I needed a bit more info so he directed me to the manager Kelly, she spent a lot of time with me and I did get exactly what I needed. Not only did I find the jacket but on Sale - I have to say the Bonus of all of this was the knowledge Kelly shared with me. I learned a lot about coats and feel more informed. I like the swimwear there. They have lots of mix and match pieces. Their styles are cute and range from modest to revealing, so something for everyone, lol. The sizes range from XS-XXL and are designed in a way that they are very adjustable. The issue I have is with their lingerie. Their panties skew big. Like a small fits a size 6-8. And they don't have XS. So if you're smaller than a size 6, you can't buy undies here! As for their bras, they claim they carry all sizes, but they assume that if you are slim, you are also small-busted. I have never seen anything smaller than a 34 band with anything larger than a B cup. So yeah, I've never bought panties or bras here. I've only ever bought swimwear. This location is in College Square. It's a good size. There's lots of free parking.

About a month ago, I went with my husband to Morris Formalwear to get him a tuxedo for an upcoming…read moregala. When my husband was still serving in the military he'd always wear his mess kit (since all our formal functions were related to the military), but now that he's retired from the military, he wanted to get a tuxedo for these functions. We were 3 weeks out from the gala when he decided it was time to buy one. A bit last minute, if you ask me, lol. Fortunately, his height and build allows him to buy most items off-the-rack and thus even for formal wear he requires minimal if any alterations. The store was much busier on a Saturday afternoon in May than I expected (although I guess it was prom, graduation and wedding season). We milled around a bit before someone was available to help us. We told the salesman we were looking for a black classic tuxedo. My husband told him his size and he grabbed a jacket for my husband to try on. My husband said "great" and that must have been the quickest $500 sale ever. The jacket required no alterations. The salesman measured my husband's waist and gave him a pair of pants and brought him down to the seamstress in the basement. She pinned the hem, marked the waist to take in a smidge, and we were good to go. They said it would be done in a week. My husband called them the day before we were supposed to pick up to confirm it was done, as we didn't want to make the trip out there for nothing, but there was no answer, so he left a voicemail. They never returned his voicemail. So the morning of, he called again and the salesman said he thinks it's done, but they are really swamped. Uh, ok. So we went. The saleslady helped us this time and after looking around for it for a bit, she found it. It was done and fit perfectly. I must say, my impression was that the saleslady was about customer service. She was friendly and wanted to ensure we were satisfied. My impression was that the salesman was just concerned with making a sale. That's just how I personally felt after our interactions. Also I felt $500 for a tux, not even designer or anything, was expensive, but I guess everything is expensive these days. I think you can get them for less at chains like Moores, but we do like supporting small independent businesses. But whatever, my husband is happy and looks handsome in his tux, so I'm happy ;) Street parking only.

So Flock Boutique is this cute little shop in my 'hood that sells cool indie Canadian brands and…read morealso Canadian brands that have made it big(ger). They have clothes by Jennifer Glasgow and Miik. They have soaps and body care by Purple Urchin. They also have jewelery by local designers and weird knick knacks like hand puppets of Canadian prime ministers, lol. So funky and weird! This store is more neat, clean and upscale-ish, a la "Yorkville" (Toronto reference) and not like Adorit in the Byward Market (that also carries local and Canadian designs, and some of the same brands, like Miik) which is more, a la "Kensington Market" (sorry, another Toronto reference), but meaning more bohemian and smelling of patchouli. Prices are high, but your getting good quality and supporting the Canadian market.

The great thing about Flock Boutique is that the clothes are made by Canadian designers, the majority of which are women! I really had to control myself, or I would have had an empty wallet when I came out. I did see several dress options, but was tight on time, so I couldn't try anything on. One of the girls working in the store patiently showed me several dresses and answered all my questions about the designers and the store. The people who work here clearly know what they are talking about. It is also great that so many of the designs are by Canadian women! For someone who wants to dress artistically, this is the perfect spot to shop.
