I just happened to see Mr. Cressey's trailer parked somewhere, and got the number from that. His estimate was quick (within 7 days of initial contact), which is not always the case, and was in line with the other quotes I had gotten. I had already pretty much decided I wanted to go with Mitsubishi because of my research, and the recommendations of others. The reasons I went with Cressy were: a) he is a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor, I'll talk more about that later on. b) He is a Master Electrician, so I was reasonably sure that the installation would be professional, and c) I just felt his honesty right away. Being a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor means several things. a) he gets put at the head of the line for supplies. b) he does all the registration of warranty and everything himself, which saves me the trouble. c) he gets an extra 2-years on the factory warranty. He installed everything himself, with one helper, he cleaned everything up to where it was before he came into the house, and he finished the installation within the timeframe promised. All in all, very happy with him, and I would recommend him eagerly.

They immediately responded and cleared the blockage. They also evaluated the problem with the chimney and the chimney on our building next door - both buildings dating back to 1860 and needing repair. They failed at every turn…read more Preface- I'm sure the installer will deny this happened the way it did because they maintain they did a great job and went "above and beyond". This is simply not true and you can see from the photos how poor their work is. We are on the third home we've owned together. We've gutted homes, we've installed fireplaces, we've dealt with really hard situations. This is by far the worst install of any product by any company I have ever experienced. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. We hired the Heart Doctor to install a Renaissance 600 fireplace which (by our standards) is pretty hefty, pricy, and kinda fancy. At every stage this install was botched. The company compromised my family's safety by not installing a radiation shield around the chimney pipe and told me I should stuff insulation directly up against the pipe- something the manufacturer expressly told us was a fire hazard. They denied this needed to be fixed until I contacted the fireplace manufacturer and they relented to fix it. This meant uninstalling the entire chimney which at that point was already bracketed into our house, two stories up. Since their fire safety was so lacking I had to request that they bring someone from Embers to supervise the final install. This job was quoted as taking 2 days- it took about 3.5 months. Hearth Doctor repeatedly told my contractor different information that lead to multiple delays. They mis-measured the height of the space needed to install the fireplace. And while they paid for the added work the contractor did, they continued to make tactical, logistical and communication errors that lead to repeated delays, mistakes, and sloppy work. After the contractor built a doghouse off of our home to house the fireplace, they had to rebuild the roof numerous times. Hearth Doctor claimed we didn't need certain vents which were essential to the function of the fireplace. The manufacturer verified we absolutely did. They installed the unit with a broken door and then when they promised to replace the door, just crudely bent the keyhole that allowed it to open. They have no attention to detail, no attention to aesthetics and absolutely no customer service. The final insult was when my contractor was measuring to do finishing work, he realized the whole unit is OFF-LEVEL front to back and side to side by 1/4" in each direction. This makes putting a wall over it almost impossible to look good. All in all they came to our six times between June and September- an absolute disaster. Throughout the process I never received any apologies or accountability from anyone at the company. Rob and Will brushed off my asking for a reduction on the final invoice by saying "Our goal has always been to provide you with a safe, functional, and professional installation, and we've done our best to stand behind our work--even when it meant going above and beyond what was originally contracted." If this is what "above and beyond" looks like then I must need my head readjusted. Happy to share photos to show you what the Hearth Doctor's best work looks like folks- it is just an abomination. This company is a danger to themselves and to others and I feel absolutely compelled to speak out about their work to save others from hiring them. At all costs look elsewhere.

Pluss, they started out quoting an hourly rate which washigh but we agreed. After about 6 months they decided they wanted to charge by the job, which basically doubled their fee for no additional benefit. They cited a formula based on number of rooms, children, pets and other conditions that didn't apply. Don't expect the initial good service and rates to last.

At least one person on the team has been here before and knows the house. They have good people skills and aim to please. Before hiring them I shopped around a little, and found their prices to be very reasonable. They do a good job cleaning. They express openness to special requests, though I haven't taken them up on that so far. It's a wonderful feeling to step into a clean house after a long day at work.

Connie spent the time necessary with my wife/designer to understand the color scheme and help select a couple remnants that might work. Other shops were only interested in selling a much larger minimum quantity. There is a good reason for that of course, because once the shop cuts a piece they are stuck with the left over. The difference Mark and Connie made was willingness to take the time for a smaller order and cull through their remnents. We were lucky in that there was a really great peice available. It wasn't what we started looking for but that is where the time Connie put in to understand the color scheme paid off; the piece available works perfectly with the natural custom ash cabinets and the tile we selected. Mark and Connie communicated all throught the process. Of course everyone wants to be first in line. Mark and Connie kept to all of their appointments and didn't slip any dates. At the end, the install went without a hitch, and the vanity top came out fantastic. Not only are Mark and Connie a delight to interact and work with, we feel like we got top notch service and an excellant value. I couldn't recommend them any more strongly if you are in the market for stone surfaces.
