He also kept questioning what I was telling him as if what I was asking for was unfathomable for him. First, this place does do long hair cuts for women. A shampoo, cut, and blow dry was $40 with Rachel, the co-owner. Second, all the products they use are vegan and not tested on animals. The packaging is even biodegradable. Third, appointments are strongly encouraged as they tend to get full booked for Thursday, Friday, Saturday. I got a nice haircut here. My only issues were I don't like having the "weight" taken out of my hair and I didn't know that was going to happen until it was happening. Very disappointed in the business, and I didn't even make it to the barber chair. I booked a last-minute appointment via phone this afternoon, and arrived a few minutes early. NO ONE greeted me or otherwise acknowledged my arrival or presence. There were 5 barbers cutting and not a single one could say, "Hi there, someone will be with you in a moment." I sat waiting patiently for about 10 minutes, when one barber finished with a client, cashed him out, then strolled around the store BS-ing with the other folks, again, not even acknowledging me sitting there. I gave it another 5 minutes, and finally got up and walked out. I get that places run behind and get busy, but the complete lack of even a nod acknowledging me waiting is unacceptable. My old barber had warned me about this place, telling me how many haircuts he had to 'fix' from people who went there, but I figured that was a while ago and why not give them a shot -- after all, it's my neighborhood and I'd like to support local business. Clearly they specialize in the hipster cuts and making you look like a Euro soccer star, which is not my thing, but my cut is always pretty simple. Again, I wanted to support them. The hair makes the man and anyone who says otherwise is lying. That being said, I'm very particular about who I let cut mine. I've seen Brian several times now and he never disappoints. On my first appointment I described exactly what I want and he nailed it. Since then he has given time to get to know me and knows what helps the shape of my face. Brian is talented, funny, friendly, and really cares about your experience. His talent and pride show in the scalp art he creates with every cut. Tyler is an amazing barber and he's cut my hair a number of times now. Due to my profession, I need to maintain a clean and neat look and Tyler has never failed to maintain the exact look that I require and even gave excellent recommendations that complimented the shape of my face. He is extremely talented, friendly and personable. There was one appointment that I had with him on my birthday so as to look presentable for my date with my girlfriend. I can understand his frustration, but the barber hurried through the cut, barely spoke to me, and wouldn't even let me turn around in the chair to see the final result after the cut was finished. This has been my go-to shop for about two years and it appears that it's sinking. If the walk to the bathroom doesn't kill you with that faux hardwood that is peeling like an albino in the sun, the customer service will. I had an appointment with O Roberts recently that was cancelled because he no longer works there. No problem he obviously saw the writing on the wall. My issue with the whole thing was I was never told that he did not work there any longer. Made my appointment like usual for a haircut and trim with O and that's where the great experience ended. I got to the shop and was told that O doesn't work here anymore and I would be with someone else. Since the ownership loves food I'll put it to them another way; you go out to McDonalds (no affiliation) and proceed to order Chicken McNuggets. They take your order knowing they don't have the most critical of ingredients to the McNuggets. THE CHICKEN. The McDonald's management has the staff prepare you a burger and after waiting for your food, hands you a bag and then says sorry we are out of Chicken McNuggets here's a burger. Hopefully soon the Rust Belt Barbering Company can get it together and peel the holiday tape off the death trap of a floor and take some pride in serving the clientele that is slowly going elsewhere. It was a little out of the way from where I lived, but I was desperate. Went on their site and easily made an appointment for an hour later. Got there and was told my barber was finishing up another person - no problem. They offered me a beer while I waited, which is amazing. When I sat in the chair, I immediately felt comfortable and the barber "O" was really cool. He faded my sides like a pro - came out perfectly. He didn't seem as confident once he had to cut the top with scissors so he took his time with it, but it still came out amazing. I've been going to Rust Belt for about a year now. Leah always does a great job and I enjoy my conversations with her. The place is rustic with cool decor and an alternative feel and they will offer you a brewski if you're so inclined. Their App lets you reserve and pay online which helps you get in and out even more quickly. My hairstyle is fairly simple but I see some real art work and skill when I'm there from all the hairstylists. I have really come to like the place and find Leah's work excellent. This place is freaking great! I'm so glad I took the chance in coming here. The price for a women's haircut is a FRACTION of what you pay at a salon, but I feel like the styles are so much more current and cool, especially for short hair. I've seen both Eddie and Megan, and they are both hilarious and amazingly skilled. The last time I visited was really just for a trim, and Megan charged me accordingly which blew my mind! Even if I came here every month of the year for a trim, it would be cost equivalent to 2 haircuts at the salons I've gone to. 12 haircuts, or 2?? When you have a pixie or a sleek style, this is KEY to maintenance. And I'd much rather pay for trims here than at expensive salons monthly or every 6 weeks. They don't typically shampoo here - always fine by me, especially with short hair - but they will add product and blow dry. I really recommend getting clipped here. They even offered my mom a PBR (she got her hair cut here too)! Hahaha! You can book appointments online, which is totally my preference too. I hate having to call haha! And it doesn't even matter who you choose for your clip because they are ALL GOOD!! This is totally my new hair place. I love it! read more

I needed my hair cut on a Monday and this was one of the only places open. Upon arriving, Rachel offered a beer (awesome!) and took me to her chair to tell her what I wanted, washed it, and cut it. The haircut is exactly what I wanted. Rachel was super friendly and knowledgeable. She is the only long hair person here. Looking around this place, all of the other employees here were taking great care of their clients, whether it was a shave or haircut or both. The decor and look of this place is great too. The space is good, very energetic, they offer you drinks while you wait, there seems to be good client relations. I would second the very hipster vibe of the place, but that shouldn't be a deterrent.
