Had a BLAST. The instructor, Bakari had such a great sense of humor! He kept us focused and I was engaged. I chose this during Yelp fit club because it fell on my birthday weekend. What better way to celebrate than to stay healthy (or to try at least?). The exercises were challenging, but he emphasized to do what worked best for us and our bodies. I took a free Yelp class to try my first cross fit class. This was awesome!! We had a good size group and he worked us out... he said it was a lighter version but let me tell you.. my legs have been sore for 6 days lol!!! Our instructer was awesome, great personality, kept the class fun and interesting. Most of us were beginners but he told us to do what we can, dont try to out do the person next to you. We did so much.. butpees, threw a heavy ball up the wall while doing squats, sit ups, pull ups, pull ups on rings, lunges and more. I loved the flow of the glass although there were moments I had to break, I still kept up! This crissfit gym is hidden but is a great place to work out! read more

So my best friend decided to wanted to do a boot camp intro class for her birthday and like fools, our other friend and I agreed to join her. I'll be honest, the workout was fun, but I feel like death! That was the longest 12 minute circuit of my life, but I'm glad I did it. Our instructor Bakari was fun and encouraging, and so was everyone else who participated. I'm not sure I would do it again because I am pretty out of shape and I JUST made it through. But, if you are even just a little motivated, I definitely feel like it's worth a shot. read more

I started going to this gym thanks to a friend! The environment is warm and welcoming I joined the gym and drive 20 minutes everyday to participate in a group fitness class. I went here yesterday for the Yelp Fit Club! I have to say I thought it was going to be a Crossfit workout BUT it was still great! Bakari did an awesome job keeping a huge group engaged and accountable. We had a stretch warmup that lasted 20 minutes, then we had a 12 minute circuit- 1 minute on 20 seconds off. Lastly, we finished with a minute of burpees! It was a wonderful workout for beginners! He made sure to incorporate moves that worked out the full body. This is a perfect gym for beginners and more advanced folks. I'll definitely be dropping in for a WOD one of these days! Thank you! read more

I have been consistently impressed with these guys over the past 2 years. They have helped me recoup from shoulder ROM limitations that stem from an old injury years ago. Rather than shy away from my incessant questions, the instructors are always super informative with advice and scaling when needed. The move to pair everyone with specific instructor so they can have individualized coaching while working on long and short term goals was an attention to detail that I didn't expect. When I work out on my own I get bored every every 2 months, suffer through the 3rd and then try something new. Crossfit RVA is the cure. Camaraderie, support, personal challenge, competition and lots of fun BS-ing is the name of the game. Working so hard has never been so easy. All I have to do is show up and the current sweeps me through a painful, sweaty, exhausting and very fun workout, with friends, every day. I have never pushed myself to the limits (physically and nutritionally) that Crossfit RVA does anywhere else. There are team diet challenges that have got me down to 11% body fat (= RIPPED)! read more

Everyone here really is great. I came from a gym that was very much a family and thats rare, so I really wasn't expecting anything like that after moving here. I was wrong and couldn't be happier about it. I started off with Bryan Munoz, who is thoughtful, patient, personable and supportive. I warned him that I'm not very coordinated and kind of a slow learner and it didn't slow him down at all, he worked with me patiently and never got frustrated. Almost everyone says hi or offers encouragement (all the employees, some of the other gym-goers), which is huge. It can be hard to stay motivated but everyone here is so friendly and supportive that it makes it ten times easier. I love it here! This gym is bigger than the others I have visited. Also, the instructors here compared to most gyms actually pay attention and care about meeting your goals. The bonus to me is that they are very well educated and they go over and beyond to satisfy my needs. It is by far the best gym I have worked out in. I have so much fun and I get into shape. I've become friends with many and we all live a healthy and positive life! I encourage everyone who reads my review to go check them out. My personal story is that I was once 273lbs. And struggled with losing weight and getting in shape for about ten years. I tried every gym from ATL to RVA. While attempting a neutral diet every three months or so. Everything was a failure until I walking in CFRVA. I felt like a big fat loser and I wanted a change so badly. I was so happy I found this gym. I never felt alone. We all had some kind of goal and we grouped together to make that happen. From friends, new comers, trainers to owners we all supported each other. My favorites are partner wods. Saturday's Burpees and Brunch. Social gatherings outside the gym and the performance nutritional challenge. They have so many events to go to from SuperFit to weightlifting meets. After one year with this gym TODAY I WEIGH 211lbs. And I thank every team member at CrossFit RVA for not giving up on me and teach me not to give up on myself. read more
