We LOVE Ryan Ranch Children's Center! We have always had one-on-one child care in our home for our daughter, and we were really nervous and hesitant to put our child in a facility away from home, so we decided we would not put her in a facility unless we were 100% comfortable and thought it would enhance her growth. We visited a few schools in the area, as well as around San Francisco prior to moving to Monterey, but didn't find a place that we were comfortable with until Ryan Ranch. I called Ryan Ranch the moment I heard of it from a nanny at the park and was super impressed upon learning about their curriculum from Miss. Kelly over the phone. I went in the next day to tour the facility and knew it was exactly where my 2-year-old belonged. I went back again the following day with my daughter and husband, and they felt the exact same way as me. It was such a pleasure to see my very shy 2-year-old jump up and down asking if she could stay. Things that stood out to us were the structure, the learning opportunities being offered and the fact that the children seemed very happy. Now, two months in, we are happier than we imagined we could be. My daughter is well taken care of, and though she went in with far more knowledge than a typical 2-year-old, she is still learning new things. She has become more confident, outgoing, and self-sufficient, which has been a real pleasure to watch over such a short time. The owner, Miss Loretta, goes above and beyond, and is very easy to connect with and talk to. TLDR: The Children's Center is a safe and inspiring environment for a child to learn and grow, and I would recommend it for any parents that are looking for more than a typical daycare for their young children. read more

My son attended preschool and part of kindergarten here. I'm not sure what other people's experiences have been here, but I can't complain about anything except the price. $800 a month. Granted, if one breaks down the month by days and hours of operation, one pays $3.64 per hour (which comparatively isn't much), if you were to keep your kid there all day (which I didn't, but theoretically you could). Ryan Ranch is not a daycare for pre-schoolers, it is a genuine school. My son was challenged academically and I saw a distinct difference between him and other children his age who did not attend such a school. I always felt comfortable leaving my son there since their walls are high and you need a card to enter the facility. My son never complained about any of the staff. The facility is clean and it is plain that they do use a good amount of that expensive tuition in the upkeep of the place and in the purchase of educational supplies. I withdrew my son for two reasons: 1) The price; and 2) He was offered admission into a charter school that he had been waitlisted at in early 2012. If you can afford it and want your child to have a head start on the other kids, I recommend Ryan Ranch. read more

Honestly could not be happier that my daughter is enrolled. She's 8 months old now and I started her at 4 months old. Ms. Cynthia and Ms. Lisa are phenomenal. I have NEVER worried about her well-being while in their care. I can stop in at lunch and play with her and the staff is friendly and welcoming. I don't feel like I'm interrupting them at all. My daughter never fusses when I leave because she's so happy to be there and always has a huge smile when I come to pick her up. They are thorough and professional. Everything is so organized and clean, I honestly do t know how they do it! Some people have said it's expensive. I feel you really can't put a price on good childcare. I rarely have to buy diapers at home because they provide them there, they will make me lunch if I'd like which is super reasonable and they are worth every penny. Not to mention, my kid is there 50 hours a week. Most places charge extra for drop off before 7 am or pick up after 5. My only suggestion is to get on the wait list the moment you learn you're pregnant if you are planning on the infant program. I waited until I was four months pregnant and almost us to wait an extra month to get her in. Ms. Donna came through though and got her in right as I was planning on returning to work. I even brought her a few times prior to make sure I was comfortable and she was familiar with the staff. Bottom line: best daycare in Monterey County and you're crazy not to send your kids here! read more

My daughter has been going here for over a year. In addition, I have two other children in our family that attended this school. I call it a school because it is every bit an education and NOT a day care. What I like the most about this school is the fact that they keep the children busy and moving about. As all parents know, keeping your child interested for prolonged periods of time is just not going to happen. However, keep them moving from music then to art, then on to gym and so on really keeps them interested. All I can tell you is that I haven't had ANY issues with this place and my daughter absolutely LOVES it. read more

This place came highly recommended from friends. We heard of an opening and felt very fortunate to get our 5 year old into this center. We thought this would be a better alternative to public school kindergarten. We learned quick that the raving reviews from friends were from a time when this center had different owners. Unfortunately for us, the ownership has changed hands about 6 months ago (approximately) which is probably why our experience is drastically different. If your child is not perfect, they make sure they know it. They are not equipped to handle children that do not fit their mold exactly. It is evident that they do not possess the skill sets necessary to care for a wide spectrum of children with different backgrounds. Not what you would expect considering how much it costs to enroll your child here. They are most likely running the center based on the template that was already laid out for them, because it is evident they do not have any idea how to handle situations that might deviate from the routine. My child was made to feel he doesn't fit in, and they made us feel we had to grovel at their feet at every pick up. In a household where both parents have to work full time, there is nothing more important than finding a place that is nurturing for your child, a place that can handle any situation that occurs without having to call you at work to tell you about it. That defeats the purpose of "child care". Finding this out early for us is a blessing in disguise. There is nothing more important to us than the well being of our child emotionally, and this is not the place. Maybe as time goes on, the owners will invest some energy into some learning of their own to develop their child care skill sets so that they relate to the real world. Otherwise, if your child doesn't fit their fantasy mold, they will overlook or remove him or her to find the child that will make the collection of their large tuition easier, instead of taking the time to help him or her. It's obvious they lack the skills to maintain the pre-existing reputation of this center (their main goal), which is why our journey to find a new place for our child begins today. read more

RRCC is absolutely the best place for our children! After moving from out of state, my husband and I were looking for a school for both our children to start school at the same time. We checked out a few Montessori schools, daycares, and preschools in the area, but we did not think that any of them fit. At the time we were searching, our daughter, the younger of the two, was not potty trained, which meant some schools would not accept her unless she was potty trained. We were thrilled to find out that RRCC works with the child to help parents potty train. Out of the 5 schools we visited and 3 we called, RRCC was the last school we saw. It came highly recommended from a family friend, and the minute we walked in to RRCC we knew that this was the school for us. We applied in July and we were so excited we got the call in late August there was an opening, not just for one, but both our children. We came during the ownership changeover (almost 8 months ago now) and we were impressed that Ms. Loretta took the time to personally give us a tour of the school and answer all our questions. Ms. Loretta is amazing and you can tell that she has a true passion for ensuring the schools' success and genuine care for the children who attend. Another reason why we love RRCC is because of their support for the growth of each child. In a little over the 5 months that our children have been at the school, our son has moved up from a Bunny, to a Hawk, to a Mustang, and our daughter has moved from a Gosling to a Pony. She is also potty trained, which was the best thing ever. RRCC provided more assistance and positive reinforcement. Our son recently turned 5 and our original plan was to keep him at RRCC until he is ready for 1st grade, but since he moved through all the required levels, we decided to get a head start and look for the next school for our son to attend. We toured a total of 2 private schools in the area. We applied to one and we recently found out that our son has been accepted and will be attending Stevenson this fall. There is no doubt in my mind that one of the main reasons he was accepted into Stevenson is because of RRCC. RRCC prepared him to start Kindergarten this fall and we know it's because of their devotion to teaching, nurturing, and caring for all the children at the school. RRCC is hands down the BEST school in the area for our children and we couldn't be happier with the end result. Although our son is leaving RRCC we are more than happy to keep our daughter here. I was really worried about leaving my 4 month old at daycare. But the ladies at Ryan Ranch Childrens Center are wonderful. They make notes on everything they do so I can see how my daughter's day went. I go and feed her during my lunch, they are very welcoming. This place is great both my boys go here and we have one on the way that will be attending when old enough. My wife and I have never had any problems. The school is secure, clean and safe. The staff is great and they are caring. There is structure to the classroom and they have a good staff to child ratio. I can understand people saying $800 a month is expensive but childcare isn't something you want to bargain hunt for in my opinion. You get what you pay for. In the case of this school, it is worth every penny. Heck they even potty trained my sons, that alone is worth it. Great place! read more

My daughter has been attending for almost one year and she loves going. We do not worry about dropping her off to spend approx 8 hrs while we are at work which in my personally opinion you cannot put a price on peace of mind. It really is a school, she learns so much everyday that she is there and we love how excited she gets when she knows she is going in. I have known places to charge equivalent if not more and offer no where near what you get with Ryan Ranch. I only wished I could have had her start there sooner. The wait list is killer, I got on while I was pregnant and waited until she was 1 yr before they could get her in. Word of advice get on that list the minute you know you are expecting! read more

We have had both our kids at Ryan Ranch for the last year and they are both doing wonderfully there. The back yard is big and open with bikes and shade and grass. The class rooms are incredibly clean, and they make great hot lunches for the kids if you opt for that. I have heard that the kids come out of Ryan Ranch about a year ahead of the curve academically, and that is what I'm seeing with my kids as well. Their reading, writing, and math skills are getting stronger daily. They also have an art and music program, which the kids really enjoy. I leave my kids in the morning feeling confident that they will be well cared for. When I pick them up, they happily tell me about their day. I would strongly encourage any parents looking for a preschool to tour Ryan Ranch and see it for themselves. read more
