Met with Blake on working out a bid and coordinated with Amy in their office. I had a couple of small issues.. they handled it professionally and in a few days issues resolved! They replaced my gutters, flashing and sheeting along with moisture barrier underlay.. lots of work.. all done in just a couple of days! They had a lot of clean up! They striped 2 layers of old shingles off and replaced my entire gutter system. The new was a big improvement over the original! Pulled a large bar magnet around to pick up loose nails and staples as well. I found S&S Roofing to be competitive and honest. These guys are real hard working pros! I wanted to update my review as it is now posted on BBB Utah. Here it is! I wanted to inform people about S&S roofing, as I spent over 6K on overlay to my existing roof a little over 9 years ago. I decided to go with S&S roofing. We discussed putting a 2nd layer over top as they stated it will be just as good, and a few thousand dollars cheaper. I originally thought they did a great job, and they had a site manager inspect the roof when it was finished. He came down and informed me everything was good. Now I am a 100% disable veteran who has had back surgery from supporting the war in Iraq, so I cannot climb up on a roof anymore. Due to the harsh winter we are in I called up to S&S roofing two weeks ago to see if I could get someone to check my roof out as I was hearing noises I have not heard before. She spoke to me in all reality very snotty way. She said, "Well that was over 9 years ago and the warranty of the shingles are through the company who makes them, not us. If you wish for us to come, check your roof there will be a charge of $350." I said really, no thanks there is a couple of companies I will call who will check my roof for free, and hung up. I went on the BBB website and selected a couple of companies listed and gave them a call. They both came out and checked the roof and both stated the same thing: The shingles are fine, BUT there are issues. When they installed the shingles they did not run the shingles all the way to the house. They did not put any flange Flashing or caulking to protect the water from seeping under the shingles. There is a very evident gap between the house and where the shingles stop throughout the existing roof. They informed me the only thing that is saving me is the existing roof that is there, because the water is going under the shingles and running down on to the original roof shingles. I will have one of these companies do my work. I put my trust into this company and I thought would last me 30 years. Don't believe what they say, and get it in writing. I will warn my fellow Veterans to stay clear of this company read more

My neighbor called them for an emergency repair for a leak, however the first tech came out but told her he couldn't do anything because the roof was frozen, ok understandable, but they charged her $688 for nothing !!! The second response resulted in a couple patches with about 30 minutes of labor time This charge didn't stop the leaks but she still had to pay read more

Spoke to three roofers here in the SLC area just after visiting the January Salt Lake Home Show...and two were high, and the third was a no show. Then our neighbors (who are both realtors) suggested we talk to S&S. So we called and had them give us an onsite and a quote. The final quote came in from Justin, and it was exactly what we wanted...detailed, listing each component by name, and with the final installed price. It beat the other quotes by a solid/comfortable margin. So my wife and I pulled the trigger on S&S and we couldn't be happier. From the detailed quote, to the responsive office staff (Amy and Sophia), to the onsite crew led by Ernesto, and even the owner, John, who showed up both days to bring some components and chat with me to ensure my satisfaction, it was a great experience and turned out to be a quality job. My wife and I had spec'd some upper mid-range Owens-Corning asphalt shingles ("Duration Designer" in Sand Dune color), and wanted some quality underlayment and ice and water shield components, and S&S suggested some solid mid-range name-brand products. We also wanted ridge vents installed and our old powered attic vent removed and discarded...and S&S took care of all that for us as part of the overall price. No more running a powered attic fan all summer! Ernesto and his crew did a great job with installation, attention to detail, and the job-site clean up, and did a final walk-around with me before wrapping up on early on the third day. So all in all, it was a great experience, and a great price (we think) for the new roof. We've already had four neighbors ask about the work, and if we'd recommend S&S, and we'd have to say absolutely (and we think the local folks will be using S&S!) I happened to see the instructions Justin left for Ernesto, and they were very specific with overhead photos and diagrams...kinda' like what I would do! I received an inspection of my Roof recently and was looking for a bid to replace or repair it. The inspecting agent told me he would send me a bid via e-mail. I never received it. I called the company again to see if he could send one over, and still no response. I guess when they say call S&S roofing it gets a no response to request for bid or repair. Jim F read more

We paid S and S Roofing to install a new roof in November of 2015. An additional $1,500 was paid to remove all of the extra layers in the roof. A couple weeks later, a portion of the job was still incomplete and we had to repeatedly contact them to get someone to come out to finish the job. 4 months later the job was completed. Now a month later we have an inspector come to the home. The inspector finds excessive amounts of roof debris in the attic. Not just some small pieces that one might expect to see from a roof replacement, but also large boards littering the entire attic. The inspection discovered that the debris had compromised the electrical cords as well as the insulation. We had to call S and S Roofing multiple times to get them on the phone to request that they remedy the situation. Each time getting the response that the person I needed to talk to, Amy, was always on the other line and after leaving multiple messages would still not call back for many hours or days. Their response to the situation was that this debris must have been there the whole time. However, we had an inspection when buying the home that showed no such debris. Their response to the electrical cords being compromised was that "it has been 4 months, if there hasn't been an issue yet, there won't be." They said that debris like this is common after a roof job - but when you pay to have the wood removed from the home, you don't expect it to be dumped back into the attic. This isn't a normal result of a roof replacement, this is unprofessional. We have tried to work with them to remedy the situation, but they sit behind a claim that they are in no way responsible for any issues that arise in the home as a result of the job. They haven't made any attempts to work with us, leaving us no other option but to go to the Better Business Bureau for a fair resolution. Most of us do not check our attic after a roof project, but if you have had your roof replaced by them, I would highly recommend that you check it out. It is likely that they left large amounts of roof material there and it could be jeopardizing your home. We picked them for the job due to their pride in their customer service and claims for "safe installations", but when they dropped the ball, they weren't at all concerned with getting the job done right. read more

Heard an ad on the radio and so I called them. They came out and quoted my roof. Took a couple of days for the quote to come back. I then emailed the guy and told him he was high and that if he wanted a shot at it he would need to sharpen his pencil and requote the roof. After several days I emailed him again and asked him if he was interested in doing the new quote. Said he was very busy and he will get to it. It's now been 2 weeks and still haven't heard from him. I'm not impressed with them. If This is how they are going to treat my quote, imagine my roof. No thanks. read more

They just did my senior neighbors roof. Wbat a scam. Wrong drip edge on the front. Raw wood showing on the front sofit. They told my neighbors that the gutter will hide it. Called for an estimate 2 1/2 weeks ago. Said they could not be here till the 24th at 4pm. I said ok. On the 24th Josh called at 1:15pm saying he could do it now and could I meet him. I said no, I am at work but he could do the estimate then send it to me and call with questions. He said I would have it that night. Friday afternoon and no bid. I called Josh and left a message. 10-28 still no bid. I called their office and was told Josh didn't answer their call and they would find out and let me know. 10-31 still no contact or bid. I called the office again and was told that Josh was behind on paperwork and would have the bid to me by 11-1 morning at the latest. As of today 11-4 evening I still have not received the bid. Nor any contact from Josh or their office. Josh was recommended by friends and this is what I get! I went with another Company and will not recommend S and S Roofing to anyone and tell people of my experience. read more

Had a leaky roof due to low quality chimney flashing. Got 3 estimates, S&S was in the middle, but seemed better quality than the lowest. They were willing to drop the estimated price slightly to meet in the middle. Once I agreed to the price, they had the work done within a week. Most importantly, the work they did seems to be high quality. They suggested installing crickets (not the insects) behind the chimneys, and they matched the shingles well. Leak is gone. I also had them replace a small section of gutter, and they went above and beyond to adjust to some of my needs. Threw in a second downspout at no extra costs. We had S&S install a roof with 30-year shingles 14 1/2 years ago. They failed this winter. We are in need of a new roof again. The first two or three years after installation we also had leaks. S&S was great about coming and repairing them. They must-matched the color of shingle. Nice people, but they chose poor quality products for our home, and we are paying a price for it. read more

After extreme wind damaged our roof we called roofer after roofer and no one called us back. Then we called S & S Roofing. They came over right away to give an estimate, completed the repairs within the time frame promised and for the amount quoted. Paying the bill by phone was easy and receipt/proof of work was emailed immediately. We will definitely use S & S Roofing again, should the need arise. read more

Scheduled an appointment for an estimate. They canceled due to weather, which was fine and appropriate. However, we were headed out of town and we just told them they could go on the roof without us there the next day and they agreed and stated they'd send the estimate via email. Well after no response or email in over 3 weeks I followed up with the company and left a voicemail and never got a response. I finally found the number of the roofer that was supposed to come out and called him. He then preceded to tell me that he did try to call me and leave me messages and I never responded. I informed him that in this day and age that excuse doesn't work. He then gave me an excuse of why he never sent the estimate because he had a simple question for me before he could accurately give me one, which was a lie, it had no bearing on the estimate. Finally, he then tells me most people just want an estimate for a bid and never use them. I explained that insurance was paying for the roof and I didn't get other bids because I just wanted it fixed. He acted like I was making it up. Had he only known that I would've just gone with him since insurance was paying and had he been upfront and honest. When he finally gave me the bid it was an outrageous bid compared to what the insurance figured it should cost around... like $7,000 more! This company is a joke from the beginning to the end! So glad I didn't go to with their services! read more

I wouldn't recommend this company, not because I had bad work done by them, but because I have called and filled out forms on their website to get someone to come out and give me a bid on a new roof and no one calls me back. I can only imagine how hard it would be to get someone out if there was a problem. Don't waste your time with S&S. read more

Called S&S for an estimate for a leak & sky light 9/21, was told would be out Friday 24th no particular time. Thought that was reasonable but called office Fri. morning to get a time frame,woman said 1-2pm. At 2pm called office was told John (the guy on the way says appointment was for 3-4 pm. OK fine. (This is like a two hour job for just the leak which was the priority) The guy climbs up the roof looks for 5min. packs up & says he'll call with the estimate NEXT week! PS its raining..Now next week comes & its Friday a week later I call the office that morning & ask about the estimate they say they'll get John to call..it is now 2:43pm & no call..WELL..Dont Bother your busy self with this & when I think of your ad on tv I'll know what a farce your outfit is.. read more
