The market mainly caters for local residents and the office population in the immediate Victoria Street area, selling food, groceries, books and clothing, but is becoming increasingly popular with tourists. My wife and I visited the Strutton Ground Market while we were on a trip to London in April 2019. We had just visited Westminster Abbey down the street, and my wife told me about a great street market that we could stop at for lunch. She had studied abroad in London and knew her way around the city pretty well. There were so many delicious-sounding food vendors that we had trouble picking. I decided to order from a Middle Eastern food vender called Falafel Zaki Zaki. I ordered "The Whole Shebang Wrap" which was stuffed with falafel, eggplant (aubergine), salad, hot peppers, pickled vegetables and white sauce. Just as I was about to take a picture of the delicious wrap, the vendor posed for the shot and had me cracking up. That wrap was so good!! My wife found a cool Indian street food vendor and ordered some Samosas and a side of Chicken with Rice. We ended up sharing all of our food and were very happy with our choices. We'll definitely stop again on our next trip to London.

More comfort foods include burgers with fried eggs, burritos, falafel, and other delicacies from all over the world. Every vendor is very kind and willing to take the time to tell you the story behind the food. Conveniently located on Rupert street, which is a stone's throw from the Berwick Street market (where you can pick up produce, organic milk, etc), it's a great one-stop trip during your lunch break or midday adventure. Prices are incredibly reasonable for every dish, portions are huge, and they have tables and benches set up to festively eat right there on the street. These folks work really hard, they set up and break down their tents and cooking stalls every day they're in operation, and never leave a mess in the street. A must-try if you're central in Soho.

I wasn't super optimistic about the quality of the poutine in London, but I had no reason to be skeptical, as The Poutinerie delivered. Maybe it's just because everything is better served out of a food stall, but the dish was great. I got the regular, and the curds-to-gravy ratio was good, and the fries were fresh. No complaints here! Service was quick and friendly as well. It was a little more expensive than I was expecting, but well worth it considering just how badly I was craving poutine at the time.

GO VISIT THIS PLACE! A small food van parked on the side of the road selling top class, home-cooked mexican food. Slow cooked lamb, pulled pork, chorizo chilli, burrito, quesadilla the list goes on. How he does it in such a small place to then add on nightly specials, deserts etc, etc. What a find! And onto he who owns it! A passionate Mexican man who could not be more friendly and engaging. Engrossed in his skill as a chef, brings you into his world with tasters of the culinary tit-bits created that day. Please try, I urge you. Come from far afield - you will not be disappointed. BUT come early - the place is small. It's not unheard of him selling out within 90 mins of opening!

Small, thin fish was piled up in an open cardboard box - not sanitary at all and I hope they refrigerate them during summer - and as the demand was high, the cooking standard faltered. He just kept adding cold olive oil whilst cooking, so the fish got soggy and very greasy. Fish turned out to be a cheap dab and wasn't properly seasoned, and the bun was hard & cold. So we ended up with a very greasy, bland fish stuck in an very ordinary cold bun; luckily we only ordered one. There were several bottles of condiments, but if they had cooked the fish properly, no one should be using them except lemon juice. Who needs ketchup on nice fish??? To match their reputation, they really need to up their game and take time to cook the well-seasoned fish properly. There are lots of decent fish & chip shops nearby, and you get much better deal there.

Better than good, scrumptious, delectable, super hit the spot yummy these rolls are. The stall is a canoe, cut in half, with the owner frying up filets of plaice in olive oil. After they are cooked to tender perfection, he puts a long skinny filet and a larger flatter one on the bun of your choice, dark(whole wheat or whole grain?) or white. The plaice, freshly fished from Hastings fishermen, melts in your mouth. I wasn't too fond of the hard bun, but after gobbling up the roll, decided a much more tender bun would just fight with the creamy softness of the plaice. Pat and Tush supply all sorts of sauces at a table at one end of their stand should you desire ketchup etc with your roll. I found the sweet fresh taste of the fish just right and it required only the slightest bit of ketchup. Hasting fresh seafood at its finest for only 2.5 lbs. There is always a line by this stand and it's easy to understand why. The owners told me they were in business for 13 years. I hope this Hastings institution keeps going. My tip...get a couple of sandwiches, take the East Lift close by and go up and have a picnic on the hill overlooking the sea!

It's about all they're serving, but trust me, it's enough. The duck confit burgers come with your choice of 3 different cheeses, bleu cheese, raclette, or goat's cheese. Personally, I'm not the biggest cheese fan, and always go for the raclette, as it's milder. What makes the burgers even better is the truffle mayo- and if you're lucky, truffle honey- that they're putting on them, which makes the flavors pop all the more. The chips also come with a huge dollop of truffle mayo on top. One setback I would say to the whole operation is the usual lack of seating wherever these guys are to be found. If you don't have friends with you, that means you need to either only order one thing to hold it with one hand and eat with the other, or make a friend fast, to help share the load. Still, it is one of THE best burgers- duck, or otherwise- I've ever had, so I'm not complaining... too much. At £8 a pop- or £10 including the chips- it may not be the cheapest- nor the healthiest- thing you can find on the streets, but it's definitely worth every pence.

In order of my preference: goat cheese with honey, blue cheese with honey, cheddar. The bun is griddled with duck fat and the sandwich is built with mustard, onion jam and rocket. It's divine.
