We were trying to donate an old car that had been sitting for a while in the garage. It was parked near a wall, so it was not easy to just tow it out without risking damage to the car or the garage. Eddie's team, including Evelyn and Mario, were fantastic. They came back out with extra help to jack up the car and safely push it out to then be towed. Workers don't have word. Their word isn't worth anything. They quoted me around 4-5 hundred for my vehicle. When it came down to it they offered way less. A number not even close to 4 or 5 hundred. With all information of my vehicle given to them from beginning the same. As always they begin to blame others like their " manager " who obviously very convenient was not there and didn't know when he'd arrive. Don't waste your time here. few days ago I had the most pleasant experience dealing with the general manager, Eddie V at the SA Recycling in Sun Valley Ca. I wanted to recycle my 1996 Chevy through the Calif Bureau of Automotive Repair program (BAR). The problem was that my driver license name which was on the BAR letter and the car title name did not match. I got into deep bureaucracy issue related to a DMV error that could have taken days or even weeks to resolve. Eddie was so patient to sit down with me for almost an hour and discuss my options. with these at hand, I went to the DMV and resolved the problem that day knowing exactly what to say and do. I have never dealt with such a nice general manager before. Thanks Eddie!!! read more

We scheduled an appointment with SA Recycling to come purchase and pick up our totaled car from an impound lot. Waited an hour and a half only to find out they had forgotten about our appointment. They neglected to bring payment with them when they finally showed up, and we had to trek 20 minutes away to their facilities to collect payment. Very disappointed. read more

Chepe Gomez is one of the best spotters. He has been helping me with backing up my trailer in super tight spaces. He always comes in klutch. If you need a spotter while backing he Is your guy. He also has experience with tractor trailers. I've always had a smooth time here at the SA Recycling at the tujunga location. Great people all around. Even through the added stress of the construction happening out front. The brother Chepe well versed here at this location and you will never have any issue trying to get in with his help. Came here with my friend Dan to give away his corolla for retirement. His car didn't pass the smog check and the smog master advised him to visit Bureau of Automotive Repair web site with detailed information about vehicle retirement. He sent a letter almost two months ago and recently he got an answer that he can bring his car to the one of the recycling station. So here we are, filling the application and waiting for further moves. The manager here is friendly and polite. We need to wait some time because it's a little line, but everything goes well so far. read more

This place is a great place to recycle anything. From your plastic bottles and cans to your household refrigerator. They also purchase small to large amount of different types of metals. If you can bring your old fridge, bring it. Why give it to the city to pick it up? Make some $$!!! Also, they have high paying prices. I did my calling around. Plus, they are very professional. They offer cold bottle water to their customers! and they have donuts in the morning! in a fancy display!!! Its a nice +++, they really care about their customers. I know its a dirty place but what recycling center would be clorox spotless? Not a metal recycling place!!! They are busy for a reason, they take care of their customers. I asked the girl at the window, apparently California has a vehicle retirement program (that i was unaware of), the State partnered up with some recycling centers to recycle your old "smog producing" car! This place gets a high review because they helped me do exactly what I needed with no hassle. A nice employee there even gave me and my friend bottles of water while we waited! I took my car here to retire it under the Consumer Assistance Program. In my case, this was a program where the government gives money to people to turn in their older cars. All I had to do was go up to the window to check in, fill out some forms and present my ID and documentation, and then pull my car into line to go on the scale. Then one of their employees drove off with it. What a sad day that was. However, they cut me a check right then and there and then I was on my very way. The only downside here are that I had to wait around for a while as paperwork was being processed. However, I got everything I needed without any hassle, and they even did me a favor photocopied one of my mail-in documents for me to keep for my records without any questions. The location is decent as well, because it is not far from Burbank, Glendale, or anywhere in the valley. It is in an industrial area full of scrap yards and broken roads, so don't drive your nice car there if you can avoid it. Overall, I got what I needed here and even got some water from them to help cope with the heat from a warm summer's day, so I give this place a positive review. Good place to retire your clunker car. read more

The facility is generally clean and well run (for a recycling center), and they gave me a crapload of dinero the first time I took my recycling there, a little over a year ago. We took it again a week or two ago, and apparently they don't accept many kinds of glass and plastic, which I'm almost SURE they did before. I returned home with a few bags of recycling stuff that they didn't accept. I'm not sure I'll visit them next time. I got about $60 for a car full of plastic and a car battery. Next time, I'll probably visit a recycling center like the one next to Ralphs (on Central in Glendale). It just seems more reliable when you can do it yourself, because I've been to numerous centers where they literally trick you and give you less money. It's not the money, it's really the principal of the thing. Anywho, if they started accepting all types of glass/plastic, then I would return here, but otherwise, probably not. read more

Was at SA Recycling this morning on the non-ferrous side! Dragged my cart to the three empty unattended scales. Waited several minutes, no scale operator acknowledged my presence! Two workers were sorting materials while a third was texting while sitting by the soda machine! No other person their to help me check out!! I finally decided they did not want my business so I dragged my materials away! Went to A STAR RECYCLING, they at least were interested in my business!! If you want to be treated like a second class citizen go to SA RECYCLING!!!! read more

Kind & patient on the phone, easy and efficient on location. The whole transaction of retiring a car took about 1 hour from driving in to receiving a check. Impressive for a government run BAR/CAP program. Very hot in August, take much cool water and a hat. Edit: THEY REALLY HAD THE AUDACITY TO TRY AND RESCHEDULE ME AGAIN WTF. Worst place I've ever had to do business . I am donating my car to Kars4Kids. This SA Recycling place was supposed to pick up my car on Monday at 11...then they made a mistake schedule wise and said we'll be there at 1...it's 1:45 and they haven called me so I call them and guess what...sorry he's running late they will be there at 2:40 to 3. UMMM NO. I've practically wasted half my day waiting on them. So I reschedule for today 2/16/17 at 11. Knowing the bs I went through on Monday I call them at 10:45 to make sure my car will be picked up. I'm put on hold for 7 1/2 minutes until I can finally ask my question. The lady doesn't understand me so I'm put on hold again for another 3 min. Then Diego answers and asks me the same thing I just asked. I tell him the same thing he tells me to hold. Then ANOTHER lady answers my held call and puts me on hold AGAIN. Finally, Alejandra picks up the phone and helps me it keeps me on the line while she figures my situation out. And says that yes I'm scheduled and my driver will call me soon (we'll see about that, Monday deja vu). Kars4Kids needs to find a better recycling place bc this place is RIDICULOUS!!!!! read more

I took 50 cans, 50 bottles and 50 plastics plus other items to recycle. The parking lot spaces were full of glass and debri. Had to wait, even though the place was not busy. I asked for the 5 cent CRV and it was ignored, the employee went to my trunk and pulled out other plastics to add to the 50 he threw in a bin. Waited long time again. Then he took them up front and said he would be right back. I stood in the hot sun for about 30 minutes, he had disappeared. The place was like a ghost town. So I had to take the bins and dump them back into my trunk and leave. Since this experience I have been told that this is a bad area in town. Don't go there. I had other errands to run but did not have time after this. read more

I took a car here to be retired until the Consumer Assistance Program (CAP). There was only one employee working that area and about 4 other parties waiting. He was very courteous and helpful and there was a patio set waiting area. Overall it took about an hour to get everything done which wasn't too bad. You get your check right there and you're on your way. read more

This is probably one of the best recycling place in the valley. Very convenient and helpful folks. I have one big advise, if you show up with an assortment of different metals, you will end up getting paid the tin price, which is the cheapest amount you will get. I suggest separating your metals, and bring them in separately. That way you get a better payment. I made the mistake of bringing my appliances with my other heavy irons and got screwed. Not their fault, that is how they weigh you on the way in and out. Other than that, they are making money but are helping you at the same time! read more

Don't trust these guys. Was given a quote on my car for $250 to be junked/salvaged from the manager Eddie. Tried to arrange a pick-up but said he couldn't do it that day. Tried three more times, over the next three days, to contact him for pick-up, to no avail. When I finally got through to another person, they said they could only give me $175 because the rates on metal went down. They screwed me over a measly $75. I agree with Garrett R, don't do business with these people! read more
