My friend got the spicy beef shawarma wrap and that was delicious too! Getting that the next time I come. I met one of the managers, Jason, and he was very generous! This place is great! For a very reasonable price we had a Classic Gyro and a Chicken Lavash. The meat was flavorful - the gyro had almost too much! While waiting for my food, I perused around the mini-grocery next door within the cafe. I didn't go in to the seating area as I ordered take-out, but the area seems clean and modern minimalist. I thought the quality of the food was pretty good. The kebabs did not come on a stick, but they were well-seasoned and juicy. The fries were also good and easy for sharing. The Mezza plate had a good variety and good for sharing, but I wish there was more pita bread provided. If I happen to come by Visalia again, I wouldn't mind returning. It was warm today, so I opted for eating in the airconditioned dining room. We shared a couple of items including the Oriental Mezza platter and Shawarma fries. Both were very good but I especially enjoyed the Shawarma fries. Unfortunately, service wasn't the best. The restaurant was busy but they weren't full, but our server seemed to move slowly. This is an overall review of the past several experiences at Pita Kabob. First- the food is always amazing. Great schwarma, great fries, great protein options, amazing humus and pita/chips. We crave the food. But the three stars is because of the service. No matter if there is a single customer seated when you come in (like today) or it is mostly full- you will have a wait. It makes no sense. You walk in and they immediately quote you a wait- no matter what. Today we walked in and there was literally a SINGLE customer in the dining area and yet we waited for over 5 minutes. This is common, and incredibly frustrating. The actual service once you're seated is usually fine- sometimes slow, sometimes perfect. Today was a special kind of frustration. Three of us came in in the 11am hour and we were quoted a 5 minute wait. Another customer came in and placed a 14 person to-go order while we waited. Finally, we were taking to the dining room and there was only one other table sat... why the 5 minute (that was closer to 10 minutes) wait?? My son placed an order for a pizza at the deli and they said they would bring it to us in the dining room. The rest of us got our food, and ate, and finally I walked back to the deli to see them only then pulling the pizza out of the oven... meanwhile there were only two people in the deli... so they weren't slammed. I wish they would get their act together on the front of the house because the food is unmatched, but the seating issues and inconsistent service sees us often choosing another place to eat. read more

The falafel itself was standard, and the fries were beer-battered, which I was not expecting. I'm glad you can have the to-go orders in the deli/cafe/pizzeria attached, but I was disappointed in the wait times. This mediterranean is AWSOME! The owner's wholesomeness left my family and I speechless. The food is amazing with wide variety of Lebanese dishes and amazing beer. The restaurant offers a wide selection of beer samples on top! The ambience of the restaurant is amazing as well with outdoor seating in a patio! The food itself is always, and I mean ALWAYS great. Rich flavors, good portions, just delish. The service though is meh. Sometimes its fine, other times is so, so bad. Not refilling drinks, staggered food drop offs, not busing tables when they really need it, etc. I got there early when meeting some friends and tried to order a dessert for my friend to be brought out at the end of our meal since it was her birthday and they made it all awkward and brought it out, packaged to go before we even ordered dinner. Gah. Be careful when getting to go orders. My husband picked up some takeout for us one night and when he got home, the sauces were missing (tahini and garlic -- the best parts of the meal!). I reached out to let them know and they were very cold about it and acted like I was lying or something. They said if I came down with the receipt, they would issue a refund (but of course my husband lost it -- and also who is going to make a special trip downtown just for that?). I asked if maybe they could offer a coupon for our next visit to make things right, and they said its on the customer to check the to-go orders before leaving. Um ok, but why are we supposed to be double checking YOUR employees work. Sigh. Especially if everything is already bagged up and packed when picking it up -- what are you supposed to do? Take it all out on the check in counter? I didn't even really care about the lost money, it was just weird how aggressive they came off. After a relaxing Sequoia getaway over the weekend, we decided to stop by this Mediterranean restaurant on our drive back home. First impressions were actually great -- the restaurant has a beautiful ambiance, stylish decor, and a very inviting atmosphere. Since we had a large group, we ordered a Beef Shawarma Plate along with a family combo to share. To give credit where it's due, the portion sizes absolutely exceeded our expectations, and some items, especially the chips, were genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the Beef Shawarma was so salty it felt less like dinner and more like a sodium endurance challenge sponsored by my future cardiologist. One bite in and I could practically hear my blood pressure negotiating a severance package. I drank enough water afterward to personally refill the Mediterranean Sea. Then came the grand finale. After we received the bill and already swiped the credit card, we noticed the amount charged was higher than what was listed on the receipt. We asked the server, Gabriella, about it, and her response was: "Oh, there's a 5% credit card fee. It was specified on the menu. You didn't read that?" Nothing says "thank you for dining with us" quite like being financially mugged after your kidneys already filed a formal complaint. So naturally, I checked the menu on Yelp afterward, and yes -- buried somewhere in what appears to be size-8 font was: "Please note we apply a non-cash payment adjustment fee of 5% for all items." Our apologies, lesson learned. Next time I dine out and swipe a credit card, I'll be sure to bring a notary public, an executive legal team, and perhaps a forensic accountant to carefully review the menu terms and conditions beforehand. To be fair, the manager Nick was professional and kind enough to reverse the credit card transaction after we paid in cash, which we appreciated. Great ambiance. Huge portions. Delicious chips. But between the salt overload, hidden fee surprise, and icy customer service, this dining experience turned into an unexpected medical and financial adventure. read more
