A buddy rode back to Sundance to pick up a tractor battery from an auto parts store. Riding down Cleveland ST, he saw a sign for Woody's HD repair! They had a battery in stock, and he brought it to me and I was on my way. Unfortunately, 20 miles down the road, the battery and engine light came back on, and I knew I had an electrical issue and immediately pulled over. I knew I could not ride the 30 miles back to the shop, so I used the receipt and called Woody's. They sent a trailer and picked me up. Woody's was jammed as this was Sturgis Bike Week. They had correctly identified a burned out stator and had (1) in stock. 2 hours later, I was back on the road and the rest of my trip was without further mechanical issues. Erica, the shop manager and wife of the owner, was the nicest, most understanding person I have ever met. She was very reassuring that my bike was in good hands and would be fixed. The prices were very fair, and Justin, the owner and tech, was very capable. This is an OASIS in the middle of nowhere (as far as a broke down bike is concerned), and all of us felt lucky to be is such good hands. Another surprise was that Deluxe HD was also located across the street (new shop), but I much prefer Independent repair shops.

It was late Friday afternoon in Deadwood and my car would not start. I opened the hood to check…read morethe battery connections. The connections were secure but I discovered that in addition to the electric fault the water pump was leaking. I called South Side Service and explained my predicament. Pat told me that if I could get the car to him he would look at it. I was able to push start the car and drive to his shop. Pat called around to locate a water pump and starter without success. There were no parts available. Not even in Rapid City. We drove the car up onto the hoist and Pat agreed to look at it Saturday. Pat called me Saturday morning and stated that he got the starter working by striking with a hammer to free the brushes. Not a permanent 'fix', but it started the car. Bravo! He was able to stop the water pump leak with a bottle of radiator stop leak. Another temporary 'fix' but good enough for me to try returning to Minneapolis. I stopped at the Chevy dealer in Rapid City to inquire about parts availability. The dealer also stated that there were no parts in the entire region. I continued on to Minneapolis without any problem. The point of this review is to commend Pat of South Side Service for doing what he could on a Saturday. Thank you, Pat. Lee

I ended up stranded on the side of I-90 in almost 3" of hail on an incline towing a small 554 lb trailer without snow or all season tires because it was June and I'm from California. I called the Gillette Police Department, who called the Highway Patrol, who called a AAA wrecking company to pull me out. Dexter's showed up shortly after and I was soon on my way. The driver was very friendly and because I was a bit freaked out by the whole incident, also calm and gave me good advice about how to drive through the water covered and some ice covered roadway until I was safely out of range of the storm. Note: If you're towing a trailer you'll need to have premium AAA coverage to tow both your car and trailer.

Terrible shop with the worst mechanics, I was deployed and my ma wanted to do something nice for…read moreme. She took the truck to the shop and they were supposed to fix the rear main seal and the water pump. They proceeded to tell her it wasn't the rear main seal and that we needed a new oil pan. Charged her for what should've been a gold plated coil pan and then they didn't connect the air intake properly and also jammed the mass airflow sensor in sideways. When I had gotten my truck back after deployment it was gasping for air we found the air leak and fixed that particular problem. However I ignored that it had a new rough idle and it just threw code for both banks and that's when I noticed the mass airflow sensor. whoever the mechanic that worked on my vehicle should never be allowed near a vehicle again. The amount of items he was negligent towards not to mention the lack of finesse with the parts he reapplied show he does not have what it takes to be a mechanic. I was so mad initially with how I got my truck back i didnt ever want to acknowledge my truck went to that shop I now regret not taking it back and forcing them to fix what they had done.
