I found this place through Groupon, and I am happy I did. They atmosphere is super fun and inviting when you walk in. They offer you something to drink when you walk in, complementary of charge. They have a wide selection of drinks, including wine, coffee, and tea. I received two gel manicures, and both of the nail beauticians were friendly and did a wonderful job. The manicure lasted two weeks, and I got many compliments. They seem to always have some sort of deal going on also, so their manicure price is reasonable and affordable. Their other services also looked inviting, including their hair salon and massage. I also got my eyebrows done, and they did a good job. Another great thing is they open late, so it's convenient. I stumbled upon this place because I used to live down the street from them. I was looking for someone to do my eyebrows so I walked in and asked them if they did that and they said yes. I ended up meeting this wonderful woman named Tania who did the most amazing job on my eyebrows. I'm literally never letting anyone else touch them. The place I went to before was " The Brow shoppe " down the street, and you'd think since that's the ONLY thing they do, that they would be amazing at it right??? The Brow Shoppe wasn't awful, but they were not nearly as good as Tania! S salon also offers a more competitive price for this service. It's really important to me that my brows look good because I am a photographer and I photograph a lot of formal events, so I need to look my best and i have a lot of trust in Tania at the S salon to help me with that. Extremely generous staff who offered me drinks and snacks. My manicurist, Shelly was extremely helpful and gentle, she did a good job with my gel manicure. Owners were super nice but overall doesn't help with the whole experience. We came in after hearing about the 3 for $45 gel manicure deal. We made an appointment for the 3 of us, but there were only 2 nail techs which was fine. Nail polish selection was alright, but hard to tell if tools were entirely sanitary. One nail tech started on me and was very friendly but spent more time talking to me rather than doing my nails. She wasn't particularly great and could not even shape my nails well. Overall, just the prep for gel nails took her around 45 minutes. By this time, my other friend had gotten her gel manicure started. There was only one UV machine and we had to wait for her to finish. Her tech was thorough, but a bit too thorough, taking 1.5 hours to do 1 gel manicure. When we told her, me and my other friend just wanted to do regular manicures to save time, she rolled her eyes and said that typical gel manicures took an hour and a half and that we should know that. The owners were very nice and scrambled to find another UV Light machine but 2 hours for 3 simple manicures from untalented techs was too much. read more

I'm very disappointed with the whole experience. I walked in and they were nice. I went for a gel manicure and they had maybe 10 color options. I chose the teal. I decided as they removed the polish since it takes time I'll do a polish change in the meantime. The feet came out good. We started the hands and the machine wasn't drying the nails, so she kept trying and wasted more time. She told the owners and they stated it has never happened that could be the polish. They said I could come back for free, but I wouldn't waste my time again. Never had an issue doing nails. They didn't even add oil after being done or even clean the sides correctly. Wasn't going to write a review....but then my gel nail chipped within one day of the manicure. Let me start with Groupon users beware, owner is a bit strange about use of Groupon. By strange I mean she asked for the voucher number before I got there and then after the service was highly concerned about how much I had paid for the Groupon. This is the part I did not understand since the company is obviously the one who put it. She then "claimed" I paid 25% less on the Groupon. No idea as to why this mattered. Besides that strange interaction, I asked if they removed the gel dip powder. She said yes and that it would be an additional $5 (cash only). This was ok, however it was a complete lie. Not only did she lie about knowing how to remove this but she also claimed that she applied dip powder. There was no dip powder anywhere in the store nor the tools to do it. Long story short, it took over an hour (yes an hour) to remove the dip powder. The owner kept checking an eye on the manicurist wondering why she was taking so long but it was clear she did not know how to do this! Once we finally finished the owner then said and I quote "that took so long we should charge more for it!" I almost lost it at this point but just paid her and left. I do not appreciate business doing everything they can (even lie) to make a quick buck. Also in this day in age why are they cash only. Poor management. The manicurist was nice enough, however my index finger did chip within one day. Not sure if it was the technique or the product but this should definitely not happen and it is not ok. They were nice when I first walked in, offering something to drink and even a few bites. However, this does not make up for poor business practices. read more

I found this gem on a whim. I was having horrible pain in my lower neck and upper back. So I went on Groupon to look for a deal with a massage and hope that someone had an opening today... on a Saturday!!! Usually not the case. I got lucky the second I called S Salon. I explained to them the Groupon and immediately Esther asked me about what massage I was looking into. If for slimming, relaxation, or just a particular area. I told her about my pain and explained in detail the massage that best worked for me. But that either way I would still be able to talk to my masseuse to see what I liked. I got there and from the second I got there I was greeted by the owners. Who are just so kind and a breath of fresh air. The salon smelled amazing, the decor fresh and lively. The atmosphere was overall great. Juan Carlos offered me wine and both owners came up to let me know that my masseuse was running just a few minutes behind in her other appointment. They apologized and were so nice about it. I sipped wine and was able to talk to Esther about hair products. Very insightful. I really feel like I didn't wait long. I was just happy I was able to squeeze in on a Saturday lol. I felt so welcomed and at ease. Now to the massage part. This is the scary part for me. Because I'm so picky about things like this. BUT it was an amazing experience. The bed they used was soft and comfortable. The second I laid down I felt relaxed with the ambient music. So before Clara started the massage we talked about the pain I was feeling and suggested the massage geared towards my upper back with paraffin. I had HUGE knots on my lower neck. She really got in there to get rid of that. Asked my comfort level. Also before we started I inhaled an incredible lavender aromatherapy. I felt so at ease that I feel asleep. Never been able to fall asleep during a massage until NOW. I will definetly be coming back. I REALLY hope I got my masseuse name's right. Clara was amazing! The whole staff was so kind and welcoming. I had a 12:30 appointment for me and a friend. First off there was only one technician there and the second never showed so my friend never got her nails done. As for my nails it was the worst and most stressful experience I've ever had at a salon. I was there for 2 1/2 hours to get a dip manicure and pedicure. They used the same tools for my hands as they did after doing my toes. The dip powder that was used was cheap and ended up not even totally covering my nail. In addition to this I was repeatedly hit with the electric file I was surprised I wasn't bleeding by the time I left. The technician also filed off too much in many places ended in my nails being different shades of the color. Overall a terrible experience save your time and go somewhere else. read more

I politely wait for them to apologize for the misunderstanding, but I won't be doing business there, and before I could even offer to pay for the wine, the owner says to me and I quote " this is Merrick park, we are not a cheap salon. This isn't a cheap salon." I would like to say your unprofessional and disrespectful attitude may be the reason why out of the 4 salons on the same block yours was the empty one. NOT TO MENTION THAT ONE OF THOSE SALONS CHARGEs $25 FOR A GEL MANI AND SPA PEDI.THEY HAVE MORE VARIETY, SAME AND MORE BRANDS OF NAIL POLISHES AND COLORS. I had to get my nails done last minute for an event and they were very accommodating. The person did my nails spoke only Spanish, but she was nice. The owners were very friendly and interested in providing good customer service. I was disappointed that I didn't get a mini foot and hand massage, also they ran out of the quick drying oil spray, but my regular mani and pedi stayed nice for over a week, which doesn't happen often. Now I'm impressed to try it again. They do charge a 5% fee if you pay with a credit card; not a common thing, but I'm willing to overlook it if the service is excellent. read more

I used to go there to get my manicure done. The stuff was really nice, specially Esther and Juan and my nails looked incredible! After going there for a while, I decided to get my hair bleached and dyed and they really messed it up. They didn't only burned and destroyed my hair, but they ruined my color too. They bleached really bad all of my hair but a layer on the top. Then they styled it and gave me an special price. Since my hair was styled, it looked amazing and I loved it. The next day my little sister told me that my hair was awful, so I asked my mom and a friend and they both agreed. We called to ask for a refund so that I could go to another salon to get it fix and they told me that they didn't give refunds, so I had my mom call. The next day I called again and the conversations didn't go well, I am not going to get into details because it could make the salon look even worse and the owners were really nice to me before all of this. But we got threatened, they told my mom that if she goes there, they were going to kick her ass because one of the workers is a black belt in karate or judo, yes, stupid and unprofessional. But doesn't matter. The day after that my mom and I went to the salon and there was an ambulance at the door. We let the doctors walk out with the stretcher and when we were going to get in, one of the owners pushed my mom and kept walking, so my mom said that she was going to call the police, but she wasn't serious and the other owner shouted things like "get out of here you fucking bitch! My wife is having a heart attack!" But she was walking, so I don't know what to think, but at the end the police got involved Thank God I recovered $165 which was the part that I paid by card, not a full refund. My three friends and I each bought a Groupon for a gel manicure and we left very dissatisfied. Although the customer service was great and the staff was very friendly, the manicures were very sloppy. You could tell that they didn't paint the whole nail, some had bubbles and they didn't clean up very well. My gel manicure which is supposed to last for two weeks started to peel the next day. My friends manicure was a light pink and it turned almost white. I've called 4 times to have them remove the polish but all I get is a voicemail. No wait. but they could up their game on the mani pedis. the massage chairs were great. they seemed to lack the right equipment for a standard pedicure. all they had to scrub my feet and remove callouses was a pumice stone. when i pay $30 for a pedicure a lone i expect more than the standard pumice stone i can use in the shower. i felt my pedicrurist was very nice and tried her best but they seem to like the right equipment. this was confirmed when the nail polish i initially chose came on streaky and clumping causing me to chose a different color for my hands. read more

Extremely unprofessional customer service by whoever the "gentlemen" with broken English answers their phone. I called and asked very politely ahead of the week if I could be seen either Thursday or Friday before my Vegas trip for a "One Acrylic Manicure" service they posted on Groupon for which I had already purchased the service for. Before even being asked for my name, he immediately asked if I had already bought a Groupon or not, as if it made a difference on the quality of service or any service I could have potentially gotten. Not only was he on the verge of setting my appointment but he proceeded to tell me that I could not be seen for what I payed for!! That it was "color only no tip, your nail no extension" I insisted that is not what acrylic is and insisted to speak with a manager who knew what that meant. After waiting on hold for a while, a lady answered the phone and told me she would call me back later... Definitely a slap to the face and a horrible customer service experience before stepping foot into their store even after I had already PAYED to be seen! Seems like the type of salon that ruins your manicure and would blame it on anything else but their lack of professionalism. Paying customers should never have to deal with that type of attitude.
