After a 45 minute discussion about the cars and the track. I put on my racing gear (I brought my own). and headed over to the cars. The cars here were Late Models, which are somewhat different than cup cars but still fast. The cars were being used hourly so it was amazing that they were in pretty good shape. The only appearance of heavy useage was the steering wheel on my car was somewhat ragged. I got on the track and passed everyone. I wasn't afraid to floor it in the straights and I suspect this is the only place you can do this without buying your own car. Wish it could have lasted longer! LOL Great time!

We came here for the first time for GoKarting for Father's Day and had a great time!…read more It is a bit of a loud environment but the tunes playing were enjoyable. Even though we signed waivers in advance there was a computer snafu and they had to redo them for our whole party making the check in a fairly long process. In general the communication/ process for getting ready and starting the GoKarting didn't feel super smooth as the passenger but you could tell the staff was organized and knew what they were doing. They were also super flexible when one round they accidentally had child settings on some of our karts and let us redo the round. The go karting was super fun and it was great that we got to do both tracks. Special shout out to manager David. We had dressed up as our dad from various eras for Father's Day and he loved our vibe so much he offered us a free round of virtual darts! The darts were fun although not as thrilling as the GoKarting, kinda similar vibe to bowling. Overall we had a great time go karting and staff was super pleasant and helpful, would recommend.

Most of the rest of the group did and it was fun to watch as well. The track was cool and reminded me of the old Tyco tracks that snapped together with hills and levels and bridges and such. Gave this driving experience a shot in July, when they came to Stafford CT. Seeing that the driver…read moreis a car enthusiast, builds/modifies cars & loves speed, I thought this would be a great gift. The timeslot is 3p. We arrived 10mins before 2:30p. A class was being done right behind the bleachers, in the sun. Not sure why they wouldn't have the class on the side of the building, further away from the track (noise). Anyway, we walked up to the trailer, directly behind the class, to do registration. Which was just filling out a form. We decided to buy the insurance for peace of mind. Since we were early, we watched the current races being done. Some drivers were slow & some were ripping the track. As newbies, we assumed they were all novices. So the driver was getting excited to get out there. Around 3:10p, the class starts. I sit in the shade, behind the bleachers, so I, the spectator, can hear only some of what is being said. How to strap in, attach the helmet, ear pieces, spin out instructions, etc. About 40mins pass & the class is over. We head over to the track & wait another 10mkns before the group is escorted through the gate & across the track. Spectator's POV: The drivers pick out their suits & helmets & go under a tent to get geared up. They are then matched up with a vehicle, pictures are taken whether you paid for them or not. Cars are given the "green light" to go. One car was given a push, others just eased their way out to the small track. Maybe 1/2 mile with 2 curves. You can tell the first lap, the driver is getting acclimated to the vehicle. Once that's done, you see they're picking up speed, then slowing down, but not because of the curve, it's peculiar from this POV. Just our luck, 1 lap in & we get a guy that slams into the wall. My driver had to stop on the side, while the tow truck & ambulance assess the situation. Luckily the person is ok & was pushed off the track by the truck. After about 15mins the race resumes. However, now my driver is the only one on the track. He was the 2nd car released. Another car didn't get on the track until he was into his 8th lap. Imo, I think it would have been more exciting with more cars on the track, to really get a racing experience. As he's completing his 10th lap & coming in, that's when the rest of the cars were finally released. Again, in my opinion, it wasn't really a true racing feel. Now, he has taken off the gear & he's in the pit watching everyone else race. Once the entire group has finished, they are escorted back across the grass, to the bleachers. Driver's POV: The class was very informative & I felt secure in operating the vehicle. I'm escorted across the field, pick out the firesuit & helmet. I'm glad I wore shorts & a tshirt. I'm paired with a car & a spotter, & I choose to sit on the door frame, feet in the car for my picture. The spotter is assisting with my helmet & the ear pieces. They are for listening only, no talking back. I get strapped in & I'm extremely secure. There is no movement at all, other than my arms. The steering wheel is practically in my chest. I'm one with this car. I'm 2nd in line to go. The first car is given a helping hand to get going. When that car is actually on the course, then I'm given the clear to take off. I stumble with the gears initially, but I quickly find my bearings. Halfway into the lap, the spotter tells me stop, since someone had a fender bender ahead of me. Now, I'm sitting on the wall, waiting for what seemed like hours. I'm given the ok to start again & I'm off! There isn't a speedometer, but I know I'm getting up there in speed. Then I hear the spotter telling me to slow down. That's how the rest of my laps went. I pick up speed, then I'm told to slow down! What is the point of being in a race car if I can't open it up?! Why advertise the 150mph if you can't even come close?! So basically, you pay to get geared up & strapped in. It was still a nice experience, but it could be so much better! Especially for the people who paid for the insurance. I would have also liked to have raced some other people, but I also found out that you can't pass anyone unless the spotter tells you. That was disappointing. Doing this was fun as a one time thing, but I wouldn't do it again. We came to the conclusion, that the fast drivers were ride alongs. Also, if you don't listen to the spotter, you get kicked off the track. This actually happened. Suggestions: Bring food. The trailer only has snacks, water & Gatorade. Spectators should wear sun block. If possible, bring binoculars if you have bad eyesight or have a hand signal to spot your driver before they get into the car. Bring a light jacket, it's very windy.

I was only an observer to my husband's Rusty Wallace Racing Experience but I can say, he had a…read moregreat time! Check-in went smoothly at the outside trailer. Next was the 40 minute classroom session (I was allowed to sit in on it, even though I wasn't driving) where the basics of driving a race car were reviewed. How to shift, where on the track to brake or accelerate, how the dynamics of the car aided the driver in turning, etc. and how to get in and out of the 5-point restraints. After everyone's questions were answered, it was time to head to the track. My husband had signed up for a ride-along, so he suited up in the fire suit and helmet and first did five laps as a passenger with a professional driver. After that, he was put in his own car and, once everything was set, he drove his own ten laps. The drivers have headsets and there are spotters to guide them verbally while they're driving, hopefully preventing any foolish and costly errors by the novice drivers. I don't think more than five cars were ever on the track at one time so it wasn't too crowded. Stafford is a short track, only 1/2 mile long, so speeds never got up over 80 mph. Still, my husband was all smiles when he finished and felt that he had a great afternoon's adventure. The participants were mostly men, but there were a couple of women who drove, too. Things ran pretty much on time the day we were there; our reservation was for 1pm and we finished around 3:30pm. It was a good day with no problems on the track, but if something goes wrong, it can shut the whole thing down and the participants will be offered an opportunity to reschedule on another weekend. Another thing to be aware of is the liability issue; if you buy the $60 insurance coverage, your maximum liability is $1000 if you damage the car. Without insurance, you're liable for all the costs. We opted for the insurance; some people didn't. But accidents do happen out there so I'd go for it rather than take chances.

Got to use their car which was nice! Could have even used one of their helmets but I had my own. Felt safe the entire time! Left with a new found confidence in my driving skills. Most fun Ive ever had driving! We've come here for other events in the past and always enjoy ourselves. Very cool tracks and can hear cars for miles! Being ear protection!
