I've never had this happen before. Even with our other handyman, plumbers, etc. - if you can't do the work, you don't get paid for NOT doing the work. We were told that this would cover gas expenses - why take a job that is out of your network? They knew our address well before coming out. Also, some of our intake conversations were over text, so I wish we discussed the job over photos so they knew what we wanted to do in terms of the job and give us a proper quote. Just felt very scammy and weird after them asking for money without starting the job.

When I ran the quote through ChatGPT I was told they were charging me dealership pricing for an independent mechanic for that type of work in LA. So I brought the truck here to Speedway where I had Minor worked done before and had a good experience. They told me my bearings need to be replaced and did the work for lesson than a quarter of the price I was quoted at the other mechanic. Work was finished in a day and the truck has been running perfectly since then. Had I spent to 4800 at the place it wouldn't have even resolved the issue, which means I would've had to come out of the pocket even more after the initial work was done. Obviously a truck of this age is gonna have some problems and when they inevitably happen again I will be back here at Speedway to take care of them. Had to leave the car at a gas station because AAA didn't have a tow truck for me at that hour. Told me it'd be 5-6 hours.... Not cool so left the car and went home via uber. Next day I get to the car but before I did, at 10:50am AAA told me a tow truck would arrive between 11:45-12:45. Great. Got to the car at 11:20am, and waited and waited and waited. Was assigned to a tow person which btw the reception extremely rude over the phone, told me it'll be actually another 2-3 hours, and then never called or communicated with me. Hung up on me. I ended up going rogue and called Fernando Towing. Owner answered and told me a flat fee and they'd be there in 20 min. Understanding of my situation, SUPER nice, and straight to the point. I told him I needed them here by 1pm because the gas station manager was going to tow the car. Fernando towing said no problem! We'll be there before then. Said and done! Immediately relieved the stress I was having. Of course the towing company AAA assigned came 10 min before Fernando Towing did. I said nope sorry - I canceled already, and your people were rude.
