Happy Easter, YELPers! Rynerson Park located in Lakewood, CA is a total hit with friends and family! From the spacious grounds, plentiful play areas, and even a dog run area, this park has it all. Today, Easter Sunday 2026, our group of 40 has been having a blast since this morning. The area is clean and well kept, with city workers on site doing light work in the background. Many families are enjoying picnics with one another, sharing dishes, and having a blast looking for Easter eggs. Just as we did last year, we engaged with a neighboring family for a fun game of volleyball. This has been great! There is plenty of parking available in the lot, with several spots being designated for handicap parking. No stairs or steps are needed to access the park and there is an abundance of street parking, as well. For being an outdoor enjoyment area the sound level has not gone above mid and the grounds are well kept and clean. I look forward to our annual picnic for next year, already! xx read more

Great park for a walk! This park is huge! If you take the outer paved trail, it actually leads up to a whole mile per lap. A great way to get steps in without the redundancy of a track and also a great way to keep track of how many miles you've walked. There's also several large grass sections where you can play fetch with your dog, there's always someone here with their pets so you know it's super pet-friendly. There's also a few tables you can reserve for picnics and events, including a charcoal grill! In addition, there's a playground which makes it a great spot for family fun time. There's even a path that leads to the river bank if you wanted to go for a run or bike ride there. Parking is plentiful. There's a back lot which you can access via the main street on Studebaker and there's also parking on the street as well, making it very convenient for your trip. Despite living in Lakewood for years, it took me *this* long to step foot on Rynerson Park. I really should have known about this park earlier, and it's only after finding myself in a bad mood multiple times over the course of this year that I feel like I've finally discovered the place where I can catch my breath, clear my head, and blow off some steam to get my mind off all the buildup of stressors I've had to endure for who knows how long. Rynerson Park was named after former mayor Jacqueline Rynerson, one of the Legends of Lakewood who was a big reason why the city is not a part of present day Long Beach. The park was named in 1990, and she was also a big reason for the existence of Lakewood Equestrian Center, situated adjacent to the park due south. The park is on the west side of Studebaker between Del Amo and Centralia. There is an offshoot off Studebaker that turns into a parking lot, but there is also a good amount of angled parking spots on the side of the main street. If you park on one of those angled parking spots, you can cross a bridge that will take you into the park. I think before, there used to be three bridges, but as of now, there is only one working bridge. On my last visit, I saw the other two bridges reinstated, but still closed. Hopefully they will reopen soon. The park is also south of Home Run Dog Park, and speaking of Home Run, a couple of baseball fields separate the dog park from this park. Rynerson park is so large and open that surely, there will be a nice spot to have a picnic, toss a frisbee, or even play a pickup game of soccer. And did I mention the horses too? Sometimes, I've seen a girl bring in a horse on the southwest corner of the park, where there's an enclosure that you can only get into by way of the horse trail. You'll also find some transmission towers in the park, which feel a little out of place, but since there's so much open space in the park, you'll almost forget they exist. The park is shaped in three interconnected loops, kind of like a Venn diagram, but they definitely don't look like the ones you draw in the classroom. Rather, the point I was trying to make was that you don't necessarily have to take the longest route all around the park. Rather, if you want to walk any of the three loops or even two out of the three loops, you can do just that. Look for a pair of smaller triangular patches of grass, and that will denote the boundary between any two loops. The south loop is the longest, and the middle loop, which encompasses the playground and various fitness equipment, is the shortest. On any of the loops, you can walk, bike, or even skate. I've seen them all, so when walking, pay careful attention to make sure you're not blocking the path of a bicyclist or skater behind you. I want to say the outermost loop is a mile in length, but I can't be too certain about that. Just expect a full lap to take on the order of 15 to 20 minutes if you walk. A lot of residents stop by this park to stretch their legs doing a myriad of activities, so you'll be sure to do some people watching here! There are a couple of bathrooms on the west side of the park, but it's been hard for me to predict when they are open and when they are closed. So just keep that in mind. Between the bathrooms is a bridge that leads to the San Gabriel River Trail, which is mostly for cycling, but I have seen some joggers there as well. I like taking a couple of laps around the park whenever I stop by, and I always enjoy seeing the various activities that others do around the park. You can also reserve a pavilion/shelter there, but you'll need to call Boyar Park to do that. It's always nice to get some fresh air out here, and the trails have been mostly clean the times I've gone. Don Knabe Community Regional Park, which I previously gave 5 stars, used to be my go to, but I've noticed recently the walking trails have gotten filthier since there are so many ducks and geese there. You won't find any ducks or geese at this park, but you'll likely find dogs. Sometimes, they're on leashes; other times, their owners do without. Luckily, I haven't been attacked by any dogs (yet). Absolutely recommend stopping by Rynerson Park if you get the chance! It's a great way to unwind and relax before a nice dinner, which you could enjoy at nearby Long Beach Towne Center! It's real close to the 605 Freeway, so this would make for a great stop to stretch your legs if you're on a road trip! read more

We love this dog park come everyday! But beaware of this irresponsible dog owner we need to be aware of dogs actions this dog owner let her dog guard the gate biting every dog that came through it attacked my dog so bad my husband had to pull the dog off. Where's the owner? She should have seen the signs he was growling by the fence. Then we witnessed four other attacks. One lady came to us saying her dog attacked her dog too. She finally chose to correct the dog but as you can see in the videos she has no control. Lastly she blamed other dogs and cursed then gave us the bird her and her dog need training I guess. read more

I won't write a whit or a jawn (Thanks, Erin O.!) about the pure wonder that I didn't get to experience but which I know exists at the extreme southwest corner of Rynerson Park. Why not? Because I don't know whether coyotes or hawks or owls read Yelp. I know said characters don't have the Yelp app on their phones because they're animals, and animals don't have phones, silly! But they may still check Yelp reviews on their desktops like I do (because of course animals have desktops), so not a single word from me. Nope. This park exists because of those scary, cancer-causing power lines. See, they're not allowed to build houses or really any structures that people occupy under them, so the under-the-power-lines places in SoCal are usually nurseries or other mostly outdoor places. Many thanks to the planners who didn't sell this land to anyone and instead created a really large park. The parking situations are kind of all over the place and crazy, but you can find parking in one of the many lots if you look. The park itself is maintained really well, and there's plenty of green space to run around in. There are also picnic tables, exercise stations, play equipment, shelters for larger gatherings, and more than a mile of concrete walkways that meander around the park. I wish it had more trees, but the lack of trees may have to do with the power lines. There's also a horse path along the western side of the park, and the whole place looks and feels a lot more rustic and inviting than you expect, especially if you're familiar with the area. One of the very few benefits to the horror that was 2020 was that I got to spend a lot of time locked down with my parents, and since we couldn't do very much, we tried to visit different parks every week. I saved Rynerson Park till toward the end because I wanted to hit all the really cool-looking parks first, and I was pleasantly surprised, because this place definitely should not have been an afterthought. We recently rediscovered Rynerson Park after realizing there are two brand new playgrounds! The new playgrounds are very nice, and my kiddo loves playing on all the colorful equipment. There are swings, slides, monkey bars and more. There is even workout stations for adults in between the two playgrounds. The park spans a large expanse of grass area which includes a walking trail, picnic shelters, and plenty of open grass area to play sports. Nice park to come and help the kidlet burn off some energy, or to take a relaxing walk. read more

Ive only been here twice. Once 5yrs ago when the playground equipment was old and about to breakdown. The other time I've been here was last week on a Thursday after school for a play date. I have to say the play equipment is so much better. Its colorful, spaced out well, and they have a workout station...in the middle of the two playgrounds. To be honest, i didn't come here coz it looked like a ghostown. Looked old and ragged. Lol. But now, i feel more comfortable, mostly for the sake of my kids. The equipment is more modern, safe, and its great. Will come here more often, especially i feel a little more motivated to use the gym equipment. Lol read more

I'm so disappointed in the park now, they used to have a huge garden by the barnyard animals and a lot of bunnies. What happen? Came here for a walk in the evening and really enjoyed their fitness trail. Saw cool bridges which are great for photos. I was thrilled to see several picnic tables with BBQ grills! I have had 3 events here but have visited many times. Such a beautiful and calm relaxing park. Centrally located and lots of parking. It is beautifullt landscaped and has a dog park. Every time I pass by it is full of people with their furry babies. If you go far south of the park to the end, there is a bunny farm..lots of bunnies you can pet. This is a great park, nearby is also the bike trail to the riverbed. Highly recommend, I have great memories here. read more

I used to really like this park it is a very nice park to take a stroll. However recently many people here do not pick up after their dogs. There have been a couple times I have stepped in poop on my walks it's sucks. That is not the parks fault because they cannot control what the people at their park do. I am just disappointed that the office in charge of this park never answers and their mail box is full. This park is great for evening strolls. I like to come here after work for a nice walk (2-3 miles). Every lap around the entire park is a little over 1 mile, so it is easy to keep track of your distance that way. After 8:00pm (summertime) it gets really dark, they could do a better job with the lighting. It's just scary to walk there when it's too dark. They do a pretty decent job maintaining it and keeping it clean. read more

Nice park and playground with a decent size walking trail. One of the best things about this park is that there's an adult exercise area between the 2-5 year old playground and the 5-12 year old playground. The playgrounds are interactive with your usual swings, slides, climbing ladders, and sand. There are benches around the park, some with shade and some without. The bathroom are walking distance from the playground which is alway a plus, especially with little ones. The negative aspect of the park is that although there are quite a few trees, the trees aren't very tall so there's lots of sun. This park is great. I love all the greenery and space you have to ride bikes etc almost every bench has a grill and the playground has 2 sets one for 2-5 and 6-12 year olds. I love how big this park is yet not so big to loose any little ones. Me and my husband checked it out for the first time with our family and we will be sure to visit it again maybe BBQ when it get warmer again and definitely bike as a whole family. The bridges connect to the bike trail which we will do in the future. read more

Came here for a friend who invited me for a canned food drive, car meet and bbq. Although it was raining off and on and didn't explore the whole park but it looked like a nice park they have restrooms and there is a sidewalk to walk on around the park. Saw a few people walking and running so a good place to get your exercise. Also they have bbq pits and trash cans around so great for get togethers and cook outs. read more

I don't understand why it's never really packed--my only guess is because Liberty Park is across the street. My only complaint is that they took the nature trail out. This is my favorite Lakewood park where I can walk for exercise. Unfortunately, since I live on the opposite side of the city, I don't get to come here too often. This park has a one-mile track that forms an oval stretching from one end of the park to the other. On a nice day, it's not unusual to see many people walking or running on this track. The track also has markers every quarter mile so you can track your progress. The park has a grassy area on the inside of the track that has a few fitness stations if you want to stop along the way. The west side of the park has a covered area with tables and benches to hold parties and get-togethers. The south end of the park backs up to the Lakewood Horse Stables. It's not at all unusual to see some rabbits under the fence near the stables munching on the grass. (I'm not sure if they're wild or if they belong to the people who manage the stables.) There is a pedestrian bridge that leads out to the San Gabriel River Bike Trail. On this trail, people ride their bikes, walk or run. According to the City of Lakewood, dogs are NOT allowed in any of the city's parks, leashed or not. Yet I always see people coming to the park with their dogs. Hmmm..... With that being the case, it's always a good idea to watch where you step since these same dog owners aren't always good about picking up after their dogs. If you can put up with the dogs (and especially the owners) and the bicyclists, this is a nice park where you can get your exercise---and that's a good thing! read more

This is a really great park, nice scenery, lots of trees, walking path, childrens play area, a couple of them... right next to the bike path but the only thing is these freaking little bugs that fly in packs of a gazillion get on my nerve, ahhhrrrgggg! Underneath all the power lines and nestled between the San Gabriel River and the tail end of Studebaker Rd, Rynerson Park is a gem of a Lakewood Park. Known for its horse trails, this park is a popular exercise location. The loop inside the park is exactly one mile and has multiple fitness stations along the way. If you're a little more adventurous, you can exit the park over the foot bridge and enter the San Gabriel River Bike Trail. Heading north to Carson you can cross the river and return south through the Nature Trail until you reach Del Amo. The loop is around a 5K and you can avoid concrete for 90% of it (respect your knees!). read more

Once of the cleanest and nicest parks I've been too. Started coming to this park 12yrs ago when my daughter was born. Park has been fixed and modified. It has a horse trail, dog park and picnic areas. Also has areas for bday parties. I enjoy coming here to walk with my family. Also a great place to go for a walk, a jig or even a bike ride since it leads into the river banks which take you right into El Dorado park. I do recommend. read more

Long park stretched along studebaker ave in Lakewood. Lots of grass ideal for picnics, and a few baseball fields for those young ones who play little league. We had a church group potluck, and set up by one of the picnic benches. Recommend to bring a football or soccer ball to throw/kick around because of the long space. read more

This is very well designed, beautiful and well planned park located by the 605 in the East portion of Lakewood situated off Del Amo Bl. on Studebaker. The main factor that sets this park apart is the available parking on the street as well as the plethora of free parking in the front and the back of the park. There is also a bike trail and an equestrian path for horse riders. Lots of space to roam, a jungle gym, and bridges similar to those seen at national parks. There are also shaded sections with BBQ pits that can be reserved in advance through the City of Lakewood at Boyar Park. Although the signs say no dogs allowed, dogs can be brought to the park as long as they are on a leash that doesn't exceed 6ft. Bathrooms are located on both sides of the park. However they don't have soap and hands are dryed using an air dryer. The main issue with this park are the presence of the power lines which can be a hazard, especially if you have children. Other than that this park is an excellent, smaller and low cost alternative to nearby El Dorado park in Long Beach, which charges for parking and is not that far down the 605. read more

We come here at least once a day every weekend to walk the dogs and unwind from the week for an hour or so. It's a really, really nice park! You'll always see someone walking, running, if you look over to the bike paths you'll (obviously) see people biking, on Sunday mornings the dog park is usually full - it's a nice, homey-feeling park. Most of the time the park is clean, the grass is always mowed, my dogs once they see the park start getting excited and them being happy makes me happy. The people here are friendly and inviting. I love how you see horses and rabbits and squirrels. All in all I love coming here with my mom and dogs, it's a great place to get a short run and relax after the week :) 4.5 stars! read more
