He was knowledgeable, funny, patient, and especially great with our kids, which made the whole experience enjoyable for our entire group, from our young children all the way to my parents. The tour took us to Bridal Veil Falls, the tallest waterfall in Colorado, and then to an incredible overlook with one of the most breathtaking views of Telluride. We never would have experienced these places the same way on our own. Riding in the restored 1970s Austrian military 6x6 Pinzgauer was an adventure all by itself. The truck handled the terrain unbelievably well, and the ride struck the perfect balance of excitement without ever feeling unsafe. It was just enough adrenaline for the kids while still being comfortable for my parents. If you're visiting Telluride, I can't recommend Dave's Mountain Tours enough. It was fun, scenic, family-friendly, and absolutely worth it. Ask for Grant if you can!!

We rented inner tubes with them to float on the river next to Telluride. The employee told us that it would take about 1 hour to float 3 miles, so we parked our car at the end of those 3 miles so we could easily finish our float at our car and head home. After 2 hours, we had only floated 1 mile. So, it would've taken us 6 hours to get back to our car instead of the expected 1 hour, at which it would've been after dark and much colder. Thankfully we brought a cell phone (even though we were instructed not to) and thankfully we had friends in the area we could call to pick us up. But the completely incorrect information we received from this company still put us in harm's way and could've caused us to be in a legitimately dangerous situation if we were any less lucky. I reached out to the company multiple times about their errors, and they never responded. Please do not ever rent with this company or trust any information they give you.

Then we headed out in the morning and went up Old Ophir pass on the way to Telluride. Very beautiful! In Telluride, Colorado for a long weekend and decided to check out the white water rafting. The…read morewinter snowfall was great and there is still lots of snow on the peaks. My wife had heard that Mild to Wild rafting took great care of their clients. Last year at this time, we were wading up the San Miguel river / stream and fly fishing. Shallow water, tranquil pools and great fishing made it a different weekend. When we booked this, I thought it must be a mistake as this stream did not seem strong enough for rafting and narrow in width. What a difference a year makes. The river was full, fierce with heavy water and good class 3 rapids for the next 1 1/2 hour. Big rocks, fast water, big snags and quick currents were the norm today. One had better stay in the boat, as it would troublesome swimming in 42 degree water. Alyssia, our guide was fabulous and serious about following her instructions. She navigated the rocks, snags and fast water. She maneuvered our boat well. For the next 1 1/2 hours, we had 3-4 foot swells and worked the entire trip. We have rafted many rivers and this was one of our shorter trips but a 5/5 on adventure. For a great adventure, beautiful scenery and a gorgeous day, raft with Mild to Wild. You will have a fun filled and adventurous memory for life.

This is a seasonal destination so try to come in the summer when the tours are running so you can walk and climb amongst some of the areas.

This national park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the best-preserved Ancestral Puebloan ancestral sites in the United States (nps) - it celebrates people. The snowy peaks in the background is San Juan Mountain. We visit multiple Mesa Top Sites, (900-1100, nps). MTS means top archeological sites within this park. We first stop at the Far View Terrace Cafe for bathroom break and also pick up our lady guide; then driving up north, stopping at the PitHouse, ending the tour at the information & research center in early afternoon about 2pm, that includes an hour lunch at Far View Terrace Cafe, with a wonderful view. Two other cafes are the Spruce Tree Terrace Cafe, and the Knife Edge Cafe. The Cliff Palace is impressive. But the tour didn't take us there - only viewed it from afar. I actually bought a mug that changes with heat and a pretty conch bangle from the gift shop. The information center is cool; the museum is ok.

The drive up during a storm was also an adventure we were nervous about not making our time slot with the roads being bad. We were able to make it during our slot time and luckily still had time to get ready. I will note to leave a lot earlier during a storm. Once we arrived our guide made sure to provide us instructions and made sure we all had proper gear for riding. They also offered us some hot drinks before, half time and after our ride back at the trail head base camp. During breaks my boyfriend and I were able to take turns driving and enjoy the views. The back seat was very comfortable. Our guide took us on some loops in the area and we came back to camp to warm up and use the restroom during breaks. My boyfriend did go off the track by accident and our guide with a few other men helped get it out easily. We had a lot of fun with our guide who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We did run into a few other groups on the trails which caused some bottlenecking. Our guide was able to coordinate to go around or let the other groups pass by us. I highly recommend going with ice pirates and also wish they had more merchandise to buy to remember our trip.
