I really want to like this spot but they just continue to drop the ball. The first time we visited the service was painfully slow, to the point where we had to ask for our order to go. On top of this we were double charged for the mandatory large person service fee. The second time we opted for take out and the food was fine until we got to our spicy stir-fry with beef, something in the dish was rancid or spoiled. Appetite lost, absolutely disgusting, we could smell it as soon as we opened the container. Completely unacceptable. 0 for 2, unfortunately we won't be back. read more

- Big lot with ample parking - Our takeout order was ready quickly, in about 20 minutes, instead of the 35+ as quoted online - We split the appetizer sampler - I love this option as it's often hard for me to choose from all my app favorites at a Thai restaurant! It felt like not a ton of food though- I wish the quantities provided of the fresh rolls and a couple other things were increased. - My friend got the sliced beef salad, which came out spicy even though he asked for little to no spice when ordering. The portion was also pretty small for the price. - The food was fresh and tasty, and I appreciated that they provided both a thick paste peanut sauce and a thinner, more oily peanut sauce to dip all the apps (most likely they were for the fresh rolls) in. - Weird comment but their takeout bags are such nice quality and feel like a high end shopping bag - I felt very fancy walking through the brewery I brought my order to with this in hand! read more

I had not been to Sa-Tang in a long while....I don't know why.... The food and the service were excellent. I had the spicy beef salad and my husband got the chicken Pad Thai. Both were really good. The salad was not big but very flavorful. The beef pieces were tender and well marinated. The chicken Pad Thai had a stronger fish sauce flavor than other Thai restaurants, so it tasted a bit smokier, but it was delicious. Overall a great place for great Thai food. read more

One summer day, we are again in one of our favorite summer spots in the northeast. We were craving for Asian dish and we ended up on this place. The location is kinda nice... not too busy yet easily accessible. Prior to this, we stopped by a WW2 musesum nearby and tha place has a lot of authentic items. Going back to this restaurant, we ordered dishes we are familiar with and it was good. The lady also helped us with the choices. The dishes were served in a very timely manner and all of us enjoyed it. The kids loved the Thai iced tea and the skewers. I enoyed the pad thai and mango (always). Is this amazing Thai food? Absolutely not. Is it edible Thai food in south county RI? Yeah. There are like 5 other Thai places in the vicinity that serve almost exactly the same type of cuisine, none of it is great. The best Thai place we've found is in westerly, there's also a decent one in Middletown. What really bothered me the most about Sa Tang was that after ordering online, I received an email saying I was charged an extra $1. I asked for extra peanuts on the pad Thai so, this must have been what for. No problem, only when I got to my pad Thai, not only were there no EXTRA peanuts, there were none at all. This really irks me. If you're going to nickel and dime customers, at least include the "extra" item you're charging them for. The one time I went to the restaurant to dine in the drinks were so awful we didn't even finish them. Service was friendly though read more

This place had very good Thai food. We were in the area visiting my aunt and my cousin suggested this for lunch. We started with the summer rolls, which I've also heard called fresh rolls - veggie rolls with a peanut sauce, which was very good. My fiance ordered the Panang Curry and really enjoyed it; I tried it, expecting it to be spicy, but it actually was not. I ordered the Garlic stirfry, and it was good, but I liked the curry better. I saw they had mango sticky rice on the menu for dessert, which is my absolute favorite, and it was really good, with super nice presentation too. This restaurant gets 4/5 from me and not 5/5 because the water refills were a bit slow - our waiter disappeared for a bit too - and prices seemed high, but my guess is that they were on par for the area. I'd still return again though, as the food was good. read more

Friends and I were looking for a last minute change of plans since Mews had a one hour wait. Down the street we saw Sa-Tang and decided to try it. It was empty at 545pm and they asked if we had a reservation. We said no, the host hesitated, and then sat us down. After 15/20 minutes, all the tables around us were fully packed, wow! We ordered the Crispy Pad Thai, Siam Kra Pow, and Chicken Prik Khing. The Chicken Prik Khing was a mixed stir fry. It was pretty spicy. The Siam Kra Pow had the most amount of flavor and spice. The Crispy Pad Thai was the most different. Instead of soft noodles, the whole dish was composed of crispy wonton noodles. It wasn't bad, it was just different from what was expected. For dessert we had Mango Sticky Rice. It was a sweet treat and pretty good! I don't normally eat at Thai restaurants so I have nothing to compare the dishes to. We are big fans of Meldgie's Rivers Edge Cafe so kept seeing this place when we went. It fit the bill perfectly for our last night of vacation after we were all seafooded out. We all got different stuff, various meat and noodle dishes. Fresh and spicy and well made. Also had the appetizer sampler. Place had plenty of seating for our party of 5 at 6:30 on a Friday night. An umami explosion of flavors delivered in such a delicate presentation. Bomb chicken tom yum soup, papaya salad (had to hold the shrimp), and delicious pad thai chicken (combo lunch). Wow, this is the caliber of Thai I have been hunting/waiting for!! After moving from San Diego and being spoiled with a whole mecca of Asian restaurants, I knew it would be hard to find anything remotely close but this is it!! As soon as that savory/tangy tom yum broth hit my lips, I knew it was gonna be heaven. It was a teeny tiny cup of it, but it was the combo portion (had a choice of egg roll, gyoza, soup, and I forget what else). Only had 3 mushrooms and a few pieces of chicken but it sang to my soul. Then the house salad as part of the combo had THE BEST ginger-carrot (maybe?) dressing. I could drink that sh*t up!! Then the papaya salad came out, which I requested to have without the shrimp (yet would still get charged $11.95-same price as my entire meal sadly, but they said they'd add more papaya in place...still, aren't you paying for the shrimp on that cost?! And it's whole shrimp, not just baby dried shrimp but I digress). Papaya salad flavors were on point!! Lots of filler salad on the side, so portion was a bit small. Spice level was perfectly hot--like make your nose sniffle, hot. Yum! And lastly, enter the entree: chicken pad thai. Beautifully and consistently sized crushed peanut topping with a small side of crunchy bean sprouts. I definitely judged it on first look because there were no greens in sight, like some charred green onion, but to my surprise as I ate, they reared their little yummy heads. :) The only thing that could've made it better was like wedge, and I should've ordered some spice level into it but forgot. (was too caught up only $11.95 papaya salad!) Anyway, it was a tremendously satisfying meal. I will be returning either for takeout or dine-in, which was such a nice, clean spot. It's a lot more spacious than it looks from the street! P.S. they must have had at least 3 pages of drinks so I'll have to try one next time too! read more
