Moldy products, spoiled meats, expired products, minimal customer service, and the list goes on. I purchased Donne' Dinache Hot Crab Paste with a best by date: 10/2022. UPC: 7 16715 44510 3. Today is Monday, November. 8th, 2021 at approximately 2130 hrs, I opened the lid to the crab paste and discovered white mold growing on the product. And is it common for Saars not to assist customers bagging their groceries? I had to bag EVERYTHING myself. If this continues, bring in those self checkout machines, you'll do us all a favor.

I just happened across this store when I was driving to a friend's house on my way to something else. I think this store used to be some kind of world market that went out of business because I seem to remember it being something else only a couple of months ago. As I drove by, I thought, HEY! I didn't know that there was a Saar's there. On my way back, I, of course, had to stop in. I needed ice cream, and I did not want to go QFC. I went in and was pleasantly surprised. The store was fully-stocked and very neat. It was clean and plenty of room between the aisles. Small downside was that the layout in the store was a little atypical, so it was hard to find my way around. The signage could have been better for the over the aisle signs. The last small annoyance was that they only had two cashiers on a Friday night! Eeek. That's pretty much why they are not getting 5 stars, especially because some of the Saar's around the Seattle area can be hit or miss. Overall, this Saar's is the best one I have been into around Seattle. I hope have an excuse to go back soon--their selection is HUGE!

Need those ingredients to make hummus? Gotta grab some crema for that fish taco? This is probably the best American store in the area that carries Asian, Hispanic, Eastern European, and Middle Eastern groceries. Fred Meyer, Trader Joe's, and Safeway can only carry so much stuff. I happened to be in the area and needed to pick up some spaghetti noodles. Little did I know this place had shelves stocked full of international products. I'm sure the employees thought it was weird that I was taking pictures of food but I couldn't help it. It was a fun shopping experience.

    I'm here, that's all

The big reason why I'm leaving a review for a grocery store though is because of the incredibly helpful staff.

That said, after today's visit, I stand corrected. The exterior is run down and the lighting inside is depressing, but the place is clean, the staff is nice and the pricing is competitive. If this place had a robust meat selection, I think they could give Uwajimaya a run. I didn't find everything I was looking for, but the dry spices and vegetables were exactly what I was after. I didn't see cabbage or celery, but the selection was still more diverse than any other store I've visited. My singular knock was the two guys stocking the store. Both were kind and polite, but they also had radios blasting music. I'm sensitive to sound, so it made it hard for me to focus and I'm sure a couple items I was after I missed, because I couldn't stay in the area where they were stocking merch. Bulk spices tend to last, so it may be a minute before I find my way back here. That said, this will be my go to spice store.

They have a huge parking lot and are also attached to a few deli, coffee, food counters which is nice. Deals can be great from time to time. Unfortunately - 3 out of the 4 types of fruit that we got were all overripe and had gone bad (but everything is packaged in plastic so you cant even tell or open to look at the whole fruit). The milk apple, the baby green mangoes, and the mamey fruit. They were tried the same day - which means they were already really bad when picked off the shelf. Was so excited to eat these exotic fruits and sorely let down because they tasted so off they had to go straight in the bin. This has happened more than once shopping here. Firstly, there needs to be more quality control if we were to shop their produce again... And *please, stop* with the excessive plastic use wrapping everything in saran wrap and foam trays that is not only horrible for the environment but traps/infuses toxins and microplastics in our fruits and veggies. There is so much potential here, but I'm not going to throw money down the drain by continually buying bad produce.

It does get crowded, especially on weekends so it can be a little difficult, but you'll eventually find parking. I came today during Thanksgiving and they were open, which was really nice. I love how big this market is. They have everything from fresh produce to frozen aisles, canned goods, and even fresh seafood. They even have live fish and crabs, pretty much anything you can imagine. The service here is helpful too. There are a lot of workers around and they're always willing to point you in the right direction. They only do assisted self-checkout, so you can't scan everything on your own, but there are plenty of lanes open. The ambiance is a little on the dirtier side though. A lot of the produce didn't look super clean, and some items felt like they were placed everywhere. The bananas I saw were a bit brown and rotten, and I feel like they could've tidied that up. Their prices are on the cheaper side, which is great, but that doesn't always mean the quality is the best. We bought some packaged bok choy today, and when we opened it, half of it was mouldy and even had little bugs. The price is low, but you're not always getting the best quality. Overall, the market is still great for other items like canned goods, we love getting their canned fruit for sweet treats. It was still a good experience, and I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area or need something quick.

All of the wonderful foods that are produced. But the products and spices necessary to produce these unique dishes are not found in your typical Western-based grocery store. And often times, these products must follow strict religious sanitary rules. There must be a grocer that can carry these sundries to make your dish what you remember from home. In comes the International Food Bazzar! Located on the northern Kent border in the industrial park area, this deceptively large grocery holds products from the Middle East, India, Pakistan, and a few others representing South Asia. The store is Halaal certified, and for those looking for that regional specific product from that region, it is most likely here. Going in, I was not prepared for excitement that I felt walking when I walked in to find the spices and curries I was looking for but could easily not find in a western North America based grocery store. Even the frozen food section was a treat: frozen Naan bread, frozen Saag Paneer to take for lunch, and brands of 25 pound bags of basmahti rice. Let's not forget the busy butchery section preparing several Halal cuts for the long line of customers, all awaiting their turn to put their personal request in. It's a great relationship that is forged. As someone who wants to eat as authentically as possible without the America-substituted analogs, I have found joy in this place that can make my dishes shine the way they were intended. They definitely specialize in Filipino goods, so you won't a lot of items you might find at 99 Ranch, Uwajimaya or Asian Family Market. I looked at the temp gauge above the product, the cooler was malfunctioning and at too high a temperature, 58F I told a manager and she just said yeah, they know. A technician is coming "later". Meanwhile product was still sitting on those refrigerated shelves. They should've pulled everything out of that refrigerated section until it was fixed.
