We dropped off these really pretty vintage Restoration Hardware chairs on Wednesday 6/4/25 to have just the back sides reupholstered with cowhide that we provided. This is the first time I've ever left a one star review for a company, and I've written dozens of reviews. I highly recommend avoiding this place for any upholstery of chairs, or with any fine fabrics.... this is an elementary level shop... and rude customer service. When I first asked S&J to quote me to create a slip cover for a child's chair, I agreed to a fair price, dropped the chair off and scheduled a pick up a few days later. When I picked the chair up I was SHOCKED at how poor the workmanship was for the slip cover. The slip cover didn't fit (way too big) and was VELCROED at the bottom!!! Velcro!!!?? I left the chair with Jimmy to resize the cover and remove the velcro. Picked it up a few days later, and Jimmy only charged me half price because he also agreed that the chair didn't turn out well. A couple of months later I brought the cover back in because the seat was tearing in multiple places at the seam. I asked Jimmy to please reinforce the fabric because if he didn't it would just tear again, given the way that the chair cover had been sewed. He refused to put any kind of reinforcement (stating that would have had to be done when the cover was first made?! Obviously a profession shop would have done what they knew was correct the first time around). Instead he just told me to come pick up the chair, and insisted the chair cover probably would rip again... but it was because of how the chair was being used. Well Jimmy, yes the chair is sat in, the way someone would normally use a chair... the reason it is ripping is because the people who sewed the cover had no idea what they were doing. read more

I only took new fabric & the cushions from my Dutalier glider to S & J Upholstery to be reupholstered. I was concerned that the snaps on the new cushions might not match the snaps on the actual chair. My worries were unfounded. Without having to transport the entire chair, the cushions fit perfectly & make the chair look brand new. S & J did a wonderful job; & the price was very competitive.
