I took two brand new frames in to have new prescription lenses installed. The first frame, that I…read moreuse for my music work, the lenses were installed without any problems. The second pair, which is what I'm basing this review on, became the frames and lenses from hell! The lab Bella Vista Family Eye Care (BVFEC) uses, is Harbor Optical in Traverse City Michigan. In fitting my frames with lenses, the lab broke my brand new frames. They tried to replace the frames, but each of three times they attempted to make it right, the temples (bows) were too short. The first time they tried to sell me a 150mm set of temples, the second were 155mm and with a frame that was 2X too large. I even supplied a copy of my original invoice so that the lab could contact my source of supply directly to reorder the exact frames and temples that comprised my original order, which they didn't do. Finally the third attempt was the correct 165mm temples, but still the wrong frame. I kept pointing out that the frame was the wrong size. I even showed Sue, the receptionist twice, the discrepancy with the use of frame dimension specifications and dial calipers. She finally insisted on the third attempt that the bridge dimension of 20mm was the correct frame number and was what I had ordered! Her incompetence along with that of Harbor Optical was in no way going to get me the correct frame and lenses. So seeing that I was not going to get the correct frames, I cut my losses and walked away with new frames that had the correct length temples, but the actual frame was 2X too large for my face! In fairness to BVFEC, they didn't charge me the 50% balance that I owed on my bill, but took my $75 down payment as full payment. Over the course of the 6 weeks plus it took to arrive at the final frame lens combination, not one time did Dr. Jackson personally get involved with the problem. In fact, the last time I met with Sue, and showed her the frames were still the wrong frames. All the while Dr. Jackson was showing a young prospective customer the expensive frames that HE offers on his wall display, and completely ignored me and my problem! He always seemed unavailable when I came in on all my previous occasions. I always dealt with Sue whose attention to detail in getting the order right, seemed to diminish over each visit. The proper solution to this problem would have been for Dr. Jackson to admit that his business was not competent enough to fill my order and to refund me in full, the original cost of my frames ($106) plus my original down payment of $75 and suggested that I reorder my frames myself, and to find a more competent lens provider. My suggestion to you the consumer, I would be very hesitant to believe that what you start with in the way of frames and lenses is going to be what you finish with when dealing with BVFEC. There are way too many optical firms opening up in the area to choose from that are looking for your business to have to put up with such incompetent service as I did in just trying to get a set of lenses for a frame that I had purchased elsewhere!
