If you are looking to furnish an empty space, stop what you're doing and at least set up a call…read morewith the Splendid & Swanky team. For background, I have no interest in interior design and have no business spending real money on furniture I know nothing about. But I found myself in a situation where I had nothing for a space that had to be smartly utilized. And I wanted it to be beautiful. Was this really the time to experiment with Pinterest while spending thousands of dollars? & I needed the furniture to last long enough that I wouldn't have to think about this again for a very, very long time. I also needed to buy everything during a pandemic, when everything was delayed... So I turned to an option I never had considered before - hiring interior designers. I had heard great things about this team and wanted to explore sourcing this huge project out to them. It's a pretty simple process. You go to their website and fill out an intake form that introduces yourself and the project. Then they'll sell up a virtual call to meet and discuss your style, and budget. Then they came and looked at the space, took measurements. Then they pitched a proposal. From there you have to make some decisions. They are going to present you with options that may be outside of your budget. This is where we gotta grow up a little and recognize that if you want nice things, this is how much that actually cost. I was happy to increase my original proposed budget to get what I needed. But there were some peices that I wanted to spend less on and they quickly came back with lower priced options. They were very adaptable there. With that, they placed the order! Over the course of the next few months, the furniture started arriving. They work with a contractor who you can hire (through them, they handle all the admin work) who can assemble, hang, etc do all that work for you. They even came over to make sure everything was hung in the right spots. There is a science and art to design that they are factoring into every decision for your space, and it's worth their fee to get all your nice new furniture all in the right place. They look for beauty and functionality in every detail of the space. So now I have this gorgeous dining room [photo provided]. Our guests are blown away whenever they walk even towards the space. It's exactly what I wanted when I described the target ambiance to the team. Beautiful, relaxed, warm, stylish. I can't tell you how happy I am with my experience with Splendid & Swanky and the confidence it brought me about my home. If you're able to, whenever you're able to, hire professionals to do things you can't do well. It'll always be worth it. Here is the proof.

Probably the best thing you can say about our original furniture is that it was eclectic. More truthfully, it simply didn't really look that great, pretty much a "before" project on what you'd see on HGTV. Once Vanessa and Michelle got through with it, the interior of the house was totally transformed. The first step was Vanessa came through the house with her contractor, Arlin, and recommended changes to be made, including updating ceiling fans, light fixtures, installing recessed lights, etc. We didn't do everything she recommended but we did most. Vanessa coordinated all of the contracting work done by Arlin and his team, and provided all the quotes. The prices for the various jobs were very competitive, generally cheaper than other estimates I received from other contractors. The bottom line is that the results speak for themselves. We received multiple offers and sold the house for $110K over list within 5 days for the highest price ever sold in our neighborhood. I couldn't have asked for much more than that. Attached are a few pics of the finished product. I definitely recommend using Inspired Home Design for updating and staging your home. I'm sure glad I did.

Jokingly I asked could she design my unit exactly as she did the model. I say jokingly for two reasons... 1) I thought she only did commercial business. 2) If she did partake in residential work, I knew I would not be able to afford her services. Surprisingly, I was wrong on both accounts. I explained to her Im a single guy and I wanted to have a stylish home, but I have no sense of style and would be of no help lol... She told me not to worry and asked me what my budget was (lol which was scary cause I didnt have one) Here is how I knew Sonja was a professional and good at what she does. .... I am super indecisive and she made the process painless for me. She provided me with quotes and walked me through a few options. I ended up getting what she referred to as a turn-key ready unit. I liked to refer to it as.... pay the lady and let her work her magic lol... I LOOOOOOOOVE my condo... My friends think Im some sort of Interior Design Guru, because Ive been taking all the credit (Sorry Sonja) :-) .... But to clear my concious lol... I decided to come on here and tell the rest of the world how wonderful you are....

We had this company do the staging for our house on Capitol Hill before it went on sale and we were…read moreTHRILLED with the results. The pictures speak for themselves but I will mention a few things of special note. First, we had representatives from 3 different companies come to our house and quote. Anabella impressed us immediately with her comments and also that she did a walk-through of the house making a video, essentially making notes for herself, and perhaps her co-workers, about what might be brought in and where it should be placed. (Our movers had already taken our furniture away so it was perhaps easier working with an empty space.) Second, this company was slightly cheaper than the other two for the first month but the real difference is what happens if your house is not under contract after a month and you want to keep the furniture for a second month. The other two companies forced you to make a decision in advance as to whether you choose a one-month, or a two-month, contract. How can you know in advance how fast your house will sell. If you took the one-month option, keeping it longer was expensive, though I can't recall exactly how much. In the case of Staging Design DC, there is no need to guess in advance. If you have not sold your property, just tell them you need the furniture longer and it is 20% extra per month. Third, a really clever visual change was to arrange the living room furniture in a U-shape with the open end of the U facing toward the entry. It made the room seem significantly larger. We had a TV against the wall and the "U" the other way around so when you entered, you first saw the back of a chair. Fourth, a minor thing perhaps but the things they hung on the wall generally used hooks that were already there but they were all light so only small hooks were needed. One of the other companies wanted to hang a mirror. Mirrors of any size are heavy and so need a large drywall anchor to secure them which might be unsightly once the mirror is gone. You would have to hang something else there to cover it. When my wife first saw the house as the installation was being completed, she gasped and said, "I'm so happy!". You will be too.

I recently had a very hairy and stressful transaction where we didn't know whether we'd close or not. Our contract had expired but Paula , the Operations Director, was very flexible and chill. She let us have a few extra days while we tried to work things out and did not add to the pressure. We ended up needing to extend another month and the fee for the extension was very reasonable.
