I researched driving schools before I selected SPas, After all, I wanted good value for the right price. I found it and I am so glad I signed my son up with Angie. Before the first lesson she explained all about the process and after each lesson she gave me a status on his progress. I would ask my son about his lesson and he was always proud of his accomplishments. She was always on time. I knew i was going to need a school for my 2nd son, in the future. My son learned how to drive safely and how to avoid accidents that others could cause, The Office Manager - Adriana, was more than willing to work with my many schedule changes in a professional and courteous manner. I am a little worried about this driving school and their ability to teach students. I was driving in south Pasadena when one of their cars cut me off while and they were on the phone. I know it was not a student because there was only one person in the car. If this is how an instructor drives I would want to know how they teach the students. I would not recommend this school to parents for their kids to learn. They may become bad drivers. read more

The BEST driving school ever! I went to one before SPDS but I didn't like it. Angie (the instructor) is really nice and patient. She pushes you a lot and that is really helpful. When I started with her I didn't really know how to drive and I was scared. After having plenty of lessons, I am now comfortable. I like how Angie pre-test you before you take the behind the wheel and also show you the route that the dmv takes you on. Oh yea, I also was able to get my LICENSE!!! This was my first driving school and overall a great experience I would recommend that everyone should go with the instructor to the DMV because going with a parent is usually nerve wrecking I had failed the DMV driving test twice but Angie helped me pass the test by being patient and teaching me how to be a safe driver. read more

I was recommended south pass driving school by a friend, and he told me that Angie would be the best teacher I could have. He wasn't wrong. Angie helped me learn how to drive properly and made sure to work on my issues. She is awesome and comfortable to drive with, which is necessary for a instructor to be when teaching a person how to drive. The car they provide has awesome handling and easy to adapt to. First off, I am SO happy my boyfriend found this driving school on yelp!!! Believe me, every penny is worth the driving lessons offered at this school. I have always been a very nervous and anxious person behind the wheel. I use to drive around in my best friends car, but when it came to driving with other people and for the DMV behind the wheel driving exam, I was a nervous wreck. I was beginning to lose hope in passing my exam because I had already failed my behind the wheel TWICE. I had two driving lessons and PASSED with only THREE mistakes on my third try! And I have Angie to greatly thank for that. Thanks to her, I became a much more confident person behind the wheel, less nervous, and became a better driver. Even though I live outside S Pass Driving School area of service, I followed the enthusiastic reviews on yelp and decided to take my lessons with them after all. Now I'm adding my own: the price is fair (definitely on the lower range), the staff is attentive and personable, and my teacher, Nancy J was the best part about it. She was patient and knowledgeable, and was just fun to meet, even at stupid o'clock in the morning. The most telling part, though, was that she knew when I was ready to take the test and encouraged me about it. Other teachers would have milked more lessons from a naturally-insecure student, but Nancy was upright and earnest. I was incredibly impressed with her and would recommend her to anyone venturing on the dubious pleasures of going through the tubes of the DMV. Without a doubt, South Pass Driving School is THE driving school to sign up for. My dad attempted to teach me but driving on the roads with someone anxiously gripping the handle bars and yelling at me was incredibly stressful. I feared driving on the roads and thought it would be a while before I would get my license. But after my first 2 hour driving lesson with Angie, I overcame my initial fears and gained a little more confidence driving on the streets. Angie is clearly experienced and knowledgeable. With her calm demeanor, patience and sense of humor, Angie made me feel comfortable and more at ease. She provided helpful feedback to improve my driving skills. For instance, if I made a jerky left turn at an intersection, she would point it out and we would repeat the turn until my turns were smoother. Over the course of my driving lessons, I noticed gradual improvement in my driving skills. Even my dad who is highly critical was impressed with how much I had improved. To further prepare me for the driving test, Angie administered a practice test to familiarize me with the testing protocol and the general driving course. I would treat her as a DMV test instructor and we would drive through the DMV test route. After the practice test ended, she would review what I did well on and what I needed to work on. We would also drive through parts of the course that I struggled with so I could work on improving in those areas. With Angie's help, I passed my driving test on my first try. I have avoided driving for a very long time due to my fear, however, it was getting very difficult to arrange for transportation to and from locations so I decided to hire a driving school. Before I started lessons with Angie (South Pass Driving), I hired another driving school in Pasadena. My experience with my first driving school was horrible! I had 12 hours with the first school and I was going home feeling like I was not making progress. They scheduled you with different staff, so it was rare you had the same person teaching you how to drive. This lead to many difficulties because every time you started a lesson you had to introduce yourself to the new instructor and tell them what you have been doing, which takes away from the already limited time. I failed my first DMV test with the first company I hired, even though two instructors thought I was ready. After I failed my test, I did some research and decided to change driving schools. This is when I hired Angie. She is amazing!! Within the first ten minutes of my first lesson with her, she was able to point out everything I was doing wrong, which the previous school hadn't noticed because they are too concerned about having you drive their previous client home. With Angie this is not the case. Angie was the total opposite of the first school I hired. Angie was never late, even if it was a 7am lesson. She blocks out the whole lesson for you and doesn't make you pick up or drop off anybody else, thus making it a very personal lesson. She is cheaper then most driving schools and also has more experience then a lot of the other instructors I had. With Angie, she makes it a goal for you to get comfortable and understand what you are doing, even if that involves making you do something over and over again. Angie also pre-test you before your behind-the-wheel test, which actually really helps with your nerves. After Being trained by Angie, I passed my DMV test, and gained a lot more confidence. When looking back at my training experience, I have come to the conclusion that it was all Angie's work that got me my license. The first 12 hours I had with the first company really did not help me at all other then getting to know how their Prius drives. The first company did not prepare me at all and was a big waste of money. Angie was really worth every penny and more! Hiring Angie will be your best choice you can make! She will help you become a safe driver! And especially if your someone like me who is nervous and stubborn, she will defiantly get you out of that phase and you will become more confidant with her help! I cannot say enough about S Pass Driving School. Angie is a consummate professional, holding herself to high standards and giving the customer exactly what she says she will. I hired her for my 22yo daughter who'd not yet been driving. Driving permit was received on Feb 4, and first lesson was the next morning. I paid for 5 two hour lessons and then the special session of of a "test day" lesson and a "practice test" run right before the actual driving test. Angie, Nancy and the office staff were very communicative, honest, friendly and professional. Angie may be nice but she also holds her students to the same high standards she expects from herself. Kind, but firm, friendly but stern if need be. She knows her stuff, knows how to teach, she knows the test, she knows how to prepare her students to be safe drivers on the road. Probably the biggest gift was seeing the confidence, knowledge and skill emerge from my daughter from the first lesson; confidence based on experience and performance, not from false bravado. My daughter said that Nancy was just as great (trained by Angie!) and liked having the opportunity to work with a couple of different people before testing with the DMV. We needed a pass on the first try as a job offer had just been accepted out of state. More importantly, we needed a safe, confident driver! When looking for a driving school, I came across S Pass Driving School on Yelp. I was looking through the page and saw that they had EXCELLENT reviews. So I called up the school, and booked all my lessons and driving exam appointment. Today was the day I passed my driving exam with only 3 mistakes, thanks to Angie! Seriously, if anyone is looking for a driving school for their kids or themselves, DEFINITELY use S Pass Driving School!!!! Not only did they help me pass, they're on top of their service, calling to confirm every appointment. As far as the driving lessons go, Angie makes the experience comfortable and very enjoyable, making it less nerve-wracking. She tells you everything you're doing wrong, and how you can improve on it, but still applauds you when you're doing something right! She takes the time to really evaluate you as a driver, and see what needs to be improved upon as the lessons go on. I really enjoyed all my driving lessons with Angie, she is a very good instructor and prepared me so well for the driving test! I am so excited I passed the test the first time and so did my sister who also used S Pass Driving School! We even practiced a really similar route in the area I was taking the test before so I knew exactly how the test would feel. She was always on time for our lessons and unlike a few other schools I used the lessons were devoted to practicing turns, merging, and driving, rather than picking up or dropping a student and then with the remaining portion of the lesson working on driving. She is very committed to her job and I always felt safe behind the wheel even though I was really nervous in the beginning. I read someone else's comment about how Angie took them in a "quiet neighborhood" and not immediately on the freeway on her first lesson; I think it is important to start in an area where she can properly access your abilities before throwing you on a dangerous highway before you are ready and equipped with the skills to handle such a fast paced environment, where there is no room to make mistakes. The car we used to practice on was always clean and air-conditioned. Many of my friends were, also, taught by Angie and really liked how patient she was and how quickly she told us the mistakes we were making and how to properly fix them. Even though I got my license I plan on taking a few more lessons to become a better, more experienced driver. As we were driving she always pointed out important rules of the road like how to know who has the right of way at a four way stop, when you can make a right on red, or how you must always yield to pedestrians, I always found these tips really helpful and many of the scenarios came up on my driving test. read more

My driving instructor Angie, who I was recommended to me by many of my friends and people in the community, could not have done a better job at teaching me how to drive. She tested me multiple times on the exact path of the DMV that I was testing at, and she showed me not only how to maneuver the streets but how to drive on the freeway and do things that are not tested on the driving exam. She is so incredibly nice, such a pleasure to talk to, and is HILARIOUS! She is straightforward, honest, sweet, and professional, and I highly recommend her to everybody.
