Stopped at Buck's on the way home from a Husker game for an early dinner, and honestly, it was the perfect post-game vibe. We hit that magical window around 4 PM, too late for lunch, too early for the dinner crowd, and definitely before the live music rush. Translation: no waiting, plenty of neon, and a whole lot of quirky dive bar charm. The place is exactly what you want in a dive bar: neon lights, old band memorabilia, and that fun, laid-back vibe. We grabbed a table, got our drinks fast, and put in our order. I went with the chicken fried chicken (because why not go full comfort mode?), and my husband ordered the patty melt with tots. He wanted prime rib, but it was not quite ready yet. Heartbreaking, but he rebounded by adding a side of chicken gizzards. He swears they are good here, and I took his word for it because that is as far as I was going with those. My chicken-fried chicken came with a side salad. Was it underwhelming? Yes. Was it fresh? Also yes. But let's be honest, nobody comes to Buck's for the lettuce. The mains arrived hot, in hearty portions that made me instantly resign myself to leftovers, which is not a bad problem to have. The staff was awesome. They all worked together, kept our drinks full, and just seemed like they were having a good time themselves. With big portions, tasty food, and a friendly vibe all around, Buck's was the perfect spot to celebrate a Husker win. We will definitely swing back through when we are in that neck of the woods again. read more

I wish more places offered live AFTERNOON music! We went on a Sunday afternoon for free live music and lunch! The place was really crowded but looked like all found a table as they have quite a few. I split a pork tenderloin with another. It was okay...a bit dry and tasteless but I am not a huge fan of them. Really wanted the fried chicken but they were out of dark pieces. Another in our group had the fried chicken sandwich and said they enjoyed it! Service was spot on and I was even given my own can of grapefruit juice to add to my drinks I ordered! The band was fun...just fun to have a live band to watch while eating lunch! Saw what looked like a bridal shower mini bus stop in with several coming in for a quick drink. They also have a decent patio area partially covered. Fun afternoon we will be back! read more

We came back on a live music Saturday (which sounds like it going to be more sparse per their Facebook) and it was fun. A full house. I do think it's pricey for the cover at $25 a person for a no name band, but I support the idea of locals heading out for music and dance. We just got a few rounds of beers, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Not much as changed since my last visit, it was just a busy and bustling as it was in 2021. read more

But we mostly go more often for the entertainment. My buddy and I are on the tenderloin trail. I was super excited to come to Bucks as I have heard many great things. Which made me even more disappointed for our meals. The service was solid it was a busy Tuesday night when we came in. Food took a very long time to come out which was fine it was busy and we were in no rush. Now to get to the food. The tenderloin was thoroughly disappointing. Was pretty dry and just didn't have flavor really. Like they forgot to season it. Also they tried to toast the buns but both ended up very charred and burnt on the edges. We both were disappointed. My side order of onion rings were fine but as you can see in the picture there was only 5 of them and not huge. Don't expect a huge portion or anything but felt like that was pretty light. My buddy said his tots were very good. Overall very disappointed in the tenderloin but have heard so many good things I'll come back and order something else. Hopefully just an off night or a kitchen mistake in seasoning. read more

I heard from a food group on Facebook that this place has a wonderful chicken fried steak. And they were correct. It was really good. One thing I liked about it was it was actually a 1 inch thick sirloin steak. It wasn't a minute steak that you see in most places. I like my chicken fried steak crust to be golden brown and there's was cooked a little longer and was darker brown, but it wasn't bad. From my pictures, you could see that I'm not a cream, gravy guy and most thankful that they had brown gravy. The potatoes and gravy along with the massive amount of green beans were awesome. As for the chicken fry steak, The crust needed to be thicker and since it was overcooked, I'd give it a B+. read more

Another try; another fail. Marginal. The Cokes were watered down. The chips were only partially cooked, half crisp and half playable and tough almost leather-like. The big enchilada was several notches below Taco Bell. Overall lousy food. The wait staff was excellent. read more

Fun atmosphere and decent food. I see why they have such a loyal following, and I'll bet the experiences get better as you spend more time in the restaurant. Bar is appropriately stocked for beer and Jack Daniel's. Servers are friendly and communicative. Food will take as long as it does to get a place to sit, and that is a while during peak times. Burger was fine, pickle chip appetizer was good, and the prime rib was ok but overdone. The "loaded potato" was wrapped in foil with no toppings. Giving this 4 stars because of the staff's effort. This hidden gem is just outside of Venice near two rivers state park. Looks a bit rough from the outside and the inside has the vibes of a small town bar and grill where you go to meet up with all your friends and family. Food was fantastic and the service was literally the best we ever experienced. The wait staff work together like a well oiled machine and we never had to wait for refills and they always checked to make sure our food was good and we had everything we needed. read more

We haven't gotten to Buck's for quite awhile so this was a treat. The place was hopping at 6:00 on a Saturday. We sat the bar and the bartenders were busy, friendly and fast. Our meals came out quickly and were delicious! Prime rib was seasoned perfectly and the chicken salad croissant was perfect for a hot day. Good bar food. Relaxed atmosphere. Appropriate prices. Great daily specials. Heard they make a great steak so I thought it'd be safe, but ordered medium and got well done. As well as two others at the table. I know this isn't a "steak place" and probably not made by an experienced chef, but if you're going to sell them and promote them on steak night then you should be able to at least get somewhat close to a medium. Great food, cold beer, fast and friendly service. Fantastic live music acts like Sunny Sweeny on 11/7. Owner Buck and Tara could not be nicer. As an added bonus, if you are a drunk obnoxious person interupting the live show even after the artist very politely asks you to hold it down, the other patrons might just chant STFU until you finally leave. The worst prime rib sandwich I've ever had. They didn't trim any of the fat off of it. Yes I know how a prime rib is served with the fat on but not on a sandwich. It was horrible. The AuJus was terrible as well. Trim the fat and change the AuJus to store bought would be my suggestion . I first played at this bar in 2015 or 2016. This venue taught me to never judge a book by it's cover. It is one of the best listening rooms in the area. The fans that frequent Buck's will also travel to see you in surrounding towns. They actually "support live music" in here. Quiet and respectful crowds who listen to the show. I always love eating their cheeseburgers and their fried pickles are badass. Highly recommend this roadhouse-esque, family-run business. If you want to be publicly humiliated and kicked out of a small Bar with no Ac for talking This is your Bar!!! I am a local and have been going to Bucks for years for dinner. I had out of town company come in so I called up to Bucks to see if they had anything going on. I was told there was going to be a band,so we decided to go up for dinner and dancing. When us girls arrived we got a table and ordered some food. We found out there was no band just a country act. We were game. My out of town friends introduced themselves to Buck and told him where they were from out of town visiting. The first act was great we ate sung along, visited, drank and did a little dancing. We were having a great time We went out to smoke and came back in to the head liner Clint Park already singing. We sat down and immediately it was apparent there was an issue. My visitor was yes a little friendly letting him know she was from KC. He promptly told her I don't care where the F$@k you are from sit down!! On the mic publicly. As the owner stood by and watched. As on owner he should have quietly addressed any miscommunications. She sat down and we continued to visit and listen to his music he then again stopped and said are you going to listen to the show or talk. At first I thought he was joking after all we were in a bar. He then told 4 women to shut the F#*k up and leave. Buck stood next to him the whole time and not a word was said. We got up and left with a few choice words. As were were then told to leave the property. I was there with other locals and neither myself or them will ever set foot in his bar again!! This is the most unprofessional conduct for an establishment I have ever seen. I have spoken to other locals who have witnessed similar occurrences. Who gots kicked out or a bar for talking. Not to mention the arrogance of Clint Park. If he can't handle people talking during his show he will not make it very far and bad new travels fast. read more

Went on a Friday night, which is Chicken Fried Steak night, and had the BEST Chicken Fried Steak in a 50 mile radius and best I've had around here in 30 years! Perfectly made! (I know what a REAL Chicken Fried Steak should taste like as I'm an old Southern boy and this one made me homesick!) As a matter of fact everything was perfect! Too bad I can't give 'ol Buck 10 stars! Met some nice people. The wait staff, well every place in Omaha should learn from these ladies! Every time one would pass us, they would ask if we needed anything! We'll be making Buck's a regular place. The rest of you stay away so I don't have to wait! LOL If you find anything to complain about here, then the problem is more than likely YOU! hahaha If you like good 'ol down home cooking, then this is the place for you!
