From the office staff to the damn doctor, literally all of them argued about where my last procedures were done to why I was there. And when they finally realized I was right, no apologizes.

#thankfulthursday…read more Healthcare workers deserve more recognition. Sometimes, things happen and they have to stay calm and professional while keeping their sense of humor and getting the job done... I appreciate Dr. Morisaki and his staff because they are a great team. Everyone was cheerful and informative! They made sure that I understood what was going to happen and how to prepare for the procedure. Dr. Morisaki even called me a few days after the procedure to follow up with me! Dr. Morisaki has two offices: one at Kuakini Physicians Tower in Honolulu and one in Aiea. I chose Kuakini. It has validated covered parking and a safe, locked restroom down the hallway. My friend, Paul C., taught me to bring some treats for the office staff. After I "recovered", I was able to get a box of baked manapua, bring it to the Kuakini Medical Center, and call the office so someone could meet me at the Ground Level, and wrap each manapua individually in a bags (COVID protocol). She brought some gloves so we were able to keep the manapua "clean". Haha! The look of gratitude on her face was priceless. It was as if no other patient remembered them and their hard work. I told her that I couldn't do her job... And it's true! I asked her to give some treats to the Recovery Room staff also. The office staff were great and the Recovery Room nurses were fabulous because they fed me after I woke up from anesthesia. They asked me if I wanted apple juice or graham crackers. I answered, "Both, please!" They asked me if I wanted more... I answered, "Yes, please!" Gosh ..those were the best graham crackers ever... So yummy, light and crisp! I sure enjoyed eating them! LOL! Thank you to Dr. Morisaki and his staff for taking good care of me! Remember your healthcare worker today!

I informed them that I do not have a PCP since UHA does not need a PCP referral and that I can directly schedule with the provider. She was adamant about having a PCP which again what does one do if I don't have a PCP and I am 45 just needing a screening. OMG at least the other office I just called also asked for a PCP referral and when asked I said to just do a screening cause of my age. OMG. Are we in the 1990's for medical care? Interesting if you search the HGSAIEA it is the same site, location, etc as Robert Wong.

My procedure took abut 45 minutes and he was able to find polyps and remove them. The staff at Pacific Endoscopy are very, very nice as well. To maintain your privacy, you are assigned a number, so they call your number instead of your name when the nurses are ready to prep you. Although I could only see his eyes, in my drug-hazed state, Dr. Wong reminded me of my husband at the same age. That was strangely comforting to me. Dr. Wong and Pacific Endoscopy were very good about giving me instructions, such as the day-before prep (not fun), and what to do on the day of your procedure. They provided me with a Medi-Van service number that I could call, since I wasn't able to drive home after the procedures. They are very thorough in telling patients what to do and expect with these procedures.

I see some people complaining about waiting time but he spends proper time with his patients so of course its going to be long, its not urgent care for christ sake! We've had times when he followed up with personal calls every night to see progress. Not many DRs do that. My mother has nurse friends and they all have good things to say about his skills. The reception people are pretty nice too! If you want a DR that doesn't brush you away, he is the one to go to.

However, after eating a pre-packaged salad at Ala Moana, I started feeling sick and began violently throwing up for two days. Shortly after throwing up, I began bleeding out of my rectum. My wife was very concerned because of my history with colon cancer so she contacted (MY) GI doctor. With time passing quickly and with no response from MY GI doctor, my wife suggested we call (HER) GI doctor. When we called, Jenny immediately answered the phone and we explained to her our situation. Jenny transferred us to Jasmine who along with Jenny recognized the urgency and scheduled an appointment to see Dr. Marutani. Dr. Marutani is a no nonsense knowledgeable and kind doctor. He immediately inspected and assessed my bleeding condition and prescribed medication for treatment. Dr Marutani also called me the following day in the evening, after a day of surgeries to let me know that my blood work came back normal. I cannot give Doctor Marutani and his staff enough praise. I am now definitely more comfortable doing colonoscopies in the hands of Dr. Marutani and I consider him my new doctor. Dan Sparks
