Recently moved to the Tukwila Village Senior Living and Saar's is a block away. Been there twice and am impressed with the cleanliness and product stocking. Easy to locate items. They have everything a well advertised grocery store has, and a large selection of foods to satisfy the numerous immigrants in the area. Want to save money, look into their weekly adds and while in store, look for the 5 or 10 pound packages of chicken, beef and pork. Cheaper than purchasing single pound. Highly recommended. read more

This place is extremely cool if you like weird international foods and beverage's. Too bad the staff is the most rude and unfriendly bunch of people I've ever met. With the exception of one older produce employee, older short guy he's nice and will respond like a human to your questions. The others.. oh boy just don't talk to anyone haha it's never been a pleasant experience dealing with the staff. Very rude and simply unprofessional. It's ok not there to talk to the staff here to look at the cool interesting food they have. If you come here, take your time and look around you might need to visit a few times to know where things are but once you don't have to ask for anything from any of the staff members you'll be alright. Had to travel to Saars near the SeaTac to pick up a pork picnic cut. Want to roast the pork Puerto Rican style, (pernil). Went to Safeway, Qfc. And my local Asian store looking for this cut of pork with the skin on with no luck There were several whole ones but all were all over 15 lbs (which is too big for us.). I spoke to one of The butchers and he was nice enough and willing to cut it in half for me. This Saar has a large veggies and fruit offerings. Moldy products, spoiled meats, expired products, minimal customer service, and the list goes on. I purchased Donne' Dinache Hot Crab Paste with a best by date: 10/2022. UPC: 7 16715 44510 3. Today is Monday, November. 8th, 2021 at approximately 2130 hrs, I opened the lid to the crab paste and discovered white mold growing on the product. And is it common for Saars not to assist customers bagging their groceries? I had to bag EVERYTHING myself. If this continues, bring in those self checkout machines, you'll do us all a favor. read more

I came in to get soup because I have a 104° fever. Waited awhile in line, and an employee cut in front of me not even asking or having common courtesy. Usually have a decent experience here but I can barely walk and having to wait for an employee who isn't responsible enough to buy snacks prior or pack food from home is not my concern. read more

Okay, so the best thing about this particular Saars is their chicken! Their friend chicken is AMAZING! They're consistently crispy and well seasoned. Best time to buy chicken is when Luse is working the deli. Another thing to note is that the deli here has had a health inspection rating of Excellent :) which is very impressive. Most grocery deli's are not ranked very high. There's plenty of parking despite this being a very busy store. Service is typical of any major grocery store. They've got a great variety of ethnic food and they even sell Halal meat. They certainly cater to the demographics of its location which is probably why it's frequented often by Tukwila locals. read more

The only reason to shop here is cause it's cheap and even that isn't always the case. The food is low quality, the store is dirty, and the staff is incredibly rude. Love this store! An earlier review was complaining about, well, seemed like EVERYTHING ! What this person doesn't understand is, while there's no ex for moldy bread or other products, SAARS is meant to be an Ultra affordable, no coupon needed, customer-aware grocer. Its got a large variety śof ethnic offerings that you won't find anywhere else-- it's like they combined a RedApple, a Walgreens, and a dollar store, focused on pricing, consumer wants, and convenience (which just lost a point for changing hours). It's SUPER, SUPER unfortunate that it recently stopped being open 24 hours--that was the ribbon winner---, but that , and the limited amount of employees available for customers, are part of how they can offer such low prices. You'll still find a weekly add in your mailbox, but you won't be needing to bring any coupons in, but you SHOULD leave a little extra time for you to really explore the entire place! read more

I just happened across this store when I was driving to a friend's house on my way to something else. I think this store used to be some kind of world market that went out of business because I seem to remember it being something else only a couple of months ago. As I drove by, I thought, HEY! I didn't know that there was a Saar's there. On my way back, I, of course, had to stop in. I needed ice cream, and I did not want to go QFC. I went in and was pleasantly surprised. The store was fully-stocked and very neat. It was clean and plenty of room between the aisles. Small downside was that the layout in the store was a little atypical, so it was hard to find my way around. The signage could have been better for the over the aisle signs. The last small annoyance was that they only had two cashiers on a Friday night! Eeek. That's pretty much why they are not getting 5 stars, especially because some of the Saar's around the Seattle area can be hit or miss. Need those ingredients to make hummus? Gotta grab some crema for that fish taco? This is probably the best American store in the area that carries Asian, Hispanic, Eastern European, and Middle Eastern groceries. Fred Meyer, Trader Joe's, and Safeway can only carry so much stuff. I happened to be in the area and needed to pick up some spaghetti noodles. Little did I know this place had shelves stocked full of international products. I'm sure the employees thought it was weird that I was taking pictures of food but I couldn't help it. It was a fun shopping experience. read more

Umm wow the star level should be low. I grew up in WHite Center..not far from this location. So I know this store prides themselves on catering to be a world market, so yes if you need real mexican sour cream and halal meat...Awesome....But After picking up ground beef from here that was grey in the middle and smelled so rotten ...I tossed it and just ordered Jimmy Johns. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD OPEN ALL OF YOUR COUNTERS. No one should wait in line for 25 minutes to get rung up, especially during rush hour...this is why people like grocery stores with self check out... Pros: Subway inside...fried chicken at the deli aint kfc, but it is cheap...and its the only 24 hour grocery store in tukwila! Seriously if these are your only pros..its bad Cons: The only grocery store, NO STRAWBERRY ICE CREAM from any name brand, the store brand is western family (kroger and walmart have a better store brand), EVERYTHING is overpriced (ground turkey is 5.99!!..hints on why i bought the ground beef), and the milk always expires in a week after I purchase. You are better off going to Trader Joes and its actually affordable and better quality! Slowlycounting down the days to move back to seattle and have access to better food. read more

I recently began working nearby and I stop by here on my lunch break to grab something to eat. The deli is fast, friendly, and really affordable. The people that work at the deli are always very polite and jump to stop what they're doing to come and assist me at the counter. They're very nice! Sometimes checkout is really slow, but it seems to be less an issue of the cashiers and more of an issue of the people going through the line. I've been in the Western Union line (which is a mistake because those transactions understandably take longer) and lines where customers begin arguing or yelling at the cashiers. So I get it--it looks like a rough job, but I can understand some of the low ratings here but I've never had any issues with them. read more

Let me begin by saying that the only reason I continue to shop here is because it is so close to my apartment, its open 24 hours and the prices are quite reasonable. With that, I must comment on the quality of food. Its either hit or miss here.. with the produce obviously. But on many other items too, (they also have a huge ser of shelves near the back where they sell past dated food, meat, ect at a discounted price. But i have purchased things before many times where its expired or even worse, not expired but completely rotten. When you've been craving spinach and artichoke dip so you rush to the store, come home and open it.... come to find the whole top of the dip is covered in mold. TOTALLY DISGUSTING! Will they reimburse you? Of course not. So thats one thing to complain about, the cashiers are so much worse. I've almost never had a good experience with cashiers at thia store. They are either lazy and dont want to help (even though there is a huge line..they want to go home- one girl literally picked up the phone to ask the manager if she had to help "this customer" which was me. And the 4 people behind me. Or they just walk away as you approach the register. No words. And last night was the absolute worst. I always bring my own shopping bags. I understand some people don't like customers sticking items in their bag while shopping but i always do it anyways. It shouldn't matter since im paying for it. But when i went to check out yesterday the woman was so out of line. I took every item out of my bag except my planner. She demanded that i put my red bag on the counter to look in it. I told her there was nothing in there, she told me it looked like i had other things and i better show her my bag or else she wont help. So of course, i did. And to her surpise nothing but my planner. .. then, i decided against some cheesecake and handed it to the cashier. Well, i went back and tried to purchase after my transcation was completed. I can not believe what this women said to me. I was told i couldnot purchase that item as i decided against it originally. She said if i wanted to buy the cheesecake i would haveto walk back to the bakary and grab another one. SHE WOULD NOT HAND IT TO ME. IT WAS LITERALLY RIGHT THERE. I walked in the store and either I was so excited about getting something different in my groceries I soiled myself, or something in the store died and thought that store was heaven. It smells foul. Moving past that even though is continues to smell as you are shopping. There is an incredible variety in ethnic food choices. The place to shop for hot sauce , rice, and kosher foods it seems. I don't trust the produce. There is a limited variety in the frozen foods. I was hoping for different items but I can get all those things elsewhere at lower prices The pricing is not too super. I think they spend too much money on signage and banners. This place is not Whole Foods Market and it shows. My personal experience from today is that the customers are not friendly. They will cut in line with no remorse. Good for a ethnic food run, but not for quality shopping and super saver prices. read more

Every single time I go into this store something is lacking. From damaged products, to long lines with minimal cashiers to sackers who put my milk with my soap powders. The staff are mostly males and let me tell you, there are a very untidy looking lot. I hate to think of them touching my groceries - those hands don't see soap and water or sanitizer all shift. The bread is always stale. The ice cream has melted and then re-frozen (Haagan Daas). Although I live in the area, I drive over to Renton, Burien, Des Moines, even Federal Way just to save myself the aggravation. When I visit friends in Lake Forest Park or Bothell - I make it a point to do my shopping out there to make sure I never set foot into Tukwila SAARs Super Saver Foods ever. They say this one is the best one...if that is true the worse one in Seattle should be condemned. I have shopped in bazaars in Iraq that are much, much better. There is no atmosphere. There are no one to greet you as you enter. You do not smell anything international. It's just a bunch of junk shoved into the store that is stale, dirty or rotten EXCEPT the liquor. This is an exceptional international grocery store. The produce, meat, and spice sections were what stood out for me. They have an extremely broad range of products, excellent prices, and their staff are extremely helpful as well. There is loads of parking, and it's easy to get in and out. I love the prices on canned goods, meat, and some dairy. They have delicious fried chicken! Last two times I have been in here the cashiers have been gossiping about coworkers. One person that was stocking items by the register actually asked a customer by me with one item to allow her to set some canned goods on the conveyor belt because it was easier for her. I am amazed at the low ratings given their frequent excellent prices for produce and fish. How many places can you buy wild fish for less than $2 a pound, or lettuce for $0.38 a pound. When it saw that it was seen it ran over to the stacks of grains/rice in to the right of the produce section. Its shameful that the only grocery in a city is so dirty and maintains such low standards. I like this store. The deals on produce are fantastic, even without the great coupons. The meat and seafood deals are unbelievable, although a lot of the most insane deals require buying 5-10 lbs at once and I don't have a spare freezer or other people living with me right now, so I can't justify buying the 10-lb package. I really love the fried chicken counter in the back and they have an even better deal on Thursdays. It smells so good I can catch it from the bus stop across the street from the rear of the store and if I don't get any, I'm just mad at myself while I'm waiting for the bus. They always have delicious stuff from the local Latino bakery. They have a good collection of international dairy and dry goods, from Asian breads and sauces to quesos to Eastern European smoked meats and fish. Also, they have packaged deli goods at a fair price. I also get a lot of my $1 spices here, because they have the entire collection of those $1 spice brand options. They have all the flavors of Milka bars. I mean, they really have everything and they have the best prices on it. Makes me feel good to leave with a full cart of groceries for $40. read more

I went to Saars Friday evening and found items well stocked and prices good so 2stars for that. The checkout process however can use improvement - minus three stars. Before grocery shopping here, I usually make a list and print the list off the store website so I am organized and know exactly what I want. First, I handed this list to the cashier as I usually do because Saars website automatically prints the coupon codes for any items that have a discount and it's easier than cutting out coupons but the cashier acted like she had no idea what the list was for or how to use it. Instead of entering the codes as other cashier's have done in the past, she kept opening the large weekly ad to reference saying she knows nothing about the website or how to use the list which took much more time than needed. Second, the girl that was supposedly bagging groceries decided to leave her post instead of help bag my groceries. I bagged all 70lbs of meat and vegetables myself with no one to help while a line behind me formed. Their cashier's should be better trained on how to enter coupon codes, told about their website and given lessons on customer service, like help customers put groceries in bags instead of stand and chit chat amongst themselves. That part was really annoying as well especially when they were so busy chit chatting instead of helping bag groceries or working the cash register faster. I don't need to hear about what school you go to or what your plans are. I just want to buy groceries and get out. read more

My fiancé and I were traveling to Seattle from Houston and stayed in Tukwila, Saars Super Saver Foods was our closest grocery store and we loved it! We had been forewarned by many people about the high prices in WA vs TX and a lot of the products at Saars were CHEAPER than what we are used too- so that was a great start! The big reason why I'm leaving a review for a grocery store though is because of the incredibly helpful staff. We were buying an ORCA transit card at Saars to use the light rail and buses while we are here and the staff gave us a ton of helpful tips and advice about getting around. Out of the two Saar's near me, this particular store is my least favorite. Never can find what I need and I rarely shop here. The produce section has quite a large selection of fruits and vegetables. There is a huge meat section--wish they offered fresh ground sausage. I usually have to stand in light waiting to check-out, no matter what time of day or night. Cashiers are friendly. I really like there being a SUBWAY restaurant inside the store. The location of this particular Saar's is located in is a bit sketchy and there are always lots of people just milling around in front of the store. I always wonder if I'm going to have my car stolen when I shop here...I hate having to park in their lot--always a relief to see my car still there when I go to leave.
