We agreed on a time I would arrive at the salon and the next day when I did, I was greeted by a lovely woman, who pronounced my name and went to working on my hair right away. I was a bit concerned because I was wondering if she'd be able to handle my hair in all its thickness and kinky coiliness and she did, with the quickness. I was very surprised by how she was able to wash, condition, roller set, and blow dry my hair so fast. When it was time for the trim, I was confident that she'd finish the job right because she made sure to tell me what my hair was looking like and what needed to be done before proceeding. She even had Jose explain it to me more thoroughly in English. One of the things I appreciated about the salon besides the excellent customer service, the actual great service, and the cost was that the place felt comfortable. I was greeted and I felt welcomed and warm while at the shop. It felt like the old school shops where everyone says hello and is pleasant. I highly recommend this place, as they offer great options and perks that come with getting your hair done. I walked out looking like "who's that girl" and was grinning from ear to ear. I've had many styles in my day from natural, braids, extensions, French roll, to a bun with bangs -- so it's safe to say I'm well versed when it comes to hair. I recently made an impulsive decision by cutting my hair short and dyeing it red. After three weeks I was over my cut and wanted my longer hair back. I came in as a walk-in and approached two people before I was directed to Gloria. We exchanged pleasantries and I explained to her what I wanted. It was about an hour wait because she just finished braiding up a lady. I guess we both were in cahoots because she wanted extensions as well. Gloria is no joke! She was kind, but not so gentle. Disclosure: I'm tender headed and sensitive. I told her it was too tight maybe three times throughout the ordeal. Braiding my hair is always a killer I think that's probably why my Mommy gave me my first perm at a young tender age. I thought I was in Harlem at an African salon getting micro braids. She asked me if it was too tight to let her know. Overall I'm over the moon pleased with the outcome. The salon is quaint and needs renovation. There's only two washing basins and four dryers. The bathroom is small. It's hard to wipe and not bang into anything. P.S. Human Hair Extensions are $100. Disregard the sign that says weaves are $79.99 unless you're using synthetic extensions.

She recommended a deep conditioning treatment, which left my hair feeling amazing. A couple of months later, I returned because I had hair extensions in and just wanted a wash, dry, and blowout. At the time, Yeimmy was in the Dominican Republic, but she connected me with Sandra--and I absolutely fell in love with her! Sandra was so gentle, thorough, and made sure my hair was well taken care of. She actually reminded me of my aunt from the Dominican Republic, which made the experience even more special. I was so happy with her work that I went back again a few weeks later when I needed my extensions done. I haven't been in a while, but I definitely plan to return. After speaking with her via facetime ($40 pd consult) Which I was very flexible she called me back about an hour after the appt and I still didn't mind. She informed me of a $2050 package (hybrid install k-tips i-tips/ wash and set and removal) and her showing me the different hair textures via Facetime. She explained that a $250.00 deposit was required for the package and so later that afternoon: I instead Zelled her $300 (so as to lower the remaining balance amount, which we agreed would be paid on the install day that was TBD) She explained to me that she doesn't color the customers hair only color matches the extensions. Therefore, because I wanted a Balayage on my hair we agreed that I would reach out to her once I dyed my hair elsewhere so that she can then do the extension color matching.. I then sent her a picture of my new hair color and she stated that she would get started on the hair matching.. Therefore, I didn't think there would be any further discussion on the hair topic other than setting a date for the install, once she also confirmed that she had color matched the itip extensions.. So I reach out to her three days after to confirm whether she had an idea as to when the hair would be ready and reiterating the fact that I needed assurance that she could match the extensions exactly to my hair color and if not that I didn't mind taking the extensions to my colorist so that she can color them) She stated that the extensions would be $400.00 more and she confirmed that she (had not dyed them and I was glad because the sample of haircoloring that she showed me on her website was not my style nor did she have any example close to a Balayage).. and that she was open to this option. I later reached out to my colorist and after discussing the charge with her I decided it was best that I not proceed with neither job... She explained that she would get the $300 sent back to me the next day.. I am still waiting.. Since then she has not replied to my text messages nor phone calls. She is truly speaking to her integrity, because if she had some form of integrity she would have retuned my deposit immediately because she has seen that I even had the trust to not send her $250 but $300 and via Zelle.. I called ahead and we negotiated a VERYYYY reasonable price of $55 and asked me my hair color so she could have the hair ready. Note: as other reviewers mentioned there are at least 3 other braiding salons in this building/hallway, it is not uncommon for the competition to lie about their name in order to pilfer customers which is why Matou had me call her so she could personally escort her to the shop. Just make sure the shop says UNITY and you'll be good. Wanted long cornrows with extensions on my thick mixed race natural hair... came in with my hair washed and detangled and she began her magic. 1.5 hours later she left me with NEAT, PRECISE, DETAILED cornrows that weren't too thick or loose. She works quickly but not sloppily nor does she rush you out of the chair. She's also quite friendly. Admittedly this place is not glam or ritzy, but it is large, well ventilated, they have a TV and there were no bugs!
