for macaroons and found a note on the door saying "out on a delivery, will be back soon". We waited and waited and finally the owner Samantha returned and let us in. Samantha was very friendly and talked with us about the dessert food scene in Dallas. Unfortunately, we left empty handed because she didn't have much in the way of inventory on hand except for a few muffins. I wish she had some of the wonderful cakes or macaroons I saw on her website and that people raved about on yelp. Her famous macaroons you have to order 24 hours in advance and minimum order is 1 dozen. Macaroons are labor intensive and highly perishable, So, she can't afford to stock them regularly until they become popular enough that she isn't tossing out unsold cookies that go stale. I am not sure her new location is doing her any favors in regards to foot traffic. Samantha was really helpful and sweet, and told us that we could probably get macaroons at Tart Bakery. I wish her all the best and hope her confections that aren't overly sweet catch on in Dallas. I went here planning on sucking up to my bf's mom over Christmas. She's obsessed with Macaroons and apparently had heard about this place through the grapevine!! (they're from Houston so I guess good news travels far!!) Anyway, I went in here over the Christmas holiday to pick up the Macaroons we had ordered. I got kinda lost on the way, but the place is super cute inside. Very quaint interior, but love the blue walls. Reminds me of a little bakery in Paris, very French. If you're looking for French macarons in Dallas, then this is the only place you should go. I've tried macarons across several places in Dallas, and none come even close to Samantha's macarons. Tart Bakery's macarons are too small, too chewy, and overpriced. Toni Rivari's macarons are truly disgusting (I threw away half a dozen, they were so bad)--too sugary, the cookies are hard and chewy at the same time, and the fillings are a nasty buttercream akin to grocery store frosting. In any case, Samantha's macarons use quality fillings (ganache, custards, jam fillings, etc.) rather than cheap buttercreams. The macarons are a satisfying size, and the cookie themselves are cooked to near perfection (e.g., right amount of chew vs. crisp, good sugar/almond flour ratio, etc.). She offers nearly 30 flavors for pre-orders. I look forward to going through them all. :) Per previous reviews, the only downsides are the hours and the pre-order set-up. You need to call her to place an order of at least a dozen ($28 with up to 3 flavors) that you will pick up the next day. She's located right next to Spiral Diner. I would suggest that you put in Spiral Diner in your GPS, not Rush Patisserie, because her pin on Google/Apple Maps isn't located accurately but if you route to Spiral Diner, you'll find her immediately since she's on the same block as them. read more

I went to Rush Patisserie because I went to culinary school and couldn't wait to meet another kindred spirit. Sadly, I was sorely disappointed. The first time I went to the shop, it was closed. Of course, I drove around like a crazy person because I didn't even realize where the shop was. The sign is miniscule and it is not easily noticed. There is also pretty sad looking decor in the place and with papers and newspapers stacked on the tables, it wasn't welcoming to people who would want to eat their pastries in the shop. The hours are also completely out of whack and I'm not sure who goes out to buy their pastries at such hours... The next time, I knew what the strange hours of operation were and came when I knew that it would be open. The shop owner greeted us in her sweat pants. We ordered from the 3 different kinds of pastries in the case and had to pay with exact change because she did not have any money in the register. This is incredibly unprofessional and I was instantly turned off. We took the pastries home and were prepared to be blown away by how amazing they were because of the poor presentation of the shop and owner... Sadly, they were only so-so. The flavors didn't taste especially fresh or delicious. Honestly, I think that the pastries at Whole Foods rivaled this joint. I don't recommend it if you want something remotely good. Great place and a hole In the wall. The lady who helped my man and I out this morning was phenomenal. Boy, does she sure know how to sell! The desserts were great, the only thing that kept me from giving you a perfect was that the macarons were a little stale. They had to be sitting there for a little while since I could hear my boyfriend crunching the heck out of them. The flavors were heavenly though!!! I've been here twice now, and it's becoming a favorite place. Sadly, Dallas is a baking wasteland. It's not easy to find good bread or good pastries. I've found some decent bakeries, but not patisseries. Until now. Her croissants are rich with butter, fermentation and good baking flavors. So many Americans under bake their croissants, so many demand them under baked. Rush Patisserie bakes them the way they should be baked, nice and caramelized. As with breads, the bulk of the flavor is in the crust, under bake it and you've shortchanged the crust. I love her croissants! While I haven't had the macarons everyone is raving about, I have had her Napoleons, her Nutella tart, and her chocolate ganache mini-cake. I'm not a fan, I'm a RAVING fan. Make sure to get here early in the day when they still have many of their goodies because they go fast! It was 1pm on a Sunday when I came and many of their baked goods were gone. I was still able to get an orange-cranberry muffin, a ham and cheese croissant sandwich, and an "un-cupcake" jar. Their "un-cupcake" jars is a jar with cupcake filling with icing and sprinkles (depending on the one you get) on top. It even comes with its own spoon! It's the perfect serving for one and is great on the go! The croissant sandwich was dryer and crunchier than I expected, rather than being soft and fluffy. The owner here, Samantha is ok with her customer service. Her shop hours confuses me.. She mainly bakes her good on a appointment/ call ahead basis on the week days and closes on 2pm and reopens at 6pm on the weekends. So basically she takes a four hour break and reopens so she can bake for the next day. The bakery itself is hard to find on the corner of Eldorado, of Oak Cliffe. The interior of the shop has Parisian inspired decor, but could use alittle bit more attention on the organization and such. I find that everytime I go... there are a few pastries to offer, I guess she tries to limit from over baking too much inventory. The macarons here are ok, the shell was dry and cracked as soon as I bit into the shell. The strawberry buttercream macaron has an artificial strawberry flavoring, I thought she could have been more liberal with the amount of buttercream. The strawberry flavor reminds me of a betty crocker strawberry cake mix. The pistachio macaron filling is decent, it could use some more nuts for a more robust flavor. The almond croissants are small and crusty. I like the almond paste filling that she fills them up with. Although I was not a fan of the overly browness of my croissants. Last but not least... cupcake in a jar. I got the red velvet. I have to admit that it doesn't look really appealing at first, but once you try it, it's really good. read more

It was a little hard to find and the place is very small, but the desserts are so worth it!! I bought a variety of pastries for a party I was hosting and everything I ordered was five star! The Napoleons are what the magazine focused on, so I had to get a couple of those and they were outstanding. I also had the pecan tart, lemon tart, coconut cake, black and white cookies and all were so good, especially the coconut cake - to die for!! I had called Samantha during the week to hear the description of her black and white as I have found varying degrees of cookie during my quest. Black and whites are really somewhat of a flat cake. She described the cookies and I placed my order. Since this type of cookie is not a quick turnaround bakery item in Dallas, you should call Samantha and place an order. I ordered on Thursday to pick up on Sunday. Parking is horrible but that's because of the area itself with many restaurants and not enough parking. Do not give up! Find a spot! Here you will not find the typical $3.50 muffins, but rather a more humble price point on most goods--about $1 less than other "upscale" bakeries. Specifically, their blueberry muffin sparked up some interest. Who does not love muffin tops? Not talking about the cosmetic issue, mind you. The upper deck here boasts a crunchy sugar coat, with a hint of sweet. The interior offers up nice swirls of some blueberry jam-like substance. Really smooth. I was going to take a peek at Spiral Bakery when I discovered this place. First of all, it was beautifully adorable. I never imagined I would ever find a place like this by chance. And the desserts.... they looked like the desserts that I loved staring in the dessert cases in Italy (if I had been to Paris/France, I would probably be able to say the same?). Samantha was so informative when describing all the desserts for me, and I love how she used patisserie language! It shows her passion for her desserts and to spread that patisserie culture. I got the caramel walnut, almond and pecan tart, this delightful vanilla cake, and two pistachio macaroons. (Yes even thought she carefully explained the names of everything.... I forgot the proper names already). The macaroons were yummy. I am not the biggest pan of sweet nut tarts (but my friend who I got it for is and she was soooo in love, she basically ate it all in one sitting), but the vanilla cake was perfectly fluffly, which is my favorite component of all cakes! Best Mille Fueille / Napoleon in Dallas metroplex! I just got back from a pastry class from Paris and have been on the hunt for good Mille Fueille (million later) dessert ever since. I've had no luck in San Francisco, if you can believe it. However found this true gem, Rush Patisserie. I was only in town for a few days and HAD to find time to go since I'm staying all the way in Plano. It was definitely worth the drive! Samantha Rush, the chef, was able to save me two pieces while I rushed there as fast as I could to buy it. (They sell out early in the day) That was above and beyond for her to do that and I soooo appreciated it. She has traveled and lived in New York (originally from here), Bay Area and now Dallas and she's go mad pastry chef skills! One bite of her Mille Fueille and I was in heaven. It's made fresh EVERY DAY!!!! It was just the right amount of flaky, buttery, creamy, sweet but not too sweet, goodness!!!! I'm going to have to make this a required stop when I visit home from now on. Definitely recommend for anyone traveling to the Big D in the future read more

It was expensive. I got for little macaroons and a chocolate croissant for $13.75. the macaroons were very small compared to what I normally see at other places. She didn't have anything for sale really because you have to place orders in advance. Not only was she unprofessional but imy girlfriend and I had to dig for exact change to pay for the items. read more

Yummy macarons! Delicate and fragile on the outside, creamy and light on the inside...I cannot imagine a more perfect macaron outside of Paris! I placed an order for 2 dozen assorted and they were worth every penny. Went in on Valentine's Day to pick up some macaroons for my mom-who loves them. Ended up leaving with 10 macaroons and a cashew milk chocolate ganache mini cake. The place is small and has weird hours, but it's Oak Cliff and the whole neighborhood is that way-who cares. That cashew milk chocolate ganache was by far the best dessert I've ever had. It was perfect. I'll be going back to try more and will refer everyone I know to go as well! read more

The owner/baker made the most wonderful Epiphany cake for us, it was buttery and delicious. The little "feve" inside was a bit too large but that didn't stop any of us from enjoying the delicious "galette". These are usually eaten on January 6th but she was kind enough to accommodate us and make it for new year's eve. I only give it 4 stars because of the facilities, they are not very inviting.
