First time, there people were super friendly customers were great and the owner was a very nice guy. I would recommend this place anytime.

When I moved out to the area I happened to see there was a lounge nearby. I let the owner know that I suffer from PPPD and PTSD. He asked what does this entail which I explained to him that hat can happen. He respected it at first. I have PPPD and PTSD. The reason I deleted my original 5 star review. I'm leaving a 1 star is for several reasons. 1. - My first time there I saw his hand gun laying on the table. Sometimes it would be unattended, which is a concern of mine as anyone could grab it and things could go south fast. 2. - As a paying customer myself I used the washroom times I'm there like anyone else. I am use to self closing toilet seats and out of habit I closed theirs. It slammed down which isn't what I was expecting to have happen. As I exited the bathroom Jack the owner asked me if I broke his toilet seat. He got upset with me that I put it down and demanded I go back and lift the seat as there's no females in there at that time. (I didn't). He then went into the bathroom and lifted it himself. He came out and gave me a hard time about it saying he just replaced the seat in front of other customers. 3. - I always felt like I had to ask for a drink and of course I'd pay for it. Others that were there would go back and grab their drinks as they pleased. I was always told I have to ask and he will provide. I felt as if there were given rules applied to some but not others. 4. - The ventilation wouldn't be on most of the time. If I asked for Jack to turn it on he would respond saying it's a cigar lounge what do you expect. However, if a regular came with his other half he would turn it in for them. 5.- I've met some cool people there in which I've texted saying I was heading up there. I told Jack so and so is coming and he would act shocked that I'm friends with some of those people, as if I wasn't allowed to befriends with people he knew based on his responses when I told him. 6. - The coat rack is by the front door by a tree plant. I accidentally put my jacket on the rack and nudged the plant. He said loudly what are you doing watch out for the tree plant... Everyone would look at me and it would be embarrassing. 7.- Some cigars ash faster than others. I would be enjoying a cigar and I would ash in the trey. Sometimes the ash would fall on the floor or table which is an accident. He would be loud about it saying what the heck! I just vacuumed the place and cleaned the tables. I would apologize however, he would then go ahead and ensure everyone knew about the situation. I don't understand why it was a topic to talk about however, it would be known. He would also bring out the vacuum to clean everything up right away and ensure you knew that shouldn't happen. (It's a cigar lounge what do you expect). Upon checkout he was motioning his hand near waste line up and down motion and said - relax, calm down your always taking people coming at you for nothing... 8. - Prices are higher than other places. However didn't mind spending the extra money at this place before all this nonsense started. 9. If I took a phone call he would ask who is it as if we're friends... However, if I did the same back I was told to mind my business. 10. Jack was having a discussion with a lady (regular) when she was trying to explain herself, Jack said in front of others there that she's arguing with him. He said Argue, Argue, Argue. She stood up for herself saying we're having a discussion and it's my opinion about it. 11. Some customers in the lounge we're having issues with the cigars being packed too hard. I offered a tool I had with me to them. I told them I bought it off Amazon. Later after those customers left, Jack drilled me about saying where I bought it from and the cost of it because he bought it for his customers that I was speaking to as if I should have known... The last time I was there he got mad at me for something to which I kept enjoying my cigar. When a female regular came in he then proceeded to tell her what happened between me and him as if it was anyone's business. He told her her version, I went ahead and said my version. His response was I can't help people who have problems! Later he apologized for his actions however this was my last straw... I've had enough. Whether someone is having a good day or bad as a customer coming there to spend money no one should be treated this way. Friends or not same thing. I've spent hundreds of dollars there and due to everything mentioned I won't go back. read more

Nice selection, but no customer service. Went into the humidor and spent about 20 minutes looking at the cigars and decided to buy a few 8-5-8's to enjoy. The person in the shop was busy watching tv and smoking. No greeting, and never once asking if they could assist. The only communication was to ask how to pay and if I wanted a bag. Paying a little higher price would be fine if the customer service was present. read more

I stopped by S.T. Cigars a couple years ago. I didn't know anything about cigars or smoking them. Jack greeted me with a smile and a handshake. Since that day, I've frequented S.T. Cigars every Friday and know most of his regular patrons. I've never been let down with the cigar or a relaxing chat. Jack is both knowledgeable and funny. His humidor is kept absolutely spotless. I've since moved to Dallas and haven't found a humidor as well kept or stocked. I also miss the friendships I've established as well as Jack's generosity and big smile. That guy, Tim C. Stay in Chicago and choke on your smokes. You're the kind of idiot most shop owners don't want spoiling the good time. I miss those guys and that comfortable shop. read more

This cigar shop is awesome! Ironically I didn't know or pay attention this place was there until I ran a search to see what cigar shops were in the area. This one came up and is very close to where I live; so I checked it out and it's now been exactly one year I've been coming here. The scenery is great and Jack the owner has a great selection of cigars and he gets new ones in once in awhile. He also holds cigar events where different cigar reps. will come and sample their cigars and raffle off prizes. You can also find a great selection of cigarettes at better prices in town! I also happen to be a good friend of the owner Jack and always come in to smoke a good quality cigar. So I would definitely recommend this shop to any tobacco enthusiast! We came to Carpentersville in 2016 I needed a new Cigar shop (or a cigar shop) I had just picked up smoking cigaes in like 2014 but really wanted to get into it. Since I moved out this way this was the first place in the area that comes up and I am glad it does. Jack is awesome and super helpful when it comes to anything. He has vendors come in often and awesome deals and free stuff so keep your eye out! I know my stuff pretty well now and know what I like. He has it all ive never been let down. I have also sat in and just hung out with some others and never had a bad time. Some of the best nights ive had were at his shop. Always good people, good vibes, and hell good cigars. If you purchase cigars that day and ask he'll let you have a few drinks while you hang out. Obviously be very respectful when it comes to that and ask him first. Anywho love this place, it is my go to cigar shop and will be as long as i am in this area. read more

I found S T Cigars after searching for a local store - I read a few reviews about how helpful the owner was and decided to give it a try. I don't smoke and know nothing about cigars. I needed help in selecting a few birthday cigars for my son-in-law. The owner greeted me promptly and asked several questions before showing several selections that filled my request perfectly! He did not try to oversell and kept me 100% within my requested budget. He also included a humidipack at no charge after telling him I would not be delivering the cigars until next week. Price of cigars here is average, not too high not exceptionally low. My biggest beef with this place is the operating conditions of the walk in humidor. Immediately upon entering the w/i humidor it is readily apparent that it is exceedingly humid, they have a humidifier running each time I've been there. After getting my cigars home, I felt like I could literally ring the moisture out of it. My second complaint, and this is the bigger one - is that they keep the Acid cigars in the same humidor as the rest. This is a major NO NO for cigar storage. The oils and spices Drew Estate uses when making Acid cigars severely affects the taste of other non-Acid cigars. Needless to say, they do not play well with others. In fact, I've seen Acid stored with other cigars at numerous other places - and it usually denotes an amateur operation. Another good way to test to see if you are dealing with someone who knows what they are talking about, pick up a large 8 inch cigar and ask them how long they'd think it would take to smoke. Any answer less than an hour and a half means they are pulling it out of their ass. You might as well go to a gas station for a cigar if you're planning on shopping here - you'll pay less for the cigar for the quality - or lack there of - that you'll be receiving. read more

Came in to see if I could get a gift set for one of my friends coming up for the holidays, so I stopped here for convenience. I have lived in Carpentersville quite awhile and never really noticed the shop until now. It's a small place next to the subway. I walked in and talked to the owner about what I was looking for, and he was really nice and helped me out. Even though I've smoked a cigar before (and its been years), I only knew basic stuff, so he was more than willing to help me out with selections and brands. Helped me select a cutter, lighter, and portable humidor box, which was perfect for my friend who is in the military. All that plus 5 cigars (and one free for me) for about $95. Which I must say was a good fair price. Like I said before, the owner is very nice and will work prices with you. They also have more of the nicer torch lighters and cutters, which are obviously pricier but he can shave a few bucks off. They also have some hookahs, flavored tobacco, lighters, and pipes. If your looking for something in particular and they don't have it, he can order it for you. He has a nice selection of cigars in the walk-in humidor. They also have hookah events on Friday and Saturday evenings. They also close at midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, which I think might be just for the holidays but I'm not sure. Anyways, nice small friendly environment, fair prices, good selection, will definitely be coming back. read more

This place was recommended to me by a family friend and I'm glad he did. Place is small but very comfortable and has a nice feel to it. There is a nice selection of cigars among other things (vapes, glass, lighters, cutters, etc.) and the owner (Jack) was an extremely nice guy. I do not know much about cigars, usually just smoke them when one of my buddies pulls some out. Jack took the time to explain the differences, tastes, brands, and gave great recommendations. He could have easily just stayed put and let me wonder around trying to figure out what to buy but he helped me out and was very informed. S T Cigars is a nice cozy place to smoke with a decent cigar selection. Jack, the owner and a friendly guy, has been in business since the 90's. That pretty much says "experienced" right there. He does keep some vintage cigars on the top shelf, or in his locked cabinet inside the walk-in humidor. You won't know until you ask. The prices for the stogies are pretty much average. Not expensive, but not overly cheap either. The walk-in humidor is kept at perfect humidity as Jack himself is meticulous about these things. I can't really say much why one "reviewer" would say that it was exceedingly humid. The "reviewer" added that he could literally ring the moisture out of the cigars he purchased. I've been an avid cigar smoker since the mid 90's. I've never purchased or experienced smoking any over or under humidified cigars from this place, and I too am anal about the condition of my cigars. Could it be that he was just perspiring too much the day he walked inside Jack's walk-in humidor? As far as keeping Acids with the rest of the cigars, the reviewer raises a valid argument and concern. Cigars are like sponges. They will absorb anything being infused to them, internally or externally. Putting Acids in their own boxes not only prevent the aromas from the oils and spices that may affect other unflavored cigars, but also enhances the aroma of said Acid cigars when it is kept in its own box. However, current Acid cigars are also kept in cellos which somewhat minimizes the emission of their aroma. Have you ever heard anyone complaining about Acid smell inside the walk-in humidor? I didn't think so. Maybe said reviewer should just go to a gas station for his cigars. I heard they are having a sale on White Owls, El Productos, and Swisher Sweets at the corner gas station. Time to stock up!!! As to the question of how long will it take to smoke an 8 inch cigar is concerned, to respond that any answer less than an hour and a half means one is pulling it out of their ass, it is BOGUS! The correct response to that is it is totally SUBJECTIVE! It depends on how fast a "puffer" that smoker is. I have a friend who can smoke a double corona (7.25 x 52) in LESS THAN 40 minutes, timed (and that's no bull). My friend is always on hyper drive when he smokes. On the other hand, I tend to take my time and polish off a double corona in over 2 hours. Again, time element in smoking, much like taste, is SUBJECTIVE!!! Overall, S T Cigars is a great place to smoke. It's cozy and has a nice decent selection of stogies and other smoking paraphernalia. The owner and staff are accommodating, prices are average, and the people who gather there to smoke are diverse and friendly. The only drawback I can find is that there are only four (4) "comfortable" leather lounge chairs for use. It would be great if they had more lounge chairs in place of those regular chairs [and tables]. read more
