Telluride Offroad Adventures provided the experience of a lifetime for me, and I don't say this lightly. A tour is a tour is a tour, but not with Kevin Pisters. Kevin's extensive knowledge of the historical significance of mining in the region since the 1870's was not only relevant, it was entertaining. There was no structure passed that he didn't have a comment about, sometimes technical and historically extensive, sometimes observational. Kevin has a reverence for the area, and it showed in his contagious enthusiasm for not only the history, but in his personal research and understanding of mining processes, and identification of rocks and minerals. I personally like to be entertained, but what I enjoy most is being educated. Kevin did both, and as deftly has he handled his jeep over the rocky pathways. Thank you, Kevin. I was a returning guest because I heard Black Bear Pass was open. I had previously done 2 tours in 2023 and was impressed with the cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicles, and the knowledge/ driving skills of the driver. I was happy to see that my driver for this adventure was again Kevin from my 2023 tours. Glad to see he now has a small dog companion, Ben, riding shotgun. This tour was phenomenal. We started with a quick drive through Telluride and it's history. Kevin is extremely knowledgeable on the local history and keeps the tour interesting with talk about mining, animals, flowers, and off-roading. With a couple of stops, we did Ophir and the epic Black Bear Pass in under 5 hours. His driving skills show as he made us aware of some of the tricky moves he would be doing and he made it look easy, even when navigating "the steps". I especially got a kick out of his "why do a 5 point turn if I can just go in reverse" move... I strongly recommend this company and if you get a chance to ask, Kevin should be your choice of guide... read more

This is an awesome way to explore the high elevation of Telluride that isn't accessible to most! Justin picked us up and was warm and welcoming from start to finish. He was knowledgeable about Telluride history, made sure we were all comfortable, and prioritized safety. Make sure to bring a rain coat! While we were able to sit inside the car, you'll still want to get out and see the sights, which means you may get wet depending on weather. He also shared so much rich history of the town with us. In Telluride for the Bluegrass Festival, we met a couple who shared their trail riding experience with Telluride Offroad Adventures. We immediately arranged a trip, and we are so glad we did!! Herb Manning picked us up at our rental and away we went. His vehicle was well stocked with water, and he briefed us on what we could expect. Herb is an expert driver!! The route to Social Tunnel was bumpy fun!! As there could be anxious moments on this mountain trail that ascends 10,000 plus feet, we were totally in good hands!! And when you think the trip couldn't get any better, Herb takes you to Bridal Veil Falls. The mist from the falling water is a cool treat. All in all, a fantastic tour with the best! Took the family on a 2 hour trip this morning to bridal veil falls and the social tunnel with Justin as our driver/guide. All I can say is Amazing!! Everyone was amazed at the beautiful scenery and we were all impressed not just with Justin's superb driving abilities but also with his vast knowledge of the area. My girlfriend and I went to Telluride in September of 2015 and had the privilege of having Herb Manning, the owner of the company give us a tour. Because it was slow season, it was only my girlfriend and I and he did not charge us for the solo rate. He was nice enough to give us a group rate. He is passionate about where he lives and is extremely knowledgeable about the surroundings. There wasn't a single question he could not answer! One more thing, the guy can drive and I felt completely at ease when going through Black Bear Pass. Oh! he also brought along his dog named Rocky! What a cool dog!
