I went here on Mother's Day weekend. I had an appt scheduled with deposit for 8am. I did not leave their salon that day until after 2pm for a sew in with leave out and I came with my hair already washed and blow dried. A day before my appt I noticed they had switched who the stylist would be but that did not bother me at all. What upset me was the fact that i got there on time for my 8am appt but my stylist wasn't there so they had someone else do my braid down. It got even worse because once that part was done I waited over an hour for someone to even acknowledge me. I completely understand that it was a busy weekend but if you have a scheduling system all stylists should be aware which client they are supposed to be taking care of first. Whoever was supposed to actually do my hair NEVER acknowledged me or apologized for the unprofessionalism. I hope you ladies clear up your scheduling system because I really believe all the stylists in there do an amazing job which was why i noticed their instagram page in the first place and my hair did come out good but I just did not like how that day played out. I was going to a stylist name Chi Chi (Chinyere) & had been a client for years but I guess greed got the best of her & she switched out my hair for some cheap thin quality hair that I believe she was selling at one point. I brought hair from her years ago & said never again because it was too thin & poor quality. The owner is also in on it. When I called the owner to try & rectify this, she made it seem like I was making this up. I had been getting my hair done for over 10 years. I would never buy low quality hair, that's just not me. It might work for some, but I want my hair to last & look good, so I would never go the cheap route. I know for certain they switched my hair out & probably will resell the hair I brought. I was initially going to another hairstylist who canceled on me 30 Minutes before my appointment. I looked up saloons in queens where I could get a silk press. Posh Beauty was easy to find on Google. I immediately called Jessica and accepted to take me in. The saloon is also located right outside the bus stop . So it's easy to find if you are commuting. I walked into the saloon, Jessica welcomed me. She was very generous to start attending to me almost immediately. Yesterday evening was my first time going to this salon. I was a little anxious, going to new salons can be intimidating at times. You never know the vibe of the salon, or how they operate. But I was excited that I was able to call on Monday and get an evening appointment for Tuesday because my crochet braids were approaching bird nest status and I needed a new look. Entering the salon I was immediately greeted and my hair dresser met me (Kenny). She quickly removed my old crochet braids, washed, deep conditioned, and blow dried my hair. She made very neat braids (not too tight not too loose, just right), and installed the crochet hair. I was really impressed with how natural she made the knots on the parted area look (invisible knot). I had never had that done before, it was always very obvious I had a crochet style in. The hair came out big and curly just the way I like it. Crossing my fingers I don't ruin it going to the gym! I got so many compliments today at work on my hair! Looking forward to going back to the salon and getting my hair done by Kenny. Happy I had a pleasant experience and felt welcomed. Finding a stylist that can properly treat and style natural hair is hard work. It takes proper research and recommendations to land a great stylist. After seeing my stylist who works from the comfort of her home in Brooklyn for the past 2 years, I decided to take a big risk and research other stylists who silk press natural hair in the Queens area. For the past 5 months I have not had a trim and have not had my hair professionally straightened. My Yelp research lead me to Posh. Many Yelpers ranted and raved about Juleen's silk press technique and scissor skills. It definitely lives up to the hype. Posh was the runner up against another local salon in the area I had been considering and I'm glad I came. I called during the week and owner Jessica was able to help me book my appointment. She was pleasant and accommodating. When she informed they had Sunday hours, I was relieved. Booking appointments after work is a hassle and silk pressing natural hair takes hours. I booked a 12:30 Sunday Appt. When I arrived Juleen was working on 2 other clients ahead of me. The shop is exactly how it is described. A POSH ambiance. When you spend money on a service you want to indulge in relaxation. When you pay salon prices, you should be seated in a clean and modern salon. The sinks are modern, the dryers are brand new and the seating is posh! Posh raises the bar literally. I love the salon decor and the overall cleanliness of the shop. I have been to many salons that are dingy and they don't even have a clean towel or salon cape to offer you. I loved everything down to how my towel was placed around my neck. Juleen managed her time effectively. She was able to style her clients all at once. When it was my turn she discussed the hair treatment options with me and began washing me. She washes hair very thorough. The pressure on the massage was just enough. My hair was thoroughly cleansed and treated and ready to style. I really liked how she did not overuse any products in my hair, leaving my silk press as it should be. LIGHT. SILKY and full of body. My hair feels so good and the press was perfection. You would think I had a relaxer. CUT IT... CUT IT My biggest pet peeve is uneven hair. I needed a trim like yesterday. Juleen was precise and accurate when trimming my hair. Not everyone can be trusted with shears but I'm so glad I took a chance and let Juleen style me. Love my trim. My trip to Posh also did not break my bank. I went to get a silk press yesterday for the first time, by a stylist at POSH named Cassandra. I had to ask questions about products, the procedure wasn't explained to me, and when I left my hair frizzed up in less than an hr. I called POSH to discuss this with the stylist IMMEDIATELY, and I was told "she stepped out." I did not receive a return phone call from the stylist until almost 9pm last night. Only to hear "well what did you do to it?" She then offered for me to come in "sometime later on next week and book another appointment." Fast forward I returned to remove the glued in wig by the installer 3 hours later I left the salon without even a hair style. She has some pictures posted on Style Seat and I saw what I wanted and booked with her. Her assistant is excellent and professional. She got in me for the day and time I wanted. When I first arrived at the salon I notice how clean and well kept it was, her assistant got started right away and washed my hair. I always go to the salon to wash my hair cause I just can't be bothered to wash it myself and never in a millions years anyone washed my hair the way she did. I enjoyed it just from the the wash alone I knew I was coming back. What an awesome wash , it felt like I paid to get my head massaged and I have been to plenty of places that massaged your head and it still didn't feel like that. That's a skill. Anyway moving along. After my hair was washed and dry Jessica got started I got crochet braids. She did an awesome job, she did not half step anything. I sometimes get so impatient getting my hair done I was ready to get up but she was very detailed that she took the time and wanted it to be perfect and filled it in that needed more hair. My only complain is to go on a day you don't have anything to do, because she is so particular about her work she will take as much time needed. Because of the exceptional service I received FROM HER the two times I patronized this business, I brought my sister along for a service. My sister sat in the assistant, Shantay's, chair while she waited for me to be done. Instead of the assistant asking my sister to be seated elsewhere, they scowled at her then whispered to my stylist to ask her to move from the assistant's station. Incredibly petty, but my sister moved and sat somewhere else. Apparently the assistant didn't approve of that seat either and asked my stylist to ask my sister to move again. Annoyed at this point, my sister prepared to leave while voicing her annoyance to me at the pettiness of the assistant who was already with a client at a completely different station. The assistant WHO HADN'T BEEN ADDRESSED by either of us at this point started yelling at my sister. The owner Jessica got involved and instead of being professional and deescalating the situation, they added to the screaming. In an unwarranted act of lunacy, Jessica threatened to stab my sister with a pair of scissors because of their assistant's behavior. And the assistant called the cops on my sister WHO VERBALLY DEFENDED HERSELF. Naturally, after we left, we filed a police report and will never patronize this sorry excuse for a business. This will be one of the hardest reviews I have had to write because I truly did believe in the business and for the past year and a half have been taking my five year old daughter there to get her hair done. I also have been going there for that length of time to get my own hair styled. I hope this review will help the owner, a young business person, learn not only the importance of customer service, but also the value of customer loyalty and how respect for her customers matter. On January 2nd, I texted the owner, Jessica, to let her know that the wig she made for me felt insecure. I told her it felt like it was sliding back off my head and that the combs she had installed on the side were flipping back and forth. She replied that this was all in my head as what I was saying was impossible and that I was the first customer to ever tell her this, as if being the first means it could not happen. There is a first for everything. Anyway, I asked her if she was at the shop at the moment but she did not respond. An hour later, with my five year old in tow, I went to the shop. I saw Jessica and again told her that the combs are going back and forth and showed it to her. I also told her that the wig was unsteady on my head and insisted that it was not "all in my head". I told her that I have worn wigs before and know how they are supposed to feel. She inspected the wig and in an angry tone said, "ok, well the thread is loose, you should have said the thread was loose." I explained that I did not know what exactly was wrong with it all I knew was that the comb on the inside was flipping back and forth and that this was only the second day of my wearing the wig and I couldn't even hook it into my braids for steadyness. She continued to yell that I should have said it was loose. I pointed out to her that she did not even suggest that I bring it in but just refused to say whether she was at the shop or not and insisted it was all in my head and what I was saying was impossible. She continued yelling and screaming and when I asked her to lower her voice and stop yelling at me because I had paid a lot of money for the wig she replied, "so what?" I paid $280 for that wig to be made and all the owner could say when I bring it up is "so what?" I am a single full time working mother who work ver hard for my money. Jessica yelled "you think because you paid this money you can talk to me anyway?" Then she turned to her assistant and said "I am done with this", gave her the wig and told her to fix it. She didn't have the decency or the courtesy to fix it herself. I have inserted the text message I got from her so you could see what she thinks of her customers who have been long term. If it happened to me it could happen to you. The lack of professionalism was disturbing. the yelling happened infront of my young child who had to witness this. Everybody go to Juleen to get your natural hair silk pressed I've been going to her for a year now. She's got growing hands. She's patient she respectful. My silk less lasts 3 to 4 weeks no perms necessary and the best part is no heat damage. When your hair goes back to it's natural state all your curls return. Besides the fact that i had to tell her to use detangler on my hair, she gave me a horrible hair CUT (mind you i wanted a trim) I got the worst dry hair cut possible. My right side is shorter than my left side. My hair was sore, edges are gone, and i swear that i have patches in my head. This is a waste of money. I did my big chop in November of 2013 for the second time and since then I haven't flat ironed my hair. So sometime last month I decided that instead of coloring my hair like I'd usually do every April and October, I'd go and get a proper blow out and trim. I went on Friday night to get a weave with a lace frontal installed. I bought the hair from the salon. I left the salon at 11 at night. The next day I notice the lace frontal was a different color than sewed in tracks. I informed the stylist Jessica. The next day I had a fever and I had pain in the back of my head. I went home and had someone look at the back and my head was filled with bumps. The person removed the weave and my entire back of my head was red with bumps. Also I some of my baby hair was damage. I asked for a full refund and the stylist stated this is not the policy of the salon. My scalp was damage and I believe a full refund was due as I was physically affected by this situation. The stylist was rude and unprofessional. Now I am unable to have any styles that cause pulling to my hair. She does about FOUR OR FIVE PASSES for EACH SMALL section. So yes hello to heat damage and flat hair. I'm not even going to get into the fact that I have SEVERAL burns around the perimeter of my head due to her excessive use of the hot comb. I wish I had read a review like mine before coming here. I never ever threatened to destroy anything in your store. The chairs are already ripped up, the sink had rust and there was dust all over the hair dryer. What more damage could I have already done to your "posh" store? you also did not file a police report after I left because my sister was there when the police came. Did you forget that part or does that come with your selective memory. Your "assistant" told them that I left so there wasn't a problem. Whether you filed a police report afterwards I'm not sure. But you saying you filed a police report when the cops came after I left is a complete lie. It's a shame that an older more mature women like yourself has to resort to lies when they get called out. The fact of the matter is, you and your "assistant" don't know how to conduct themselves in a professional setting. And let's be real, I did have the upper hand which is why you got so threatened and called the police. You had no idea how to handle someone who wasn't going to back down from you and your lawless behavior and you lost all power and control. They made me go to the ATM to pay an extra fee to take out money argue with me when I asked why wasn't I told that the credit card machine was down prior to my appointment. My hair turned out like trash and gave me a grandma hairstyle put way too much heat in my hair. Trust the bad reviews on here. I went on a saturday to look for a salon and all I needed was for someone to taper the back of my hair ( I have a bob) and I was also looking for a new stylist close by me. I called the shop as I was sitting outside to check availability. The receptionist on the phone was very professional she asked one of the stylists who will be willing to do. the stylist she found wanted to see me first to give me pricing and how long . No problem, i went to the shop and introduced myself and they said go to (what ever name they said I cant remember because I'm so upset now ) .She was the 4th chair from the left hand side of the shop. I walked to the girl and she just stared at me. So I asked are you the person they told me to see ? She gave me a dry look and said turn around . So I turned around and explained what I wanted and she just continued with her dry look and said nothing until I said ,so...what do you think? She said with an attitude" I'll see what I can do?" She didn't give me a price, which was the reason I came in or explain what she was going to do. After saying those 5 words she went on about her business. She looked miserable and her mannerism showed she didnt want to be there. There was no where to sit because there are only 5 chairs in the front so I was standing. There was one particular stylist in the first chair on the left that was courteous and asked if i wanted to sit down after standing for a while. i said no I'm leaving . The receptionist called my phone and asked what happened? I told her the lady was very rude and unprofessional and she just lost a good paying customer and a good tipper. The attitudes of some of the stylist were ghetto they were not warm and inviting if looks could kill... i would no longer be here. I would no recommend this place AT ALL! That is no way to treat new customers . I found a much better hair salon blocks away they were professional the place was clean and she received a $50 tip from me and she only charged me $25 taper and curl my hair. read more

I've gotten my hair done here a few times, full head extensions, and every time the tracks have come undone. This time three of my tracks came loose, as in the thread came out, within two weeks. Three of them! I had to re see them in myself and use Bobby pins. I wasn't going to even go back to have her do it because this was simply unacceptable. Not to mention the owner always answers phone calls and keeps you waiting. I was willing to over look everything, hence why I always went back, but when most of my tracks came loose within 2 weeks I decided it wasn't worth it to even come anymore. I'm not willing to spend the expensive cost for them to do a quick job on me where my hair is coming loose. No thanks. I'll take my business elsewhere. I almost feel like it's done deliberately too since he owner suggested I come back to get the hair tightened.... I've done my hair many times elsewhere without needing a tightening... only when I come here do I need that. There are some positives about this salon but there is no redemption when you pay your money to get a SEW IN and it comes loose 2 weeks later in three whole places. Extremely disappointing experience. My hair broke off so much after taking out my weave done at this salon. I love the way the weave looked but I went in with very nice natural hair that i generally always wear out. I take very good care of my hair but I did have some split ends and I guess that, the lack of moisture and tight braids didn't help. I reached out to the beautician Jessica after the fact to express my concern and she simply told me she wasn't taking the blame for my split ends which I find very unprofessional. She didn't even look at and/or examine my natural hair before installing the weave. She just had her assistant blow dry and braid it quickly and then she did the sew in. A true beautician would have noticed the split ends BEFORE installing the weave, given me a trim beforehand so that my hair didn't break off up the shaft so badly. I've had tons of weaves and protective styles done in the past and never has my hair broken off this badly. I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone after this experience and I certainly will not be returning. read more
