They empathized and really cared about what we wanted for our home in the rebuilding process. If you enjoy total aggravation, hire RVA. We were told it would take 3 to 4 months before our house would be done. No, it took 11 months because we had to fire RVA Restoration due to their incompetent sub contractors and an argumentative superintendent. If you choose them, be prepared to oversee everything they do or you will be sorry. They don't even deserve ONE star! We made the unfortunate decision to choose this company for restoration work. They are highly unprofessional and incompetent. Do not make the mistake of thinking they will finish your project skillfully or on time. You are better off finding qualified tradesmen specializing in specific areas, who care and take pride in the work they do. This company is nothing more than an embarrassment to the industry. Great Company! Very knowledgeable. I have not had the chance of using this company for my own home, but as a local insurance agent, I have worked with them plenty, and now refer them every chance I get. The owner knows the insurance industry inside and out, so when it comes to knowing exactly what is covered in your homeowners policy, he knows his stuff. It makes my job a lot easier working along with them and it helps the customer tremendously. No more "call your agent and see...." I cannot tell you how many times a customer has called me panicking due to a fire/water loss, and RVA Restoration has arrived to their home right away to start the process as well as help a customer calm down from the shock of their home damage. While a homeowners claim is rarely fun, and rarely as fast as the customer would like....(new kitchen now!) every one of my customers has loved the final outcome. Our 25 year old house needed a bathroom upgrade on a tight budget. The craftsman at RVA Restoration came in with awesome, in-budget selections to transform our master bath into a more useful and appealing space. Mike designed a floating vanity cabinet and found and installed a reclaimed vanity cabinet base. Richard swapped out an original, drafty crank window with a more useful slider, installed the new lights, mirrors and faucets. The end result was a 3-week project that came in under budget and looks better than our expectations. Highly recommend! read more

We used RVA to finish our 3rd floor into 2 rooms which required adding a new HVAC unit, the estimator brought out multiple HVAC vendors to get us the best price. We had gotten 3 other quotes for this project and the great thing about RVA's primary business being insurance is the quote was by far the most transparent of them all. What I love about this company is they employ almost all of their own staff--framing, drywall, paint--so we got to know and trust who was coming in and out of our house every day. They are extremely professional and kept a very clean workspace. What surprised me was that we had a vaulted dormer with a large arched window in the front, it was really awkwardly framed and we weren't sure how to handle it but the RVA team did an amazing job of not only making it work, but the carpenter put some extra touches on it that made it a one-of-a-kind statement piece of the space! read more

We had them come out to give us an estimate on a bathroom remodel and 17 days later I am still waiting for said estimate. We had just moved into our dream home 3 months prior, and I had finally checked off one of the last items on the "to-do-list." I smoked a cigar around 5:30pm to celebrate and dropped it into the mulch beside the back deck around 6:15pm. We woke up at 3am to a violent fire on the back deck that was quickly spreading over and up the siding. It was too fierce for me to attempt to extinguish. My 6 month pregnant wife and I ran back upstairs to get our 1 year old daughter as I called 911 running out of the house and we all watched our house burn from the street as I ended the call. We were lucky enough to have an outstanding insurance company in Travelers Insurance. I was completely blown away by how amazing RVA Restoration was throughout the whole ordeal. THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY met us at our house the same morning that the fire happened. Temporary Housing RVA put us in a great home in our very familiar Woodlake neighborhood, from where we had just moved. I first met the head of the mitigation department. He was as nice as could be, professional, assertive, productive and thorough. He was empathetic that we lost everything we had, but was determined to clean it up and get it out of the way. He wanted us to get past this and be able to move on. I then worked with Mike Ford. I really can't put into words what he did for us. He let us be sad when we needed to be sad, made us laugh, offered sound advice, made us laugh some more and helped us every step of the way while we all worked as a team to completely redesign every aspect of our 3800sf house. The fire damage and water damage from extinguishing the fire damaged the entire house. Everything had to be removed all the way down to subfloor and studs in each and every room. All exterior components were damaged and removed. The only thing that remained was the brick front of the house. It was a lot to take on, but there was never one single moment we felt uncomfortable, insecure or nervous that he wasn't going to absolutely fucking rock this. His design concepts and implementation while using the existing floor plan are out of this world. Mike was a mastermind at cutting costs where available to allow us to upgrade in other areas of the house. Typically when you work with a builder on a new home you are given maybe 5 options to choose from to build your house. We literally had to decide on every single thing that consists of building a house, other than the remaining front brick facade. Think about that-roofing, siding, flooring, kitchen cabinets, countertops, paint colors for every room, light fixtures, toilets....EVERYTHING. It's been more than a year since they finished my house before I left this review. So many reviews come before EVERYONE wipes their hands cause it's done. This home is exceptionally done and top notch. Like most contractors we had to work together to bring every single thing to a complete close. They were great throughout the entire process. The final product is nothing short of extraordinary. I couldn't possibly be more pleased that we decided to choose RVA Restoration to help us. They gave us our home to live in again. They gave us our life back. We were in love with our house before that awful night. RVA Restoration recreated our dream house and somehow made it even better than what we had. We are now head over heels in love with this house. They helped us turn the worst thing that could possibly happen to our family into the best thing that could have possibly happened to our family. read more

We had a significant roof damage during a summer storm. RVA restoration removed the tree and debris quickly and also had a tarp over the entire roof for us before any further damage could occur. They truthfully care about their quality of work but more importantly, the people they are helping. I would highly recommend them for any home repairs or restoration. read more

After a weather event that affected many in the Richmond, VA area, I had to take the first water removal company that could get to my home. Unfortunately, although friendly enough, my experience with RVA Restoration was something a homeowner should never have to endure. It started when the water removal crew spilled a can of paint, and used my own personal (brand new) shop vacuum to "clean" it up. Paint spills remain on the closet doors, racing wheels for my bicycles, golf clubs and other sporting equipment, as well as the floor of the closet where it spilled, a runner rug that was "cleaned" and returned to me - paint stains and all! But, sadly, that is only the beginning. The real issue is when it came time to remove damaged materials. The materials had been exposed to copious amounts of water for a prolonged period of time. One area of the ceiling had only a ceiling fan fixture from which water was able to drain. RVA Restoration incorrectly determined this part of the ceiling could be saved. The materials sustained too much irreparable damage to be fixed, so the damage is showing through and I now have a lumpy ceiling that the contractor was unable to repair (Contractor successfully repaired other areas that were actually salvageable.). Damage runs along floor joists, areas that the contractor did not actually touch during repairs, other than repaint entire ceiling. So do yourself a favor and find someone else who repairs the home AS IF IT IS THEIR OWN. I can guarantee no one at RVA Restoration would find the ceiling materials acceptable in their own homes. Additionally, there is always the concern for mold spores, as mold was found on the stairwell landings. I now have to pay for their error in judgment. read more
