My favorite place to go! Vibes of Cheers with modern craft cocktails. I own ever spirit type and enjoy the monthly rotation of unique cocktails. Gin, bourbon, rye, vodka, cinnamon whiskey and house made concoctions that will satisfy anyone's pallet. They even off non-alcoholic options with unique flavors. We were out on a chill night to drink around town. I think we started with drinks and dindin at some restaurant synonymous with "Bold Chicagoan." So we wanted to continue a bit with some craft cocktails and I told them I know of just a place where it's not rowdy and conducive to sitting down and talking some more. The ambiance here is really nice. As explained before on a previous event we went to here. They have this whole steam punk theme going on. Which means, industrial chic to the max. I love the light fixtures. Let it be known that this spot is the main distillery and the place you're sitting in is pretty much the tasting room. Which means, the focus is more on the drinks and not food. I've tried the Sinnamon Jones, White Squirrel and the Greystache. They're all good drinks,, but my favorite one out of the three I tried is the Greystsche. It just has the best flavor and not as sweet as the other drinks. This is a great place to drink,, the only minor demerit I can think of is that they lack the presence of dark liqour. About a year back I know they had whisky is bourbon before, but I take it the production of batches are taking a little longer than the demand. None the less, I still would come and enjoy this place because it's one of those spots that you would never find someone with a "just turned 21" tiara or the social suicide "bachelorette" sash. This is one of the coolest bars to lounge around in. The architecture and decor are dark and Victorian. You never run out of things to look at on the walls, but in a classy way, not an Applebee's sort of way. The booze is smooth... almost too smooth. They usually have live music during the evenings, too. Previously, they didn't offer food and you could bring goodies in from surrounding restaurants. Gone are those days, as Rusted Crow now offers pizza, cheese bread and soft pretzels! Pizzas are $11, where pretzels and bread will run you $5-$7. The bartenders and servers are so welcoming. I felt like a regular after my second visit because Amanda immediately recognized me and remembered my drink order. Drinks are a bit pricey ($8-10) but definitely cost less than what you'd pay for a craft cocktail in Detroit. Their Detroit Steam vodka is hands-down the smoothest vodka I've ever had. Even in a rocks glass with just a splash of pineapple juice, I couldn't detect the alcohol burn. Treat yourself to a couple craft cocktails from Rusted Crow. It's worth it. read more

I've been meaning to try this place for a while - and now they've been here 2 years. How did I let a distillery sit open in my backyard for 2 years without sampling? The place has a cozy atmosphere. They have a great happy hour special on Thursdays. The cocktails are master craftsman style - muddled fruit, exotic ingredients - and the booze they distill here is respectable. The vodka is good, the bourbon is decent, and the moonshine is great. The bottles you can buy are fantastic! Beautiful artwork and almost like a collectible item for friends and family. Makes a great gift. I think that for $30 you can get a better fifth of vodka or gin, but the local business factor makes it a good gift to give. read more

A Groupon put Rusted Crow on my radar (thanks Groupon!). We enjoyed the deal's liquor sampler and tour ("tour" is a bit fancy for the 15 minute "here's where we do the magic" talk we received, but I like seeing what's behind the curtain!). Enough so that we've been back for drinks and have purchased their bottled liquor to enjoy at home (gin and rum). Smallish interior. Hideous, horrible, ugly parking - literally 3 spots in front (check their website because it shows their other lot NOT adjacent to the building). We've enjoyed the crew, who've been fun and informative each time. They were setting up for live music (acoustic) one of our visits. We couldn't stick around to hear the guy, but cool interior, hard liquor and live music = good stuff! read more

Stopped by for some curbside pickup and received excellent service! I had never been to the main distillery here and didn't realize they were located right on Telegraph. Rusted Crow is super convenient to get to. There's parking and street parking down a side street also. When I arrived, I called and my order was brought out immediately. Less than a minute later, I had my bag of goodies and was back on the road. I so appreciated this as I had kids in the car and didn't want to lug them inside. I think a lot of people confuse this place with the location downtown. It doesn't have food! Came here for date night with the husband and was disappointed there wasn't food- there is at the downtown location. However, the drinks are amazing! make sure to check out their happy hour for cheaper prices. We loved the Detroit Steamsicle which was their version of a creamsicle, Rosemary's Baby, and Bermuda Triangle. Not only were the drinks delicious, they were beautiful, with a lot of thought put into the presentations and garnishes. There was talk of bourbon being available around this time of the year so we'll be back to check it out! Parking isn't the greatest but they weren't busy. The interior is pretty cool too with a steam punk vibe, open air seating, and live music. I wish I remembered the name, but there was a tater tot food truck outside the venue selling THE most amazing tots. It deserves a separate review. After my last experience here - giving two stars in generous. First, for those going for the first time - parking is basically nonexistent for this place. You have to park in the neighborhood or in one of the four spots available. Next, it's a tiny place with all hard surfaces so it gets loud quickly. On the plus side there isn't any televisions in the space and visual appeal of the bar is great. My last experience though will be my last time at this establishment. It was apparently the first time they had someone serving food in this place - or it was a special event. Regardless, when your entire staff disappears to test the food and ignore all of your guests that's a serious issue. We sat and then waited probably close to 10-15 minutes for our server to return because she was testing all the food. Okay - this all should have been handled before opening. We were there and hour after opening. Finally, another server took our order and we eventually got our drinks, which weren't spectacular my any means. Average at best and that's not good when you have some great places to go in Detroit. Basically, if you haven't gathered - the staff/service is why I will not be going back. If I want good mixed cocktails done right I'll stick to Sugar House, Two James, and others. Plus, I can actually park there and get great service. read more

This place is doing a good thing! I like the space and I like the personality, not only of the business but the people taking care of the patrons who enjoy their products. And as far as spirits go and the new distillery craze, I like Rusted Crow's products a lot. Their vodka is a nice straight sipper, the rum was smooth, and their gin, as touted, is clean and light on the juniper. I could get down with it, even on the rocks. Their product labels are eye catching, have a great backstory and are well conceived. Now it's just a little wait until the unveil for their Bourbon Whiskey...nicely done RC! In the meantime, take a looksee and check them out. They have live entertainment during the week and weekend and some interesting craft cocktails you should tryout. I am so glad a place like this popped up on this area. Their Gin as super good. My favorite drink so far has been the one with gin, elderflower syrup, and fresh lemon juice. They just expanded their menu so now there is many more drinks for me to try. Basically 9 and 10$ craft cocktails. Which is common prices for this type of drinks anywhere else. Our distiller Andrew was so full of information in the process which gave me a better understanding of the process. We don't get down to Dearborn often, but this place is worth the trip! The drinks were great (even though they don't have whiskey or bourbon ready yet). Service was above and beyond what was expected. Along with our cocktails, they brought each of the distilled spirits straight so we could taste them in their natural state. They even let us try a few that aren't available yet like the jalapeño pineapple and the camomile infused vodkas. Great atmosphere too. I mean someone put a lot of time, thought and effort into this place, as it's obvious a lot of the decor was hand forged or hand made. Really cool place if you are down that way! The inside is amazing. I am an extremely cool hipster and I felt right at home when I walked in. I also really like their name and brand imaging. There were 2 main rooms. They are both small but have a ton of character. I sat at the bar, like usual. The bar is average sized and behind the bar is bottles of their different distilled alcohols. The drink I ordered was fantastic. I can't remember the name of the drink, but it had gin, and egg in it. Yum. My gf liked her drink also. I would give them 5 stars but the parking isn't optimal and they don't have any whiskey yet. I'll come back and if they have delicious whiskey, I'll update my review to 5 stars. read more

This is the type of place I imagine in my head when someone says "craft distillery". That's a huge compliment. They are clearly new, so only 3 spirits available. The good news is that they are all tasty and the bartenders mix a mean cocktail. The space is well appointed and I'm excited to come back and see how they develop it. Love the décor inside this place! The style is Steampunk, and it's very warm and inviting. Parking can be a little bit challenging, but they are working on some solutions for that. They young ladies at the bar are amazing mixologists ~ Amanda mixed my Crowstache to perfection, the presentation was beautiful, and it tasted amazing! I'm not usually a Gin fan, but I must say I liked their Gin so much that my husband and I purchased a bottle to bring home. It's a little on the pricey side, but well worth the cost as you can certainly tell you are getting quality, and not to mention its locally distilled and the art on the bottle is very unique - I don't think I'll be throwing this bottle away once its empty, it's a keeper as far as art goes. I am very excited to have a distillery so close to my home; we need more places like this in the Dearborn/Dearborn Hgts/Taylor area. I will definitely be returning here to try out their vodka next, they are also currently distilling whiskey (it has a little ways to go to age properly), but I'll be trying that once it available too! read more

Staff was completely wasted by 1015pm on a Saturday night. Took our order a few times but never fulfilled. They mostly socialized with friends of theirs and regulars. We left after ordering a shot we knew would come immediately (minimal effort). What is management thinking letting this happen on a weekend night? I really like this place though I've only been once...the day they opened. It's really tiny & didn't have much seating though I was told they added more. We weren't offered a tour or anything which I thought we would but we didn't ask either which I suppose we should have! It's really dark & I love the decor...pretty much all wood, metals & soft lighting. The drinks were good but weak, between myself & 6 friends we tried 5 different cocktails & they were yummy but you couldn't taste the liquor at all & not in a "this is smooth" way but more like a "is there any alcohol in this" way. After we tried the cocktails we just switched to straight liquor & the vodka was really good & my friends said the gin was as well but I don't like gin so I didn't try it. My biggest complaint is that I primarily drink whiskey & they didn't have any...they posted a few months back on their FB page that they were making some but I don't think they have it yet. Once they have whiskey available I think I will be here more often. The parking here is VERY limited, like 4 spaces BUT they do have a lot about 2 buildings North of their place, it's fenced & now has a sign on it noting it's extra parking for Rusted Crow. read more
