After another doctor recommended I see a spine intervention specialist, I found this practice online and gave them a call. I reached an answering machine and left a message asking how long it usually takes to schedule. I never heard back. More than a week later, I finally did get a call, but not because of my message. No, the only reason they called was because my other doctor had forwarded a referral. The one positive? Unlike most Richmond-area doctors, the wait time between scheduling and the actual appointment isn't three months long. That's something. I'll update this review after my visit. But for now, if you value a smooth front-end experience, this probably isn't the place.

Incredibly difficult to contact (text only, and no response most of the time), they have been sent…read moremultiple referrals over the last couple years and stated they have not recieved them (from 3 different providers), and although being listed on the Anthem Healthkeeper's Plus "find care" portal they refuse Anthem patients (which is against the agreement with Anthem). Being the only pain management I can see in the area, and breaching contract to refuse Medicaid patients is horribly disappointing and unacceptable. I am severely disabled and in cronic pain due to lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and more... and for YEARS they have been yanking me around until they finally just flat out illegally refused me service. This means there is no pain managment care in the area I can go to, when am literally crippled BY extreme pain. This is not only unethical, but inhumane and cruel.

The huge private parking lot assures finding a space for your vehicle will never be an issue. Staff is friendly and efficient, they make you feel comfortable and appreciated. My wife has serious issues with her spine and was barely able to walk for more than a couple minutes at a time before we met Dr. Richard Guinand who was referred by my wife's primary care physician. By the time we met Dr. Guinand we were pretty much resolved that surgery would be necessary but the doctor was very reassuring and took his time explaining exactly what was going on with my wife's physical infirmities. He was very friendly and engaging, even a little humorous. He said he felt that a course of physical therapy may be enough to deal with the issues. He stressed the importance of completing the program and then recommended a few facilities for us to choose which one was the most convenient for us. We selected Bon Secours In Motion At Chilled Ponds which is only a few miles from our home, Dr. Guinand set it up and it turned out to be a wonderful choice. After a couple of months of therapy my wife's condition had improved so significantly that she no longer required a scooter when doing grocery shopping and was once again able to do yard work and pretty much anything else she wanted. I was very impressed with Dr. Guinand's experience and expertise. He was able to quickly diagnose my wife's issues and knew the best way to treat her.

Getting a shot in the back is scary and he makes it like a day in the park. The staff is friendly and accommodating and helpful. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Guinand and the people he has in the room with us. I had several choices when the final diagnosis was made. I had heard good things about The Spine Center and chose them. I had a PT I was happy with and he allowed me to continue there. I was happy I did not have to make the drive several times a week. He must understand the pain and torment the neuropathy causes someone, as he is right there when you need him. He has never told me no and he has explained what he is doing every time. He makes me a happy woman.

On 4/8/25 I went for my scheduled injections. After waiting for an hour or more, they informed me they did not have my MRI, and further, wasn't sure when they would have it for sure. So, after me and my wife taking time off from work, I went back home. They never called me and I never called them again, but yes, I got two bills. The first for the consult of $499 and a second for the visit to do the injections, which did not occur because of them, in the amount of $200. After months of hounding them, they finally took the $200 bill off my account but demand the $499. What BS.

I was told to BRING paperwork for my situation all the 4 times I spoke to someone I explained to them I needed the 10:15a appointment due to prior appointment this morning as well and now told I would have needed to be there at 9:30a, they could have told me that as well... if I had known to look for an email from them which by the way I did ..I would have known what to look for and by whom... but to have me resch for another two weeks I am just not happy with ... those questions were not even relevant to the appointment I'm needing so really didn't make any sense to reschedule me over that... Please be clear when scheduling patients and not give the excuse that staff is in training ... that's not my fault but I had to be rescheduled due to their lack of training
