It was a pleasure working with All Squared Up. While they're a newly formed company, the…read morepartnership has decades of experience and plenty of references upon request. I'm delighted to be the first one to offer a review on this site. Our needs were simple. We wanted to have a maintenance free composite deck to replace our outdated wooden deck. Practically all the deck builders that we got quotes from were over $25K - $35K. These were WAY outside our budget. All Squared Up explained it like this. So many businesses after Covid, were charging more due to supply. Sadly for consumers many businesses never reduced their prices when supply disruptions were no longer an issue. There is also so much competition with composite material, prices are not high. Before you select a deck builder, based on the number of reviews on Yelp/Google, request a quote from All Squared Up. We highly recommend! Honest communication, commitment, with an equal dose of skilled perfection and honest pricing is what you can be assured to receive. p.s. After completing the deck, they re-did our side porch, making it composite too and reducing the step size. allowing the steps to be more shallow.

From the owner: Most companies say they are about quality but upon inspection of work they look more and more like…read moreproduction work. In this field the more you do in a day or week or a month the bigger the profit, so knock them out as fast as you can gain the profit and worry about cut corners when they arise. Instead of do it right the first time and make sure the homeowner is 100 percent happy the first go around and hope if at all call backs are minimal. Most big companies already have the name so now it's the money that keeps them going and the workers still receive the same pay no matter how poor their quality of work and the owners have enough revenue and resources to brush off small inconveniences. The small guys like me however without the big name or big company have to take pride in what we do because we know the quality provides the name and the revenue will follow in due time. A good name and quality go a good distance but a bad name and poor work travel much further. When you take pride in what you do and love every aspect of the project it's a passion not just a job. It's a living you love and not just an income.

Johnathan and his Team's charm and professionalism was just beyond. They were there before we woke up and stayed several times after 5pm. We needed our basement refinished after some water damage and demo a French Drian was installed. They installed new stairs, framing, electrical and dry wall. Not to mention jacking up our house to replace the main joist! We're amazed at how he was able to maximize the space for the area we wanted. We were able to comfortably work out little changes along the way. Johnathan said to me at one point " I want it to look like it would in my own home!" I really could go on and on. Just know this is not AI this is a real honest review!! We absolutely will be contacting Fowlers Home Improvement for all our projects in the future and so should you!

Fowlers did give us a prompt refund regarding the issues mentioned after we emailed them…read more Because they did not fix the work when we originally brought it up on site and due to another incident on site, we did not feel comfortable asking them to come back and fix the work they did poorly the first time. After multiple discoveries racking up in cost, we finally decided to email them. They were prompt with a response and a refund. We only asked for a refund for the work we found problems with, which was roughly 1/3 of the cost we paid for all of the work that they did.

DLH Home Improvements - He left toilets and debris from the demolition in the back yard. I paid for a dump fee for this but he found a reason to leave this.

*****STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!!!*****…read more There is no way to give negative or no stars but if I could I would. Long story short, this contractor bust suspense and went over budget - two things that are super important for contractors. On top of that Mr. Dale Hurt (owner) damaged the property and did not take accountability for his actions. When I addressed my concerns he became very disrespectful and threatening to both myself and elderly mother. Because Mr. Hurt breached contract and damaged my mothers property I did not pay him the remainder of the contract until he agreed to work with me to fix what he'd broken. He was content with leaving my mother without lights and power in bedrooms and sued me for the remainder of the contract. I countersued for the damages and breach of contract. The judge took one look at the pictures included here (Mr. Dales attempts at staining hardwoods) and ruled in my favor. This post is not to bad talk a contractor because there is plenty more I could say, it is to warn the next person who might not have the money to go to court to fight for what's right. It is to prevent the next older person from being taken advantage of. And hopefully, will help Mr. Dale do better work and stay professional. At least to die unto others the way he would want someone to do towards him. Operate ethically, and have some integrity. Further, due to my interaction with this person, I'm sure he'll post a retort, when he does know that I'll not go back and forth with him here, but if you want more specific details please contact me here and I'll give you more details if it will help you make a decision.

Dale explained his estimate well, very proud of the quality of his work and gave us a solid quote.read more

Johnstons Deck and Fence - The gate is closed, but the latch doesn't lock. The gate cannot be opened from the inside of the fence.

    Johnstons Deck and Fence

I hired Johnston's Deck & Fence to replace an existing fence that rotted at the post and fell over…read more The lines on newly installed fence looked great, but they re-used old posts when we had discussed replacing anything that was wood. This is concerning as the posts in other sections of the fence had already broken. Additionally, they installed a fence latch that could only be opened from the outside of the fence; meaning you can not get out if you are inside of the fence. Also, the latch was installed in a way that the fence board has to separate from the actual fence for the gate to close appropriately. I asked the owner in March of 2022 if this could be fixed, as there was a worksmanship/warrantee agreement in the contract. The owner had committed to fixing it multiple times, but 10 months later and numerous follow-ups later it has still not been fixed. We had used this company on a previous deck project which turned out fine, but for whatever reason the owner does not want to address the gate latch issue and has not responded to any inquiries lately (or has blocked my number). Keep this in mind if you use this company, make sure everything is perfect prior to paying in full. If the owner wants to reach out to me to correct the gate latch issue which is covered under contract, I will consider revising this review.

Although he upcharged us for premium wood he used cheap wood on the deck. It has no supports and is not up to code, it is bowing in the middle on each side under its own weight and boards have been steadily popping off since the work was done. I had to pursue him for weeks and weeks past the 6 week mark to seal the deck as per our contract. He promised to show several times and didn't. When he finally did he did a piss poor job and barely sealed anything and sprayed (i believe spitefully) sealent all over the back siding of our home. The deck is not even 2 years old yet and it looks like terrible quality materials and workmanship. He installed a gate in the fence that broke and didn't concrete down deep enough the supporting posts. Look elsewhere as this business lacks the skills and knowledge and are not above lies and cutting corners on your project.
