Translation: no waiting, plenty of neon, and a whole lot of quirky dive bar charm. The place is exactly what you want in a dive bar: neon lights, old band memorabilia, and that fun, laid-back vibe. We grabbed a table, got our drinks fast, and put in our order. I went with the chicken fried chicken (because why not go full comfort mode?), and my husband ordered the patty melt with tots. He wanted prime rib, but it was not quite ready yet. Heartbreaking, but he rebounded by adding a side of chicken gizzards. He swears they are good here, and I took his word for it because that is as far as I was going with those. My chicken-fried chicken came with a side salad. Was it underwhelming? Yes. Was it fresh? Also yes. But let's be honest, nobody comes to Buck's for the lettuce. The mains arrived hot, in hearty portions that made me instantly resign myself to leftovers, which is not a bad problem to have. The staff was awesome. They all worked together, kept our drinks full, and just seemed like they were having a good time themselves. With big portions, tasty food, and a friendly vibe all around, Buck's was the perfect spot to celebrate a Husker win. We will definitely swing back through when we are in that neck of the woods again.

When my buddy and I walked in the door there were exactly two empty seats that were together left in the place. But as we headed towards them we were bum-rushed by two little kids who came in the door behind us, rushed past, and plopped down in those seats. The other customers saw what happened, and without prompting, they all got up and shuffled around to open up two more seats for us. That nice welcoming got the visit off to a good start. :) We didn't get to talk much to the bartender but that was understandable as she was VERY busy. We did talk to several of the locals, who were very friendly and made us feel right at home. The kitchen serves up various lunch and dinner specials throughout the week, including post roast, prime rib, chicken, tenderloins, prime rib sandwiches, fish, meatloaf, and more. Breakfast is also served on Saturday morning. I didn't get the impression that it was a frequent occurrence, but the bar does host live entertainment from time to time. The people of Murdock are lucky to have such a nice gathering spot!

The sparse crowd in here was pretty typical of the places we visited. The bar's interior has a late-70s renovation look to it, but the space still manages to retain most of its century-old character. The bar includes two pool tables, pinball, dart boards, a jukebox, an ATM, and a few video games. There are also multiple TVs throughout the bar. Our beers were $1.80 each, a rather odd price. Watch yourself when entering the bar. One of the dart boards is immediately to the right just inside the front door, while the taped line is to the left of the front door. I about got hit walking in!
