Dined last night with my husband for dinner. Our first time to visit. My husband ordered shrimp and grits. He said it was really good. I ordered the shrimp tacos with onions rings. The shrimp tacos were just OK. The onion rings were completely over cooked and hard as a rock. Was not impressed at all. We did order the spinach and artichoke dip which tasted good however, we were given crumbs for chips. It appeared to have just been heated in the microwave, unimpressed. We decided to get dessert and order the bread pudding. It was absolutely awful! I absolutely would not recommend any of the items we ordered. We heard it was a great place and we both were extremely disappointed to say the least!! read more

Love this place! The food is so delicious and the service is excellent. My favorite dish has to be the Shrimp and Grits! I like it so much that I often buy it "to go" on Saturdays so I can enjoy it on Sunday, when Rusty's is closed. My husband and I have very different tastes in food and he loves Rusty's, too! Rusty's did not disappoint. They delivered on my seafood craving. Crab and then more crab. The bread for my crab Po'Boy was soft ($9.99 lunch special). It wasn't dry like they sometimes can be. I had the onion rings as a side. Those were not special. The crab claw appetizer made up for it. I didn't mind the $14.99 price because they were peeled and easy to eat. They were small but smaller crabs tend to be sweeter. Oh yes, I took bread pudding home. Very good and the bourbon sauce was on point. The portion is good for 2 people. The atmosphere was laid back and friendly. Our waitress was attentive and gave off that southern hospitality. The location is at the end of the Main Street. Which makes it good for walking off the food afterwards. Hopefully I'll get to visit Vicksburg again. When I do, I'll be eating here. read more

I chose this restaurant because it was so close to the B&B I was staying in while visiting Vicksburg. I was not disappointed!! I was seated quickly and the staff was friendly. I had such a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The staff was great and the food was delicious. I had the blackened chicken dinner with a sweet potato and side salad...seems pretty simple, right?! I'm not sure how they kicked this simple meal up quite a few notches but they did it. With numerous 4+ star reviews, I thought this place would be different from other places I tried in Mississippi. First, the food was extremely salty, just like the many places my family and I tried in Jackson. I guess the locals like that? I had trouble eating the string beans, fried pickles, etc Next, the server was extremely slow. It seemed as if our server was only able to handle the adjacent table with a party of 8. My wife, who use to be a server, kept commenting that if they pick up the pace a bit, you wouldn't have such a long wait. I guess the locals are okay with that? The Surf & Turf. We asked for the ribeye to be medium rare, it arrives at our table, well done. We had it taken back, and it comes back to us, rare. At least, it wasn't too salty? Seafood Pasta. They used too much oil. And the noodles were overcooked. I would scoop the noodles and it would just break apart. The sauce is good. I guess the owner makes great sauces, but their cooks suck. The onion rings. They used old oil that should have been thrown out. The onion rings smelled. I mean with such a popular place, at least change your oil! Rustys House Specialty. This was good, if you can ignore the salt. This was the only item worth ordering. My daughter thought the Crab Claws at Rustlers in Meridian were better than here. read more

Pros: Food was very good, gumbo had excellent flavor, and prices were fair. Cons: More of a dinner than lunch menu, unless you want a larger lunch. Would love to see more balance. The food here is excellent. We came on our first night in town because of the Yelp reviews. The place was full with a 30 minute wait, but the experience was well worth the wait. She had the stuffed flounder, expecting a filet of flounder. She got the whole fish, well prepared with excellent flavor. He had the redfish house specialty. Excellent flavors and cooked perfectly. There were other items on the menu that caught our attention so we may be back for a second dinner before we leave town. read more

" The Tacos Were Awesome ! " We stopped by the Rusty's Riverfront Grill because someone told us the have some good Shrimp Tacos. Well being away from San Diego for 24 days which is the Mexican Food capital of the world we wanted to try some kind of Mexican type food. food was incedibly salty, to the point you really can't taste anything about the food itself. i was told the crab cakes were great by the bartender. what i got instead was a smashed pancake that presumably has crab in it, not sure, tasted more like a potato pancake to me. very disappointing meal for a place i was told is a local gem. maybe it was at some point, or they had an off night, but not good read more

Stopped in today during a visit to Vicksburg because we remembered this to be a favorite of ours when we lived here 7 years ago. We would bring our visiting family. But this time it was just ok. Our waitress was nice and friendly. The kids meals came on frisbees that they got to keep. So that was cool! We could play with them outside in the park during our visit. The desserts in their dessert counter looked delicious but we did not try them. The decor and style was nice. I liked the aerial pictures of Vicksburg on the walls. But the food made this visit just ok. Nothing bad, but nothing special as we had remembered. We got fried dill pickle chips, grilled chicken sandwich, soft shell crab po-boy, kids tenders, kids burger. Will we come back next time we visit? Maybe. Other places we liked too.. read more

I have always loved the food here until Friday 11/05/21. My coworker and I ordered meals for pickup. When I got back to the office, my food was not what I wanted or thought I was getting. I called back to the restaurant to let them know that I was not happy with my food. I was not giving an apology but i was given smart mouth that was how the meat is prepared and there was nothing they could do about it. My coworker also called and asked to speak to the owner or the manager. She was told we needed to bring the plates back to get the food replaced. We both had thrown the in the garbage. Our overnight in Vicksburg included a great dinner at Rusty's which was not only well reviewed by fellow Yelpers but also within walking distance of our hotel. It was very busy when we arrived at 8.45 though we were seated within 10 minutes by a very friendly server. The menu choice is really wide and it was hard to decide. We shared an appetizer of fried green tomatoes (house special) which were delicious, covered in rich creamy sauce with crab. I would travel back to Vicksburg just to eat those tomatoes. We then had the blackened redfish and grilled flounder and shared sides of salad, fries, green beans and baked sweet potato. Needless to say we didn't have room for dessert! The food was good quality and well cooked - the cook had been a little heavy handed with the salt on my flounder and green beans which was a shame, it would have been 5 stars otherwise. Great food! Great atmosphere! Great and friendly staff. This is the place to go in Vicksburg! Locals recommended it to my fiancée and I while we were out antiquing and we were not disappointed! Great food. The hours are little different. Open for lunch and closed till dinner time thereafter. Get there close to opening though. We waiting outside the doors till opening and the outside filled up in 90+ degree heat and by 620-630p the place was filled. Well worth the wait! The soft shell crab and Mississippi Mud Pie were stellar! My fiancée loved her burger as well! If you're in Vicksburg stop in here! read more

I went there with a colleague on a week night. We had about a 15 minute wait, which was ok. No doubt the wait is much longer on weekends. My food was very good, a little heavy on the salt but nevertheless probably the best fried pickles I have ever had (not greasy), a really very tasty blackened redfish, and the greens beans were cooked just right. I give the food four stars, which in my book is high for what is not a five star restaurant. The overall rating comes down from the service, which was perfunctory at best. I don't ask for much: refill my tea, smile once or twice, don't disappear for a long time. I didn't get that, however. Summary: very good food, weak service, and this a middling overall experience. read more

When menus are this long, I suspect everything will be underwhelming. But I took big risk, tired of UFOs (unidentified fried objects), I went w the seared wasabi tuna. For a restaurant without white table cloths, this was awesome, even the sl sweet pepper glaze it sat upon! Really amazing, efficient service. The drinks were good as well. My family and I were passing through Vicksburg for a night on the way to Jackson and decided to go here for dinner, as it was recommended by several websites as the best in Vicksburg. The line was long and all seats were taken, but granted it was during the dinner hour on a Friday night. We waited about 30-45 minutes for a four-person table, and I assume the larger parties there waited longer. Our server was super sweet and attentive. My brother and I ended up splitting a steak (we aren't seafood people), and it was very sizable and well-cooked. Entrees are large and expensive, so 9/10 times I would recommend splitting with someone. I don't know if it quite lived up to the hype (maybe it might have, if I liked seafood or was old enough to drink), but it wasn't a bad place to eat by any means. read more

Oh, oh my. We were driving back from Panama City Beach where we ate seafood all week. We stopped in Vicksburg for lunch. Rusty's is AMAZING!!! Bacon wrapped scallops fresher than from the gulf, best gator bites I've had since NOLA, and the fried green tomatoes were killer (and being from TN, I'm picky). Then the shrimp and grits showed up. Visually they were not what I expected. Then I tried it. Just... wow. Just wow. If I'm being nit picky I would've preferred the tails removed from the shrimp but again that's being nit picky to the point of being jerky. I cannot recommend this place highly enough!!! I will make a five hour trip from home just to come here again. read more

Great food and great service. Got the filet mignon on a Wednesday night around 7:30 and it wasn't busy. Food was amazing. The steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The shrimp was nicely seasoned and didn't have a fishy taste at all. The streak price wasn't on the menu but at the time it ended up being $36 for an 8oz and two sides. The shrimp was $10 for about 8 shrimp. Got a Mississippi mud brownie for $6 and it was decent. Our server was the sweetest and was very attentive, but not in an annoying or over the top way. So we went in with a party of 7 and waited more than an hour to be seated. But what bothered me is that parties with 6 adults and children/babies, making the seats around the actual table 7 or 8 places, that came in after us were seated before us. In our faces! It's like the staff had no regards for us existing until we complained about it. The only reason we waited it out is because it was the only recommendation for us as tourist to Vicksburg. They should invest in software to notify parties of their table being ready than leaving it up to the discretion of two women at the host podium. They had no order to what they were doing, they couldn't even show us the list to show the place we were in line. Other than that, the food was good. We had the red fish and cheese grits, crab claws and bread pudding. And the server Mary Catherine is a doll, a pure sweetheart. read more

The cooks put the meals on the counter when ready. The counter was absolutely full, but no server picked it up. I just watched the food sit there, and sit there, and sit there. It must have been 10 minutes before finally a woman came out to start getting it. This was not isolated. I watched how long it would take our meals to be picked up, a different server. It sat there over 5 minutes. At times, the servers just disappeared. If I were the manager, they'd be fired on the spot. Fix the service and it would be a good place. read more
