Mauricio and his crew at Sabor a Tocumbo are really sweet and helpful and welcoming. I had always wanted to try this place so this time while visiting Visalia (which btw, IMO, is not the "anus of California" as another person described it, by any means...beautiful, enchanting night skies here speak for themselves, not to mention the close access to the gorgeous Sierra Nevada area National Parks!!) I made a point of stopping by. An excellent choice! I actually wanted a iced espresso or an iced mocha, and in addition to a litany of flavorful ice cream/sorbet treats, they also make a delicious array of real espresso drinks...hot or cold! But when I saw them making another customer one of their signature mangonadas (yum!), I decided to try one of them too! Also a chocolate shake for my mom! They were so nice, they even made me up a little sample of the mangonada to try! I had never had one before and they are outstanding! A delightful combination of mango sorbet and chili lime and fresh mango and the yummy candy straw! Everything was prepared with care and all parties who received these treats really enjoyed them I looked up the name and found the "Tocumbo" refers to a little town known for its ice cream...wow, what a great place to visit, right? Also a creative name for this shop. Kudos to them for doing it all so well. If your're in the area and want to try something refreshing, this is your place. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I want to give it 10 stars. I'm very picky about ice cream and I found myself in Visalia with an extra half-hour and I quickly went to yelp to search to see what was around. I was about to go to yogurtland when this interesting place came up and I decided to give it a try. I'm so happy I did. I got the mangonada except with passionfruit sorbet instead of mango since I like things tart. It was incredible, and the guy could not have been nicer, and the other things I tried were amazing. We ended talking about how he could triple his prices and have lines out the door if this was in NYC. Seriously. Someone needs to bring this to the East Coast. So inventive and amazing I still can taste the tamarind on the straw. Go there and you'll know what I'm talking about. OH, and he even gave me a free chocolate Popsicle to try. I mean, come on!! We always need to make a stop here when in Visalia! The aguas, helado, nieve and paletas are all made in house!!! Everything I have had here is absolutely delicious! They also have coffee and all freshly squeezed juices! Mixed variety of great junk food too like hot cheetos with cheese! Love this place!!!!!!! read more

My friend and I came in later in the evening, but they still had a good selection of paleta flavors in both dairy and non dairy options. (I tried the rose petal and guava paletas and they were delicious! )The employee told us they make all the paletas in house, and I could definitely taste a different. The only bad part is that I was visiting from out of town. Otherwise I would have bought a dozen of them to take with me. I know where I'm stopping next time I'm in Visalia :-) read more

WOW I'm impressed. The most delicious paletas I've ever had. What really confirmed this was their exotic selection of flavors. I got Rose and lavender paletas, they tasted like a creamy floral chai tea and NOT soap lol. My only regret is that I didn't bring a cooler with me to take some back to Fresno with me. This place is a must try if you're ever in the area! If you like mangonadas and flavored ice cream then you should definitely check out this place. They have a variety of flavored ice cream bar that all seem delicious. I've had the rose cream, pistachio, and mango ice cream bar and they have all been delicious. C'mon who wouldn't want something sweet and cold to cool down on this triple digit weather!? No really, give it a try! I knocked off 1 star because I felt that it's a little pricy. Their sorbet is amazing. We had their popular "Mangonadas" as suggested by the cashier. It is mango sorbet topped with lime juice and real mangos and chile/chamoy. All of the employees were friendly and this place is very bright, cheery and clean. We will come back soon. A place to go to in summer for sure! read more

Great ice cream for the family with a variety of Mexican ice cream flavors. They have other stuff other than ice creams like Mexican snacks and drinks. Servers were nice and attended to our needs when we had question about the flavors of the ice cream. I got the horchata there, it was very refreshing especially on a hot summer day. I'm obsessed with this place, especially in this heat. They have some really unique flavors and I have yet to be disappointed. Try the avocado paleta. You won't be disappointed. This place offers coffee iced drinks to Mexican style sundaes. I had the cookies and cream ice cream, and it was the best ice cream I have ever had in my life ... okay..okay.. maybe as good as the Dryers at the pier in SF. There is an exciting amount of house made popsicles with unique flavors, like avocado, lavender, hibiscus, watermelon Chile and so much more (too many to name). They also have house made ice cream, and fresh juices and smoothies. I tried the avocado popsicle, it was great. My husband tried the mangonada, and loved it. You should update your business hours on Yelp!! Kind of disappointing when it says open til 9 but your closed by 7 pm.

My family and I just went to the new location off of Houston and I have to say the girl working there is extremely RUDE!! She has no customer service, acted as if she didn't speak English until I said she was "very rude" to my husband then she started to speak English! While taking down our order she kept tapping her white board with a marker very rudely, making us uncomfortable and pressured to place our order quickly!! Sad to say we will not be returning to that location, we rather drive to the Mooney location even though it's farther away from us but at least employees there give GREAT service!! read more

Tried them out for the first time tonight. I had heard very good things and they did not disappoint. I had the coconut (milk) popsicle and my wife had the walnut.
