I recently proposed to my fiancé after 4 years of dating. After a couple months of being engaged, we decided we that we wanted some engagement photos. After searching around for different photographers, we researched Ryan and loved his work. He has so many different types of photos that we loved. So we contacted him about doing our engagement photos. He was very polite and courteous to me on the phone, and said he would love to take part in our engagement photos. We shot photos at three different locations. The beach, the countryside, and the woods. I have to say that they turned out amazing, and we were very pleased with the outcome. Had my wedding 4 years ago. Leading up to event and day of was good. A few (maybe 10) edited pictures were texted and that's where it ends. Constantly promising dates to get pictures sent out and these dates come and go. Would not recommend and would give 0 stars. read more

Zero stars. I was married in July of 2019. Paid for his services and an addiitonal photographer. As I was stepping into my wedding dress, I was informed that he was no longer coming. He sent 2 women who were not photographers in his place. They asked me (the bride) "where else would you like pictures? " They needed direction and could not execute large photos. Typical wedding moments were never captured....I do not have a photo of my dad walking me down the aisle, I do not have a photo of our first kiss, or exiting the ceremony as husband and wife. A complete let down and disgusted that we could have gone with someone else and could have had our memories captured. He is a thief and a liar. For our wedding we went through Ryan and a company called Wedding by Carue. Our big day was absolutely wonderful and I would have to say that Ryan captured our day absolutely perfect and exactly how I would like to remember it. The pictures not only turned out great but I am so thankful that he captured the whole day how he did so we can remember it for years and generations to come. If I could give zero stars i would, this guy hasnt gotten us our video after a full year, anniversary was two weeks ago. has every excuse under the sun, has kept our money and is just downright lieing. This after he has done work for family and friends, so not only will he do this to randoms but referral customers. I was going to get my kids photos taken and I hadn't done that in awhile. I was amazed by Ryan's abilities and he got my kids and I in a remote setting and made my daughter feel like she was on a runway, while capturing the best photos of my kids I have ever scene. Update: Recently received a letter from a layer that Mr. Bolger hired to have me take down my review! Complained that it was hurting his business. Not only will I not be taking down this review, but i also NEVER received ANY OF MY PRINTS from my wedding! I made numerous attempts to try to work this out with Mr. Bolger actually told him if he refunded some of my money to me we could work things out! Instead he hired a lawyer and is now trying to BULLY me into taking down my review! Is blaming me for losing business! Well, I still stand by my review and have HUNDREDS of emails to prove the correspondence between myself and him! If I have saved one person from using him, then it was worth it!!!!! read more

As nice as Ryan can be he can also be very rude. I was shopping around for photographers and I had always admired Ryan Bolger's work. Due to pricing, distance and my fiancé's preference we did not go with him. I explained to him that I love his work but it just would y work with us. Ryan got upset and said that "he is the best photographer I can ever find". While this isn't the case the photographer we chose was absolutely amazing. But as an artist my self I know artist always seek improvement and do not declare themselves as the best, There are different styles and different people. If two people look at a piece of art those two people will interpret it completely differently. As a photographer Ryan Bolger should know that. I admired his work but now he lost a fan. read more

We are having trouble getting our photos/videos from Ryan Bolger. Has anyone else encountered this same problem?

Awful human being. Stay far away from this scammer. Got married May 2019. Radio silence from him the entire summer, reached out in August 2019 and was ignored. Reached out again and threatened legal action in September and he said he's been really busy and will get the video to us in October. Finally in November we get a flash drive in the mail, except it's 3 hours of completely unedited footage. To put the cherry on top, he PURPOSELY cut out the footage of our ring exchange and vows, yet kept in 10 minutes of people receiving communion. It was clear this was purposeful because all the footage from the ceremony he gave us was from his poorly placed tripod and somehow it magically skips the vows??? Reached out to him multiple times since, even had our lawyer reach out, and absolute silence from him. DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN WITH YOUR WEDDING DAY!!!!!! Thankfully we only had Ryan do video and not photography as well. I dug a little deeper and found out he has done this to so many other people. Idk what kind of sociopath purposefully scams people on the most important day of their lives. What a waste of $1000. read more

I have done business with Ryan for at least five years now and he has been a complete professional. He seems to be constantly working but doesn't let the stress effect him, Ryan is always diligent in his communication and pleasant in his demeanor. I encounter many creative professionals in my day-to-day and there is a level of professionals that hold their work to a higher standard; I most certainly place Ryan in that group. Ryan recently was the photographer at my daughter's wedding in Charleston. His talent to show the beauty in every moment of this special day, took our breath away. He loves what he does and it shows. Every photo brought out the beauty in all that attended the wedding, as well as the bride, groom and bridal party. I absolutely loved the photo of myself and my Father, who has since passed, I don't have words to express how much that memory means to me. The quality of the video and photos was exceptional, and it took a very short time I think 7 weeks for him to edit and choose the most beautiful photos. I remember when I got married 25 years ago it took 6 months for me to receive my proofs and then I only received what was in my prepaid package. Times have changed, for the better. Look elsewhere immediately. Do not trust Ryan Bolger to deliver the expected. We hired Ryan for both photo and video for our July 2018 wedding. After PERSISTENT requests via texts and calls we finally received our photos in Janurary 2019. Although Ryan did not take the photo request list into consideration (we do not even have 1 photo of the whole bridal party both the guys & girls) the photos we received were creative, of high quality, and consistent with what was advertised on his website (hence 1 star). We did not receive our video until March 2019, again after persistent, daily requests. The full length & highlight videos were of such poor quality that we were too embarrassed to show them to friends & family. I personally edited the highlight video myself in order to show it to others on our anniversary. The videos are shaky, lack transitions, have poor sound quality & are missing important footage. We requested the raw footage from Ryan so that we could pay another company to edit properly, but unfortunately Ryan has not upheld his promise to send the raw footage. As a result of this experience, we now know several other couples who have had the same experience with Ryan. Save yourself the devastation and go with someone else!!! read more

I do not take this statement lightly when I say, "Do not hire Ryan". I tend to think people who write extremely negative reviews are the outliers but I now think differently. My husband and I hired Ryan for our wedding photos and video. Though I will admit his photo work is amazing (reason for one star) he is a poor business man. We got married in September 2018 and received our photos in February 2019 after numerous attempts to get them sooner (he said he would get them to us before the holidays). Our wedding video was sadly an even worse situation. Time and time he promised he would get us the video "this week". It was not until we went thru a lawyer that we get the raw footage and an 11 minute "working" draft October 2019... over a year later and not even quality work for the price we paid. I post this to hopefully prevent others from having a similar situation. I know 3 other couples this has happen to.. so it is not just us. Save your money and spend it on someone more reputable. If I were to say Ryan's work for my wedding was perfect...it would be not nearly strong enough to describe his work. We were lucky to be able to secure Ryan's services. Not only is he incredibly talented and professional. His ability to think on his feet and use what we were able to give him for scenery was nothing short of miraculous. Unfortunately due to my father passing ten days before my wedding my wife and I were not able to decide on or figure out where to take pictures at. Ryan turned a literal abandoned lot (the space next to the reception hall we had was a construction site) with one beautiful tree into a magical landscape. No one who has seen my pictures believes that they were from that spot. (It is close to where we live so all of our friends and family are familiar with it). Ryan's pictures are my favorite thing I have of my wedding. He works with your vision and makes your love story come true. If you have the opportunity to hire Ryan do it.
