He carefully reviewed it with me, projecting the image onto a large screen monitor and walking me through both the good and the bad. He answered all of my questions thoroughly, and I never felt rushed. The entire staff was kind, compassionate, and understanding. I made it clear that I was anxious, and they took plenty of time to explain every step of the process, including costs and estimated out-of-pocket expenses. I was treated like a person, not just another patient. I also cannot say enough good things about the anesthesiologist. He was outstanding. He explained everything clearly, answered my questions, and helped put me at ease. His calm demeanor gave me confidence that I was in good hands. Dr. Bebeau was equally impressive. The surgery went smoothly, and my recovery was much easier than I expected. His staff checked in with me regularly, and follow-up questions were welcomed anytime, whether by phone or text. Never having had a tooth out I was extremely stressed (an understatement) but I had the IV sedation which made this whole thing do-able for me. I also got a bone graft, and Dr. Gassman's work was exceptional. I had no pain even after the numbing wore off that evening and no swelling. Dr. Gassman has my full endorsement, and also my appreciation for doing such a fantastic job on something so important. I am editing this just to add that the people complaining about fees, I was charged exactly what I was quoted at the initial consultation. I imagine Dr. Gassman is not the cheapest option, but seriously, I do not want bargain dental surgery! You get what you pay for!

A patient post-op law suit would be appropriate at a court trial to determine damages caused by such a poor esthetic outcome. Dr. Smutko is rude, disrespectful, condescending and accepts zero responsibility if there is a…read moreproblem. I have filed a complaint against Dr. Smutko with the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners. On February 11, Dr. Smutko performed a tooth extraction, bone graft and placed a membrane due to a sinus perforation evidenced on a scan my dentist provided. Dr. Smutko said I had an infection and that she had cleared it. On 2/13, I called to ask if the very considerable pain I felt was normal. On 2/14, I asked if an antibiotic might be helpful given that there was an infection. She ASSURED me I did not have an infection and that everything was fine, She said that an antibiotic would "only serve as a placebo."   On  2/18, I complained that I could not manage the severe pain with medication. She lectured me that it had been a "simple procedure," which completely contradicted her earlier statement that it had been a "complicated procedure" due to the tooth's proximity to the sinus cavity. " On 2/21, I called and asked for an appointment. On 2/25, again, I questioned the possible need for an antibiotic. I didn't know if I still had an infection but I did know that there was a serious problem. I had spoken to another oral surgeon who said I should have been put on an antibiotic immediately following the procedure. She coldly dismissed me. I asked if she didn't think it was possible that there could be a problem that is not visible to her eye.  She flatly said "no" but reluctantly prescribed an antibiotic. After taking only 4 pills over a 24 hour period, my pain had decreased substantially.   Unfortunately, after a few days, the pain slowly returned, now accompanied by the strong smell of sulfur (research will point to an infection in that instance.) I asked her if it was possible that the antibiotic which seemed very helpful initially, wasn't strong enough and I told her that now I was having to cancel my own clients for my aesthetics business I have owned for over 30 years and losing a considerable amount of income due to this situation. She completely dismissed me, actually rolled her eyes and left the room. I told one of her assistants that I was never returning due to Dr. Smutko's shockingly cold, dismissive and unprofessional behavior. She said that she understood, apologized and told me that "Dr. Smutko believes the body should be able to heal itself." I suppose that explains why the doctor coldly dismissed every question I had. She never took a single CT to see if there was actually an issue causing weeks of pain and suffering. She acts as though she is superior to her patients that their opinions or discomfort are of no merit or importance to her at all. I decided to get a second opinion from a new oral surgeon. On March 4, I went to see Dr. Nelson, for a second opinion. He immediately did a 3D CT scan and determined that there was a substantial issue, either mucus, infection or something in my left sinus cavity, which he called Opacified and Pneumatized left maxillary sinus, which likely explained why I was smelling sulfur and experiencing severe pain. He also checked that the bone graft wasn't contaminated, something Dr. Smutko didn't consider.    On March 6, Dr. Nelson performed a procedure to clear out whatever it was evidenced in the CT. Immediately following his procedure, I no longer could smell sulfur and miraculously felt no pain for the first time in weeks. Dr. Smutko had refused to consider, accept or scan for a problem. While under her care, I was left to suffer for weeks and had to cancel approximately $7,000 dollars of aesthetic procedures income I had on my books. Two different oral surgeons said it was negligent for Dr. Smutko to not to run a single scan for weeks following constant complaints after a dental procedure. Just one scan, less than 10 minutes and she would have had all the evidence she claimed she didn't have, to identify and treat my problem. Dr. Smutko is responsible for the worst medical experience I've ever had.

Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. Dr. Rabot is hands down the BEST oral surgeon! I dont even know where to begin . (This is a long…read moreone ) 1. I probably have one of the VERY worst dental phobias you can imagine from bad childhood early adult dentist experiences. Im talking trembling , shaking uncontrollably , sweating to the point my glasses would fog up , nausea , heart pounding fear . And that lead to a lot of years of neglect on my part. Ive had a dentist use the max amount of shots to numb me and look me in my face like i was crazy and tell me "sorry I cant give you any more" when I tried to tell them I could still feel it , not a little bit, like fully feel it . Dr. Rabot was the FIRST of many to actually take the time and hear me. Right off the bat he explained that he would try a different technique that required an injection into the back of my jaw and that it would not be the most pleasant but it should do the trick. When I tell you this man did extractions and implants with less pain that ive had for a cavity/root canal/ simple extraction. The whole time talking me thru what he was doing , making sure I was ok and comfortable the entire time. His chairside manor is incredible and he just has a very calming and assuring way about him . 2nd Dr. Rabot has given me several implants and a few weeks into the 3rd one it had failed (it happens) . And it was CHRISTMAS morning , I texted Dr. Rabot early in the morning and sent him a video of me wiggiling my implant with my tounge. His response ? "I can be at the office in 30 minutes , or would you be more comfortable in the hospital setting because we can go there too". ON CHRISTMAS MORNING !! I am not a fan of hospitals so I went with the office. 30 min and he had me in the chair , numbed up , implant out and bone grafting done , 3-4 months later new implant and back in buisness (2nd attempt did not fail ) 3rd EVERY SINGLE TIME he has done any surgery on my HE calls me to check up on me. Not an assistant. 4th he has never made me feel stupid for my insane phobia , only been supportive and understanding. 5th VERY VERY clean office VERY kind staff . I DO not give out 5 star reviews easy . But this one is so deserved . He is a master at his craft and knows and cares very much about the work he does and that shows To the person who complained about having to wait while he ordered his food on vacation in another country .... poor you !!! You had to wait a couple minutes ....... it would have been so much better if you were sent to an after hours answering service or a voicemail right ? Cause thats what most Docs will do. Im not sure what other option he could have provided to you for immidiate help other than hospital . Dr Willman is no longer with the practice. Huge, enormous, gigantic loss for Pima Dental. About four months ago, I returned because I needed to molars extracted. Let me note that after the extractions I had fully intended beginning work on all my lower teeth, fully expecting to make another substantial investment. This practice is not inexpensive... in my view it is extremely overpriced (especially after I share what happened below). I was prepared to pay another substantial amount to complete my treatment. I did miss one appointment due to a personal emergency. I attempted to call but was unable to get through, and at the time my focus understandably had to be on the emergency. At my next scheduled appointment, I drove over 45 minutes from north Phoenix. I arrived and had X-rays done, and then met with a dentist who informed me that two teeth would need to be extracted by an oral surgeon and that the procedure could not be done there. While the dentist was courteous, the appointment ultimately resulted in a two-hour round trip simply to be referred elsewhere. I wish this had been communicated to me beforehand. As I was leaving, I was stunned when I was told not to leave and was informed that I owed a $50 missed-appointment fee. Mandy, the office manager, whom I had worked with before made it be known that I needed to pay $50. What disappointed me most was not the amount itself, but the complete lack of empathy or discretion--especially toward a long-standing patient who had already invested heavily in the practice and was prepared to invest significantly more. I understand that offices have cancellation policies. However, patient relationships should involve more than strict enforcement of fees. In my experience, this practice places profits above patient goodwill and patient satisfaction. Between the high costs of treatment and the rigid handling of this situation, it left me feeling that policies mattered more than people. As a business owner myself, I believe long-term trust, empathy, and relationships are what sustain a practice--not nickel-and-diming loyal patients. Unfortunately, this experience has led me to seek care elsewhere for the remainder of my treatment, and I will not be recommending this office moving forward ever again! I hope this feedback is taken constructively. My initial experience here was excellent, attributed primarily to Dr Willman, which makes this outcome all the more disappointing.

They are NOT flexible at all with creating a dental payment plan. They just expect me to whip out a credit card and charge it. Like most working people I work paycheck to paycheck. My visit lasted approximately five minutes, and I was told the issue was TMJ -- which was completely unrelated to the reason I was there. There was minimal examination and no meaningful discussion of the actual concern that prompted my referral. The following day, I sought a second opinion from another oral surgeon, who was surprised that my condition had not been properly evaluated or treated. The difference in thoroughness and concern between the two appointments was significant. I then attempted to resolve the billing issue directly with the office. For nearly two months, I repeatedly reached out to billing and was told the person in charge was on leave. After finally getting in contact with her, she was extremely rude and stated the charges were non-negotiable, insisting that Dr. Golding did everything "appropriately." When I explained my concerns and the circumstances, I was told I would be sent to collections -- which ultimately happened. I was sent to collections for over $750 for this brief consultation that did not adequately address the medical concern I was referred for. Being sent to collections under these circumstances is incredibly disappointing and stressful. Patients deserve to feel heard, thoroughly evaluated, and treated with professionalism -- both medically and administratively. I cannot recommend this office based on my experience.
