I am from the Los Angeles area, and as Asian woman with wavy hair (and a lot of it), I have not had great experiences at most hairdressers in Buffalo. Because of that, I've resorted to getting my haircuts in Toronto for many years. It wasn't until I found Salon Berardo that I finally started getting my haircuts in the Buffalo area! The hairdressers at this establishment are amazing and truly understand hairdressing as a craft and art. I have never been disappointed. I usually go to Korean hair salons in Toronto, but wanted to explore and see if there were any Asian hair salons in Buffalo. Unfortunately, there are no Asian hair salons in the Buffalo area, BUT when I typed in "Asian hair" in Yelp, this place was on the top of the list! I saw a couple reviews by Asian customers who've been here too and thought I'd try it out. This place only takes appointments, so I called in on a Thursday to make an appointment with Chelsea, and they booked me for the following Wednesday. (They rarely take walk-ins, so plan accordingly.) Upon my arrival, Chelsea greeted me and took me to the "Color Room". If you're coloring your hair, they'll do it in the Color Room, where they have better access to all the color tubes. After I had my roots colored, I was taken to the shampoo area where Chelsea washed my hair. I think it took about an hour+ to get my roots colored. For the hair cut + thinning out + styling part of my visit, I was taken to the "main" salon area, where there were more chairs. It took about 20-30 minutes for this part of my visit. Chelsea did an AMAAAAZZZZING job. I was so satisfied with the results! If you're looking for a place to get your hair done, I would highly recommend this place; especially Chelsea! She's such a sweet person and great artist with hair! :) read more

I'm so happy that I've found the best salon here in Buffalo! First let me just start off- I have Asian hair. Not many hairstylists here knows how to deal with Asian hair, especially where it comes to coloring. I went to do a consulting first with Chelsea and after hearing her explain the steps that it will take to achieve what I want: ashy blonde from really dark brown hair with drug store hair dye (brasiness). Salon Berardo is amazing. The place is so clean and the lighting is so nice inside! Care always does an amazing job on my hair plus she is super fun to talk to! I am always picky about hair stylists and having to force conversations, etc. and it's so nice to have someone who is super sweet to talk to. I always walk out more relaxed! I am a guy obviously but I know a couple girls who get their hair styled by her and I am always blown away by their hair. I had Care do ombré for me. I was bleach blonde (not natural looking) and washed out. She made me beautiful and the exact style I was looking for. She also waxed my brows and trust me I am picky !!!! I will go back several times and would recommend to all the blondes out there! read more

I decided to swing by before just calling this salon to book an appointment with a random stylist. This was the best decision I've made in a while. You know those salons that just make you feel embarrassed for your past choices or past stylists? you know those stylists who basically laugh when you show them a picture of Beyonce's hair and they think that you are asking to look like Beyonce? UGH! I can't stand them and there are more of those douchebags (despite their level of talent) than not. But not that this place. This is the most down to earth, hip, comfortable, classy and real salon. I just moved to the area from Boston so I didn't want any fake city-like salon, nor did I want a town and country type spot that reminded me that I don't belong here. This place is perfect. When I first walked in Danielle listened to my concerns and put up with my long BS of a story. She was totally chill and I was waiting for her to tell me that my past life's obsession with extensions was bad. She said she'd be happy to see me or she could schedule me with her colleague, Care. I ended up going with Care because of the time that she could see me. Care was awesome. She's very unassuming and didn't make me feel like a complete jack ass for my adventures with each and every product sold at Sally's. She worked with what I had and didn't focus on what I don't have. She kept insisting that I be as picky with her as I'd like so that I leave with the perfect cut. (WHHHHHAAAATTTTT!?!?!!?) I'm stupidly picky and never did Care make me feel like I was being too much. From the first phone conversation to book my appointment to jumping ahead one year, Danielle still remains on the top for hairdresser! Every time I go in, there is no forced conversation, it is like catching up with an old friend. She will listen to anything you want to do with your hair, but will add her professional suggestion in with care and consideration. I fully believe it's 60/40 when you visit a salon to have your hair done the way you want to the relationship and experience. I would recommend Danielle in a heartbeat to anyone! This salon is incredible!!! Not only is the decor is beautiful but they will do amazing things to your hair. I'd wanted to try the trendy grey color for a while but I didn't want to go to just any salon. I'd seen a friend on instagram who'd done something similar to her hair and i scrolled through her photos to find out what salon she'd gone to. I set up an appointment with the same stylist, Care F., and I was not disappointed. She was enthusiastic about the whole process and (after 4 hours of dyeing and rinsing) got the color absolutely perfect. I was really nervous about trying this color because it involves a lot of bleach and I'd bleached part of my hair before but my hair is even softer now! Chelsea P. is absolutely stellar-- I don't trust anyone else with my hair, and she gets it perfect every time. She listens and asks questions, so if you only want an inch off, you'll actually get an inch off. Every time I go in for a cut and color, I bring pictures with me of what I want and she replicates it perfectly. I had her fix a terrible dye job from a former salon, I had her style my hair for a wedding, and I've had her do my routine cut & dye for a long time and I'll never go anywhere else. Generally I use social media to find what's new in terms of beauty around Buffalo. Alas, I started following Care from Salon Berardo and decided to go there because of all the awesome hairstyles and cuts I saw her post. I loved it as soon as I walked in! The salon is gorgeous - everything is very clean, and the staff is very friendly and great to chat with. I LOVED what Care did with my hair (cut, color, and style)! Prior to finding her, I was paying an embarrassingly high amount of money to a salon in Buffalo, and I swear my grays would pop through the next day. I mentioned this to Care, and after she colored my hair that first time, I didn't see gray for almost five weeks! She is great at listening to what you want and works with you to see your wishes through. And her Tuesday Tutorials on Instagram speak to her passion for beauty, and I think it shows she is current with hair trends.
