Knowing about the Montessori method, I began to search for this curriculum as I felt it might be a better fit for my child. I found Auburn's House and have been so pleased. My daughter is excited to go to school again, and loves to tell us everything she is learning! At school, our daughter is taught in a manner that develops the whole-child. This is very important as we want her to be well-rounded and have a variety of interests. In addition, the school supports the emotional and social aspects of the child that is void in most other settings. This gives her the ability to become an independent learner and explore the world around her. The special attention to the emotional and social skills has turned our quiet and somewhat shy child into a confident and independent child. While we could go on for pages about the benefits of this type of education, especially for preschool age children, the best way to get an idea of what an AMAZING place this school is for children is to visit and watch the interactions between the students and the teachers. It is truly something I never could have imagined after my years in education. Ms. Auburn has a gift, and we have been so lucky to be able to reap the benefits of her gift. The teachers are incredibly warm and caring, and it truly feels like more than just a preschool. The environment is beautiful and thoughtfully designed, with creative monthly themes that make learning fun and engaging. They even have live animals, including a bunny and reptiles, which my daughter absolutely loved. She especially enjoyed the baking activities and still uses skills she learned there in her everyday life. We also really appreciated the communication with weekly progress reports keeping us informed and the monthly photo albums were such a joy to go through together, helping her re-live and talk about everything she experienced. The holiday pageant was another highlight! So well-organized and heartfelt, just like everything they do. We were blown away! Most importantly, they prepared our daughter so well for "big girl school" (TK), giving her confidence and a strong foundation. How is this preparing them for high school? Or the real world? Last week I heard the PE teacher say, and I quote "I am sick of this crap" in reference to students not wearing the correct shoes for PE. Is that the way teachers talk to students now? My teachers never spoke to me that way and I went to public school. Guess you can pay big bucks for your kid to learn how to behave like an animal, instead of a human being.

We got on the list about 3 months before we arrives and both children were accepted over the summer when lots of turn-over occurs. There is priority to those with two working parents or one working one looking for work or single parent. As there should be. It may be frustrating if your child can't attend, but the process is clearly laid out or explained if you call. The front desk staff is knowledgeable and has overall been great. The room staff is also nice and keeps us informed. They also offer twice a month "date nights" from 6-10 and they will watch your kids for $4/per hour/per child. We routinely take advantage of this service, being able to go out alone and have both kids watched for maximum of $32 is wonderful!
