When I called, I found out that it was very inexpensive for a blowout and ensured I had someone that could deal with thick and a lot of hair. Unfortunately, when I got here, the gal was so nice and kind, but she just didn't know how to manage my hair. Just not as well trained in the way she held or used my brush or hairdyer. Understandably, I have difficult hair to deal with. Takes me a long time to dry my hair. It was a nice try, and less work for me in the end. We ended up with just a straight blowout, no waves. I went back to the hotel and had the bridesmade stylist quick fix it for me. My number one test for any haistylist to start trimming my hair is a blowout. If they can't pass that test, no way scissors are coming near my hair. Not many options around the area, so just ensure you have someone that can work with all kinds of hair here and you may be okay. The staff is very nice though.

Every hairdresser I went to tried to do something that was either technically out of their skill range or they heard my request completely different, giving me something completely different!! Eventually, I travelled to San Francisco where I knew an excellent hairdresser. She gave me one of the best cuts ever - I loved it. However, travelling to SF a few times a year is not financially viable. Eventually, It needed a trim and nervously I knew I'd have to go to a Vancouver hairdresser. Oh! No! Not a good idea - she tried to follow the style but couldn't and decided to do her own thing and messed up my "One and Only wonderful haircut in 3 years". I then decided to try Sukis: all of them Granville, downtown, Kits.. It was "hit & miss"...and very expensive. On the first cut it was ok but I still had to go back for a 2nd cut to get it right. Then out of pure luck I found "Lawrence Hart" and he understood exactly what I was requesting. He listened, gave me his honest opinion of how it would look and how he could help my hair look thicker, and why a certain type of cutting method works better for my quality of hair. I am overjoyed to have found him. If you are coming from London UK & want a good hairdresser who speaks your language, is v skilled and honest then Lawrence is the one to go to. Don't do as I did and try many different stylists in hope that you'll get a good cut. Lawrence worked in London before moving to BC. He is based in Whistler and well worth a trip from Downtown. If you don't fancy driving go with: Epic rides they get you there in 75 mins direct from Burrard. I am so relieved that I can now go up to Whistler as and when I need a cut, and I can stop wondering when I can afford my next trip to San Francisco!! It's somewhat tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the village - so it was incredibly quiet and peaceful. Although the price was higher than I initially expected at $250, the overall experience was really lovely and my skin looks and feels great. I also appreciated that Jen, the owner, was incredibly responsive, accommodating my same-day appointment request, and she went above and beyond in her service. She thoughtfully provided a few refreshments, which was a really considerate gesture and greatly appreciated. The salon itself is small, stylish and minimalist, clean and comfortable. Jen played soothing background music and used delightful-smelling lotions. She also included a complimentary back, shoulder, and neck massage in the last fifteen minutes of the session, which was a wonderful and unexpected treat. She is actually a licensed masseuse hence why her massage was soooooo good (I wanted more! haha). I also LOVED the face massage during the facial and I noticed some fluid retention / puffiness in my cheeks had reduced afterwards. While the price did come as a bit of a surprise, Jen kindly assured me there was no need to tip, which was a relief. The exceptional service and personal touches made the experience truly wonderful and my skin looked radiant within hours afterwards. Initially there was a slight pink hue, but that's just because the new baby skin had been revealed, and despite any very mild redness, I was still glowing and got hit on in the grocery store straight afterwards! bahaha! I was a bit nervous going in for the first time, but Oliver was fantastic. I explained what I wanted and he patiently nailed it perfectly. My wife said it was one of the best haircuts she'd ever seen me come home with and that's high praise. The atmosphere in the Cigar Shoppe was cool with old leather barber chairs and a view of the Village Stroll outside. The other staff were great too and the price was very reasonable ($30+tip - well deserved)!

Also, at 12 hours after the team did my hair and make up, my curls were still intact and my make up only needed blotting, one powder retouch and a gloss after eating. I love the little goody touch up bag she gave me after doing my touch up -- and I didn't know that she also gave one to my daughter, it was so sweet of her. Also, she offered to fix up my hair after the ceremony (as it was probably a mess with the rain and the little hike we did) even though she wasn't the one that did my hair -- that was very thoughtful and sweet of her. She really did go an extra step with her services!!! Natacha also did our ceremony and we loved every bit of it. She made the time to meet us days before the wedding. We are so grateful that she took the time to meet with us days before the wedding -- as we are not from British Columbia, that meant a lot to us. Throughout the process (from beginning to the end) the connection and communication was great! She took the time to get to know us and our story. I…read moreparticularly like the stretches Milda incorporates into the massage, which is something I haven't experienced at other spas. I also can't say enough good things about the facial. I suffer from migraines, and the facial left me feeling more relaxed than I've been in years. Milda really takes her time to apply the products, and my skin was radiant afterwards. I'll be back!
